Managed to 3-1 with an ok BG infect deck. Scars didn't really give me much to work with, but I fortunately got some of the better guys out of the Besieged packs. I did open a Blightsteel Colossus, who happily sat in my sideboard for the day.Real fun story of the day, one of the guys who works at the store took a shot at a box of cards on ebay this guy was selling. All the listing said was that it was a box of like 100 cards from Unl/Rev/Legends. The seller wouldn't answer questions about what was inside. Guy won it for about $100 and got it in yesterday. Highlights inside - 6 duals, Gauntlet of Might, Karakas, Chain Lightning and some assorted other goodies. It's nice to win the lotto sometimes. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

Even better "Alpha and Sealed" in the same sentence. Seems kinda lamebrain the seller has only 10 feedback and auctioning big ticket stuff. Reminds me of an AC/DC song. But hey, you never know <see above>. [Edit] for long-shots.

Very nice indeed! I ended up going Phyrexian and having a super awkward BG Infect deck that couldn't put enough pressure on early and just lost when my opponents bomb(s) came online. I found Living Weapon and Infect were kind of awkward together; one of the two games I "won" was by using a Germ token to punch through for the final points of regular damage. The only removal I had was a Flesh Allergy, which admittedly does have some synergy with Living Weapon, though when you go BG in sealed with one removal spell you are bound to lose a lot. It will be interesting to see how drafts run moving forward. How many people will jump on the infect train, only to have them derailed halfway through the draft?

Went 3-1 with a ho-hum BG Phyrexian deck. All my wins were by poison against WR Mirran decks. Lost round 4 to a WB Phyrexian deck with sick poison and removal. In my 4 prize packs, I got a Tezzeret, Slave of Bolas and Praetor's Counsel. --Evil __________________ I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. It wasn't that bad. We gave out even numbers of packs for prizes so we could do half Mirran and half Phyrexian. THe draft we did afterwards was interesting... it was like 5-3 phyrexia, and the phyrexia boosters had mostly the same commons. I drafted an aggro Red deck with a splach of black. My favorite turn: Piston Sledge on my Goblin Gaveleer, then Kuldotha Rebirth away an Ichor Wellspring. In the main event, I chose Mirran and went 3-3. I played five of my rares: Kuldotha Phoenix Tempered Steel White Sun's Zenith (aka Meow Mix) Myr Turbine Sword of Feast and Famine I dunno, I guess it just didn't come together like I'd have wanted it to. I mulliganed a lot and got flooded several games. It could have been worse... it was a lot of fun! __________________ *MafiaBass*Joshweek*Letter Bombs!*Logout Q: How many mathematicians does it take to change a light bulb? A:0.9¯

0-3 drop after forcing R/W Mirran. Boo. Non-play of the day: I was dead next turn to infect, and he was at thirteen. Went for my last chance: Concussive Bolt with only 2 artifacts, swing nine. He counts damage and says, "You got me." I have to confirm, "No blockers?" "I can't... you said... Oh!" Nice guys finish last...In other news:

I'm trying to decide if I want to run the Blightsteel Colossus from my pool in one of my EDH decks. I'd probably end up cutting it after only one use, simply because I'd feel bad the first time I killed someone with it.Also, I'm sure it will just end up getting stolen with bribery if I do run it. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

Yeah, as good as it would be in my Momir Vig EDH deck, I'm not gonna throw it in there cause I'm not a massive *******. It shows zero thoughtfulness or play skill to run him in an EDH deck. Unless skittles is your general, he just doesn't belong.

Yeah, that's the way I've been feeling about it. I guess I'll just trade him off now and get stuff I can actually use. Bribery is going back in decks though, so I can steal copies others decide to run and kill them with it. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

Yeah it was. There was a LOT more phyrexia than mirrodin players at my lgs, easily 3 out of 4. My first round was against a b/w phyrexian deck, I absolutely thrashed him 2-0 (virulent wound takes out all 2cc infect creatures and turns the tables in a race...awesome card) but I had to concede cause I had to leave afterwards effing parents wanted me home by 1, no excuses. __________________ (Humans) are stubborn, self-destructive conformists. I played at Superstars (the B+M headquarters for Channel Fireball), where they had a turnout of over 200 people. It was about 55/45 split for Phyrexia versus Mirran as far as I could see. I chose Phyrexia and went 3-1 after losing round 1, netting me two Mirran and two Phyrexian Faction Packs. My roommate started off 2-0 and lost the next two rounds. Two of my other friends (including one who got me started with Magic in the first place) went 3-1 and 4-0. I used NONE of my MBS rares (Mitotic Manipulation and TWO Psychosis Crawler), but used all of my SOM rares (Putrefax, Nim Deathmantle, Prototype Portal). I had enough cards to make a B/G infect deck, but I still ended up winning a game with 20 damage - Phyrexian Rager + Nim Deathmantle + Flayer Husk and Plague Maw Beast went all the way. I think that Viridian Corrupter was the MVP of the day, allowing me multiple times to destroy a Living Weapon equipment and allowing me to gain a huge advantage. One game, when I was on the play, turn 2 Plague Stinger, turn 3 Viridian Corrupter destroying his Myr was just enough tempo to win. This is what my sealed deck looked like: Plague Stinger Rot Wolf Flensermite Viridian Corrupter Ichor Rats Phyrexian Rager Necropede Core Prowler Putrefax Tangle Angler Copper Myr Leaden Myr Viridian Emissary Plaguemaw Beast Blightwidow Sylvok Replica Perilous Myr Nim Deathmantle Flayer Husk x2 Virulent Wound x2 Spread the Sickness Edit to add: We had a bad collation error and a small group of Phyrexian people opened NO rares in their packs. The head judge (Eric Levine) remedied the situation by telling those people to set aside those 15 commons and uncommons, which they could NOT use in the sealed, then they would all get a new Phyrexian pack, as long as they took this vow: quote: Eric Levine:
I, {insert name}promise that I will not use these packs and if I do I will go outside and play in traffic.
Two more people at another table had the same problem and he amended his vow to: quote: Eric Levine
... and if I do I will buy Eric a new XBOX.

Anybody feel that the Master's Edition sets, even though they DID get a lot better after ME2, had some weird design choices? ME4 is all about artifacts, but they didn't include a lot of draft-playable ones and made it very possible to duck out of mainboarded artifact removal by not playing very many.Or ME3, they randomly didnt put in some of the more playable legends for some reason when it was the "legends" set.

Finally done with Magic for the weekend. 14 hours of playing over 48 hours starts to take it's toll, I tell ya. Now, I have 14 promo and 3 non-foil Glissas that I have to figure out a use for. :/ In semi-related news, to give you an idea of our play group, we ended up doing a draft since we couldn't pull enough people for 2HG sealed, and I ended up with a pack 1, pick 4 Green Sun's Zenith. At least it paired nicely with my pack 1, pick 1 Thrun. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Trade them to me, please! I'm half way tempted to add my Rob Alexander collection for trade now...to get the cards I need for decks. Should I or should I not do this? I mean I have some cards that are decent- but some crap as well. I am only missing like 4 cards from all of his artwork (Underground Sea, Elephant Graveyard are the hardest to get a hold of) Some cards would be wanted (His duals that are drawn by him) but some are considered total crap rares (Tectonic Instability, Winter's Night, Koskun falls to name a few.) Suggestions?~Revenger __________________ RHBK I'm gonna take care of this cuz I got b.o. Your 2008 and 2010 Motl Siskel & Ebert award winner!

If you feel as if there is no other way to get the cards you need, I say go for it. If you think you can still get the cards you need through other means, then maybe you should hold out a bit longer. __________________ send ref checks, paypal payment or any questions to the email in my profile! Probably won't get rid of the non-foils unless we pull a couple more, as they'll go into the Playset Collection Project. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. I priced out my EDH deck on Apathy House today and it came out as over $1250. The deck isn't done (still need 2 more duals) and I have probably another 100-150 in cards that I swap in to change the deck up when I feel like it. I think I have a problem with this "casual" format.

Why is a foil high market like $40? It's just a really good sack outlet or something?
