I had read them several years before. I still love them oh so much.

My favorite fantasy series. Retarded good. I'm trying to get the last few books I need to finish the entire series or whatever of all of Feists books. I'm also trying to get the last Book in the Jerle Shannara series by Terry Brooks. Am I the only person that didn't think The DaVincci Code was a great book? __________________ NaimOfNone AT yahoo DOT com NaimOfNone"Keep your poorly thought-out and genuinley immature rants off the boards. Great book. I'm reading Stephen King's "Insomnia". I just love how it ties into the Gunslinger so heavily. Great book. __________________

I didnt really like the Shanara books. I have a couple of them and got a little in to them, but then I realised that they were almost exact copies of Lord of the Rings. Put those down pretty quickly. The DaVinci code isnt really good if you are a big fan of sci-fi/fantasy. It is really good however if you like murder, mystery, intrigue, historical facts that are really fun and cool, and have a long day ahead of you with nothing planned I tried reading Confederacy of Dunces, but that was just too wierd. I stopped after the first few pages when he was talking about some bus ride. Anyone who is that interested in his coat and scarf can bloodywell keep them. Now, I'm reading Atlas Shrugged. I picked it up because all the adults I know recommended it. Seems ok so far, but I'm not too far into it. I don't think I will like it however becuse I really dont care about America's economy, or any other nations for that matter.

Good book! I finished it not too long ago. Brooks is definitely one of my favorite authors.

Give them another try. The first maybe 50 pages of the books are a bit slow, but it sets up the story and gets you going. I really don't see LotR in Brooks's work at all, other than the generic medeival fantasy stuff. You really should read Sword, (Wishsong and Elfstones - I always get the order confused) then move on to the others. Probably the prequel (The High King, maybe?) the Heritage series, then the Jerle Shannara series. I think I might have missed a couple, but that's the general idea. If you don't start with the original trilogy, you'll miss a good chunk of backstory. __________________ Warning! Check this link for info on a nasty impersonator before trading! Well, here's what I posted on another board. "I thought that the book had a masturbatory tone to it. The author was able to keep the reader interested because he knows how to write. The book didn't seem to be anything all that special though. I found the ending to be somewhat uncreative or lacking. I guess I'm just not a fan of characters that I'm unable to relate to and a writer who's entire 'greatness' is based on memorized oddities, and the ability to cliffhang every other chapter. Overally, I'd still advise it to anyone, as it was an interesting read at worst. It could be compared to a good action movie which isn't exactly a bad or good thing." The only part that I thought was great, was The Teacher. As for the Shannarah series. I'm in agreement, it's very much like LotR.... VERY MUCH. It's got quite a few good ideas though, aside from 'world gonna die unless...' That's what I like about Feist. I think the guy is really a genius, because he just keeps making crazy worlds up, and has insane ideas. Though everything ends up being somewhat normal AKA non-main characters die, world is saved, the execution is wonderful. Look at the Janny Wurts books. They literally created an entire new world, and created systems for it. The only think I don't like about the fantasy genre is the obvious blantant ripoffs of real history. Most recently I've seen the Roman Legions used in one of the books. __________________ NaimOfNone AT yahoo DOT com NaimOfNone"Keep your poorly thought-out and genuinley immature rants off the boards. I'm reading a book called Her Magesty's Wizard by Christopher Stasheff. excellent book, prolly bout tthe hundredth time i've read it. also i saw the name Terry Pratchett mentioned on the first page and i would like to comment that even though it's been a while since i've read any of his books (i don't own any and our library sucks), that i rather enjoyed his books, as strange as they were. Also if anyone enjoys a good read Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy is also a very awesome book (although the movie lacked the creativity he book had). -Seth __________________ I Dare Ya To Click This Link -^.^-=^.^=Creepy Me =^.^=

i couldn't stand the book. boring, drawn out, and dull. finished reading A Princess of Mars, by <undoubtedly my favorite author> Edgar Rice Burroughs. must find rest of the series (there are 11 in all, but only three that close the John Carter part of the story.) will start reading Pirates of Venus soon. again, by ERB.

Watership Down. I like it, kind of boring in plot, but very interesting otherwise. I totally agree. The DaVinci Code was really hyped to me. I read it, and gave it my official stamp of "meh." I didn't think it was all that groundbreaking or anything. I've heard the Mary Magdelene thing before. Also, the characters were rather forced and unrealistic. The main character's claustrophobia seemed like a desperate cry of, "I'm not two-dimentional, honest!" I did enjoy the book, though. I finished it in 3 days, which is really, really fast for me. Anyway, I am currently working on finishing The Magic Labrinth, which is book four in Philip Jose Farmer's "Riverworld" series. I highly recommend these to everyone. Please don't judge them by that horrible made-for-tv movie version that the Sci-Fi channel made! Speaking of which, does anyone actually watch those SciFi channel movies? They're all the stuff that causes people to make fun of sci-fi. I mean, I saw an ad today for their latest, "Boa v. Python". My head hurt. __________________ I am the Beast who shouts "I" at the heart of the world.Remaining unbanned since August 23, 2000!

*GASP!* BORING?!?! How on earth could cute little bunnies founding their own nation-state be boring? I really loved this book. The characters are great, the themes are great...::good bunny::... Speaking of which, I was riding with my grandfather today, and he ran over a bunny. I felt horrible. That bunny was some bunny's baby. Or senator. __________________ I am the Beast who shouts "I" at the heart of the world.Remaining unbanned since August 23, 2000!

I will agree. I think that The Prisoner of Azkaban was the best in the series. It had such a powerful effect that I don't think a movie could ever achieve. I do, however, think that the movie will come close, but I don't think they COULD make a movie as powerful as the book was. I tried to read On the Beach for World History and for the most part it was poorly written, boring, and poorly organized with a bunch of bs added in. The plot actually was actually good after I cliff notesed the book. I went back and read the ending and found that the cliff notes were better than the actual literature. No wonder it was going for a quater on amazon

Its a kids book dude. It can't be "powerful" o.0 However, I also think it was the best in the series, mainly because it was unpredictable. In the rest of them you could kinda guess what was going to happen. __________________ o.ôI just got a warning beacuse my stupid sig didn't work. This box is cursed forever.
