coolio what if you were in a turny and one of the judges ruled against you but you thought you made the correct move and you were both level 1 judges and there were no other higher level judges around

Oh my god, this is the most replys I've ever seen in my life... Oh well, on to the question.

The card Mana Web. How does it exactly work? I mean, does it drain the mana from the mana pool and leave your opponent helpless? Does it give your opponent the mana but blasts them back with mana burn? I've haven't a clue in the world.

Hey, I know this one, I used to run it in my Psychic Venom deck. Mana Web causes all of the appropriate lands to become tapped. Your opponent has the option of tapping the lands for mana or not, but the decision must be made and declared before the Mana Web's ability resolves (effectively, they must tap all the right lands and state which ones they drew mana from.) That mana sits in their mana pool, available to them, until it is used or the start of the next phase. If it isn't used by the end of the current phase, it results in Mana burn.

Imagenyuss: nothing is every played at the same time by both players in a game. the active player is the one that most of the time receives priority first.
answer to your second question.. yes.. vernal equinox.

as for your third question, it would depend who is the head judge.. the head judge has final say.. if I was head judge.. it'd be my ruling that stands.. if they are the head judge.. then his/her ruling would be the one that takes effect.

Archreaper: yeah.. hehe.. tis cool no? most replies in a post.. and most pages... =)
mana web reads:
MANA WEB
3
Artifact
Whenever a land an opponent controls is tapped for mana, tap all lands that player controls that can produce any type of mana that land could produce.

what happens here is that this is a triggered ability.. when a land is tapped for mana.. others that can produce the same mana will be tapped.. but as I said.. it is triggered.. so therefore this will go on the stack. your opponent many add something to the stack and tap the other lands for mana first before mana web taps them. if they drew mana into their pool, they have to spend it or as Orinn said.. it will result in mana burn. however lands tapped by mana web will not produce mana and therefore there is no mana to be burned from your life.

Orinn: yes.. 5 lvls of judges.. and I'm only a lowly 1.. gonna see if I can work on lvl 2 this summer..

Here's another question....

Can you cast a spell like Terror if there is no creatures in play to target?
What if there is a black creature or a creature that can't be the target of spells or abilities in play but no other's can you cast it then?

Thanks Again.....

Raker: those spells must have a legal target upon casting.. the target will be checked if its still legal when the spell resolves.. but thats another story.. important thing is you need a legal target in order to first declare the spell for casting.

Thanx for your answers Coolio. I still have a few though. Lets say that my opponent for some reason has two Opalescence in play and i'm still alive and kicking when it's my turn. I play Eradicate on one of them. Do I get to search his hand, library etc. or what?

Is Yawgmoth's Will removed from the game when played?

If I play Harmonic Convergence do I get to choose the order in which I put my opponents enchancements on his library?

Of yeah, and about those stupid Composts. My opponent once again has one in play. I play Yawgmoth's Will. Does he get a card? I then play a Perish. Does he get a card?

I guess thats all for now,

Olorin.

Olorin: yes you do get to search his hand, library and graveyard for all copies of the creature you targetted... which would be opalesence since there are 2 in play and they animate each other.

2. yes.. the yawgmoth's will shall remove itself, the final stage of resolution (after its affects are active) it goes to the graveyard, (in this case, it is INSTEAD removed from the game)

3. no, unfortunately you dont, owner gets to put cards into the graveyard in any order the owner chooses.

4. no and no. cards no longer hit the graveyard, will's effect is a replacement effect.. meaning will and perish never touch graveyard. so compost wont trigger.

will kudzu, with a sacred ground in play save all your lands if your opponent put the kudzu on them?

MojoJoJo00: it depends.. if you are the one to cast kudzu.. then no.. but if your opponent was the one to cast kudzu.. then yes.. sacred ground will keep bringing your lands back to play.. essentially u can have infinite mana if your opponent casted kudzu while u have sacred ground.

Hi I have a serious question this time
It may sound dumb but I really don't know it

When I cast Diabolic Edict, can my opponent sacrifice his Palinchron and then return it back to his hand?

coolio

no.. sacrifice doesnt go on the stack.. it means it goes directly to the graveyard.. its gone.. its gone.. u wont get a chance to do anything else before it hits the graveyard.. so no.. your opponent cant do that.

ok collio, what happens if he cast drain life for 20 to me. And in response I fork it to him. Who dies first? I think he does because the drain life goes on the stack and the fork does to and the last spell cast resolves first right causing him to lose. When is life checked?

Coolio:

Is this a legal play?

Assuming I have all the mana available, I cast Yawgmoth's Will. Then I cast Frantic Search from my graveyard and draw 2 cards. Because of Frantic Search effect, I also need to discard two cards.

Could I discard 2 cards from my graveyard rather than getting the card to discard in my hand.

Please kindly post the answer and email me as well.

Many thanks,
Genesis

Everyonesnemisis: you are correct.. fork is stacked on top of the drain life the fork would resolve first.

and death is checked the next time priority is given (meaning after the fork has resolved but before the drain life)

Genesis: I would email you.. but even with God's blessings and all.. my email server wouldnt send out.. so.. sorry.. =(

well the wording on will is as follows:
YAWGMOTH'S WILL
2B
Sorcery
Until end of turn, you may play cards in your graveyard as though they were in your hand.
If a card would be put into your graveyard this turn, remove that card from the game instead.

I can see how the wording can cause some confusion as to whether the cards in graveyard can be treated as part of your hand.

and the official ruling from D'Angelo's is here:
If an effect asks you to discard a card, you cannot "discard" something that is in your graveyard. Those cards are not in
your hand for any reason other than letting you play them. Thus, Cycling abilities of cards in the graveyard cannot be
used. [DeLaney 98/10/15]

Does this mean you can't remove cards in the graveyard for 1 black mana when you have a Skirge in play ?

Richie: that is correct.. you cant pitch cards to skirge from the graveyard due to will.. and any older "comes into play" that has been errata'd to cast from hand - such as karmic guide.. wont trigger since they actually come from the graveyard.

O.k now coolio this is a real question as this IS the situation I have. I have 2 broken arms . In a tourney would I need a judge to shuffle my deck between matches and along with any corresponding cards or can an opponent or a friend/bystander do it?

Ok, I haven't read all the other question and answers, so please excuse me if this has been asked again.
It is my understanding that once the end of turn effects are on the stack and start to resolve no more end of turn effects may be added. Is this true?
I ask because of Crater Hellion & lifeline.
Lifeline in play, I cast the Hellion killing my opponents creatures. End of turn they come back to play. My upkeep I do not pay echo and send the Hellion to the graveyard.
End of Turn put lifeline effect on stack. Bring back the Hellion killing opponents creatures. Do they stay in the graveyard or do they come back?

I've got a friend playing a Donate/Forbidden Crypt deck. We always have this arguement about Forbidden Crypt and Energy Field. Do cards which are removed from game when discarded from Forbidden Crypt actually get to the graveyard first?? How will this effect Energy Field??

Thanks in advance for any help.

Situation:

Player 1 cast humility first.
Then cast opal.
Then cast knighthood.
Player 2 casts seal of clean.

Questions:

How big is humility? How big is knighthood? What if anything has first strike.
Can you blow up humility with seal? or does it lose ability stuff?

Reactor ability affected by humility?
What counts as an ability?

Thx

Goblin_Snowman: there isnt an official ruling as I can remember.. its mostly up to the head judge.. the judge may shuffle for you... or you can have an opponent do so for you.. or you can have a friend tag along.. however that also depends on the willingness of your opponent. I personally would let u do any.. .. but bringing in a friend to shuffle only if opponent agrees.

Maximus_Ar: until end of turn or at end of turn? until end of turn effects wear off when the turn is completed.. at end of turn is a step.. where things can be stacked..

as for your question.. the end of turn where hellion comes back.. it'll kill other creatures.. they will stay in the graveyard until the NEXT at end of turn step.. which would be your opponents turn...

Yellow elemental blast:
FORBIDDEN CRYPT
3BB
Enchantment
If you would draw a card, return a card from your graveyard to your hand instead. If you can't, you lose the game.
If a card would be put into your graveyard, remove that card from the game instead.

the word instead is very important in the wording of the card.. it shows that it is a replacement effect.. therefore.. its in this pattern

if A... B instead.. so... event A doesnt happen.. but you replace it with event B
so no.. cards never touch the graveyard.. energy field would stay in play

Cadias: as i said when I made this post.. way back on top of page 1.. I said I'd refuse to answer such questions involving humility and opalesence.... if u want the answer.. go find it yourself at D'Angelo's Ruling Summary.. the link is in my signature.
