Clancy has been one of my favorite authors for a long time, but Rainbow Six was a huge disappointment for me. It's been a long time since I read it, but the thing that stands out the most that I disliked is the recycled terrorists-using-a-deadly-virus plot device. Didn't care for the ending either; it felt like something out of a Mack Bolan novel or some other pulp war story rather than a Clancy story. __________________ I still expect everyone to report rules violations...just not to me ;-)Best. What are some of your favorite Clancy novels? I also enjoyed The Bear and the Dragon and Red Storm Rising quite a bit and read them multiple times. Same with The Hunt For Red October. Infact, I could keep going, so I'll just stop.I could not stand the Net Force series, I tried reading two of them before I gave up. __________________ Email: Stat1c_X@hotmail.comI need 2 BB Sleight of Hand and 4 Serum Visions! Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger are my all-time favorite Clancy books. Without Remorse, Debt of Honor, and to a lesser extent Executive Orders are good as well. The rest of the "Jack Ryan universe" books are so-so at best; IMO Clancy should've ended the Ryan run with Executive Orders. It's been many years since I read Red Storm Rising but I remember liking it a lot. __________________ I still expect everyone to report rules violations...just not to me ;-)Best. Quotes. I should have said I'm reading Rainbow Six again...yeah it's not his best work but still entertaining. I do however like reading Red Storm Rising then immediately reading The Bear and the Dragon, it's interesting seeing similarities between Russia and China in the two books. -David-

The following is a statement of my beliefs-Dark Tower > Lord of the Rings I picked up Hitchhiker's Guide part 2 at the thrift shop for a buck (!!), but I feel compelled to re-read the Dark Tower series again instead. __________________ The man in black fled through the desert and the gunslinger followed.****.

just finished Return of Tarzan. contemplating on reading: Beasts of Tarzan, Gods/Warlords of Mars*, or Outlaw of Torn*last two books in the actual Mars trilogy, but there are 11 books total in the series; it's these two that finish up the John Carter story that started with A Princess of Mars

*smacks Nick* Try reading something new, boy
I'm reading the Hobbit, and I'm gonna read da Da Vinci code when I'm done with it (the Hobbit). They're both hardcovers so I can't take them anyplace, which is usually where I am, preventing me from reading my books regularly. And dragging about large, hardcover books to public places makes me look like the kind of person who NEEDS to have a book in his hands or he'll massacre the place with his bare hands, plus it will only damage my books. __________________ rationalist :: metalhead :: perfectionist :: godless :: happyBlissfully ignoring Hai Yo's lies since 06/21/04 life is flair a brittle dress we wear a fleeting sigh but though pointless it may seem life as death were but a dream.

I'm currently reading God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert, part four in the Dune series. Has anyone else read this series? It's quit interesting in the ways it addresses religion and government.I also recently read Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card, mostly on referral from all of the MOTL members here who liked it. Is the rest of the series worth my time though? I don't mind preachy, actionless books, I mean, I am reading the Dune series, although that series does have some action in it. But is there anything in the rest of the Enders series that is interesting? Or I should I skip the sequels and keep the original pristine and unmarred by bad sequels?

I'm reading the Wheel of Time series right now. Honestly, and I am like the biggest Lord of the Rings fan ever, but this series is on the same level as Lord of the Rings. I seriously can't put it down, I'm averaging about 2-3 days per book, and these are 700 page books. You HAVE to read it if you are into fantasy. Robert Jordan is seriously the Tolkien of our generation.__________________ I know the best things in life are free, but why are the second best so expensive?MOTL Survivor 7 CHAMPION!!!!! Fixed. Ray Bradbury is my favorite author.
I am not reading anything at the moment. (Wait, does MOTL count...) I need to find a book to get interested in. Then, time to read it. __________________ I have the best looking H/W List at MOTL! Read my book! Play Dominoes today! "Welcome to my block list, you loser."
