If anyone feels like helping out a n00b, I have created a list for my Momir Vig elf deck, but it needs to be pared down, and I also know I'm missing some stuff that really should be included.http://pastebin.com/tQeRE21n __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Usually in EDH 1cc creatures aren't usually strong enough to stay in a deck so I would eliminate pretty much every 1 cc elf.Nextly Rhys the Exiled is illegal in your deck so he's got to go and you forgot one of the best elves, Chameleon Colossus. Lastly you are playing both Defense of the Heart and Tooth and Nail so play some creatures worth putting into play for free, such as Woodfall Primus and Vigor. Also in a swarm type deck the more win con's the better, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa plays well with all the mana elves can generate, and I'd also consider adding Rofellos for one of the weaker elf mana producers.

Oops, thanks for the catch on Rhys! I have added the cards that you suggested. Not quite ready to start cutting stuff out yet, but I'll keep the low-CC Elves in mind when I get there. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. I would just start from the bottom up and cut stuff like Wildslayer Elves and Elvish Eulogist. EDH doesn't make most of the good Elves any worse than they are in other formats. Also since your general tutors you can keep that in mind when cutting Elves. You can probably just play Taunting Elf and then cut everything with a similar ability for example. Also consider the following: Mystic Snake Slate of Ancestry Skullclamp Lightning Greaves __________________ Most References in Massachusetts 85th All-timeSupport my friend's store: http://www.tabletoparena.com

Ah, Momir Vig... He's my signature EDH deck (yet, with Riku coming out, that might just change...). I'm constantly building new and cannibalizing old EDH decks but Momir is the one I leave untouched and gets priority on deck staples (I only have one genesis, for example, and Vig has dibs). Here's my decklist Nder Lands: 13 Islands 11 Forests Tranquil Thicket Rupture Spire Temple of the False God Simic Growth Chamber Dryad Arbor Evolving Wilds Terramorphic Expanse Halimar Depths Vivid Creek Slippery Karst Treetop Village Vivid Grove Lonely Sandbar Ancient Ziggurat Land Ramp/Mana Fixing: Simic Signet Darksteel Ingot Coiling Oracle Oracle of Mul Daya Rites of Flourishing Krosan Tusker Farhaven Elf Recursion: All Sun's Dawn Praetor's Counsel Revive Eternal Witness Genesis Counterspells/Card draw/Card filtering: Blue Sun's Zenith Counterspell Overwhelming Intellect Mystic Snake Dismiss Kederekt Leviathan (great reset button) Familiar's Ruse Crystal Ball Lead the Stampede Sylvan Library Cream of the Crop Consecrated Sphinx Overbeing of Myth Tutoring (including cheap Vig triggers, cause that's what they're for): Elvish Visionary Carven Caryatid Wall of Blossoms Wistful Selkie Winged Coatl Fauna Shaman Green Sun's Zenith Bounce: Tidespout Tyrant Crystal Shard Equilibrium Cloudstone Curio Copy effects: Body Double Vesuvan Shapeshifter Rite of Replication Mimic Vat Spitting Image Game-enders: Darksteel Colossus Pelakka Wurm Terastodon Woodfall Primus Tornado Elemental Avenger of Zendikar Pathrazer of Ulamog Multani, Maro-Sorceror General goodstuff: masked Admirers Seedborn Muse Lightning Greaves Vedalken Orrery Venser's Journal Primal Command Whispersilk Cloak Genesis Wave Beast Within Indrik Stomphowler Trygon Predator Maybe it'll give you some ideas! __________________ "I never got any respect at all. You might also look at triumph of the horde if you'd like to get a bunch of dudes into play and a random one shot kill. Its kinda all or nothing, but can win on the spot sometimes.

Yeah, it would, if I had it I'll make the cut as soon as I can pick up a Restock and then use All Sun's Dawn on the RUG deck I'll pick up and tune next week. __________________ "I never got any respect at all. My family moved a lot when I was a kid, but I always found them." -- Rodney Dangerfield

My thinking with multiple Taunting Elf effects is that once my elves are big enough, I can send one "everyone block me" creature to each opponent left, and nuke them all in one strike to ensure that the other players don't all gang up on me as they see me wiping out players one by one with my swarm. I am trying to weed out some similar-ability duplicates, but it's hard to determine what effects I might need multiples of (such as sac to destroy target artifact, etc.). I have removed a bunch from the list, and marked some others with a ? on the list as ones that I'm likely to drop, but wanted someone else who actually knows what they're talking about to look and see if I'm making any big mistakes.

It's easier to see what you have when you group your cards by functionality rather than card type. It's a long list to go through. Just glancing over your list, three glaring omissions stand out to me: sylvan library, genesis, and survival of the fittest. I'd strongly recommend putting them in, you won't be sorry.

Homeward Path, very nice design (although, extremely undercosted for its effect).I guess green is now definitively much better than blue in non-cutthroat EDH.

Not a fan of Homeward Path Since its almost an auto include in any EDH deck and stops Bribery and Acquire form keeping BSC in check.

But Bribery and Acquire are better cards than BSC to start off with.

So on the subject of combos and fun in EDH, how far is far enough? Obviously a two-card combo that ends the game almost immediately or goes infinite(Rofellos + Staff of Domination, Grim Monolith + Power Artifact) is too far, but how about three? If you were playing against someone and they put together Magistrate's Scepter + Coretapper + Contagion Engine, would you consider that taking the fun away or a good play?On the same note, from the spoilers so far I believe my next deck is going to be based on Damia, Sage of Stone. I can't wait for next week when they launch. __________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

Well, based on the spoiled cards I will need stuff from the BUG and RUG decks. Now to decide if tracking down singles will be cheaper than just buying the decks.__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

If they are just stalling and tutoring up pieces the whole time i would gang up on that person or stop playing with them. I don't think it's really fun. If it happens organically because they just happen to get it, then LOL i guess. I actually specifically pulled Thopter Assembly, Time Sieve, Sword of the Meek, and Thopter Foundry from Sharuum because i play with tutors and recursion and i think i might just be tempted to pull them over and over. Obviously a part of me thinks that would be fun to do but still, i look at it as a "how would you feel if someone else did it?" - i feel like i wouldn't be interested in playing with them. Soooo. Grixis zombie sacrifice/reanimate themed EDH deck with Thraximundar and Sedris The Traitor King (interchangeable generals for more fun). I'm thinking there might not be as much blue stuff as i would want green, and that green has good Golgari cards that fit in this deck. Buuuut, it's hard to say no to Thraximundar and such. These are the most important blue cards in my deck to me: Grixis Grimblade - just an auto-include since i play with themes Unscythe, Killer of Kings - makes a creature a beefy murderer that craps out dudes, and i've got a decent number of ways to crap out dudes Prince of Thralls - fuuuuuun, hilarious, and i have ways to eliminate masses of enemy creatures, and combat between other players Elder Mastery - I don't know, it's not great but i like it. Probably actually the first thing i'd cut out of this list Slave of Bolas - Awesome art! Good removal, considering the theme of the deck is about me sacrificing stuff to punish others Lim-Dul's Vault - It's good Diabolic Vision - Not as good but still cool Memory Plunder - Flavorful and fun but probably not playing it anyway Brine Shaman - Good countermagic since i want to sacrifice creatures Lich Lord of Unx - Craps out dudes, which is awesome since i sacrifice so much stuff. Then it burns and mills, and i play cards the reanimate enemies creatures as well. I don't really play counterpspells and draw since it's not in theme, unless it's somehow evil themed (Necropotence, Lim-Dul's Vault, Undermine, Withering Boon) and i'm not worried about playing hardcore so cutting blue isn't going to hurt that way. I am almost considering playing some bullcrap 5 color general just to play everything but white >.> So, what i'm asking is what ideas are there for good green cards that help this sac/reanimate theme? Some i have in mind: Kresh Charnelhoard Wurm Gleancrawler Savra Golgari Germination Dragon Appeasement ?? Thanks you anyone who read this, i'm too damn bored to do other things today so i have all the time to rant about this.

Here's some that could be fun:Greater Good Birthing Pod Cloudthresher Doomgape Golgari Guildmage Heart Warden Momentous Fall Mycoloth Ooze Garden Skullmulcher Viridian Zealot Yavimaya Elder On the combo thing, at least two of the three cards(Engine/Scepter) are ones that are going to be going into the deck anyway. I don't plan on playing too much tutoring in this one, probably only some tutors for creatures. __________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

Thats what I thought until I started building it. It seemed to lack fun when my list was time warp p2 Time warp p3k time warp time stretch fof Tooth and nail g wave primeval titan inferno titan frost titan avenger of zendikar consecrated sphinx the lists were both a little larger, but I deleted them because well... I could play a watered down list, but meh. I think I might keep this dude on the back burner for a tournament or something. I also considered Animar, Soul of Elements but felt it would too closely resemble the warp world deck I have together. I don't really like building two versions of the same deck. Given that, I went and build a sygg, the river cutthroat deck instead. The new generals just aren't sparking any creativity for me right now so I'll hold off a while I think.

Couple quick questions...Sorry if these have been addressed already... 1: What is the overall opinion of Gold Bordered and Collectors edition cards in casual play? 2: How do you feel when playing against an infect EDH deck. As I understand it you can still only get 10 poison counters. seems kind of cheating. Thanks Tim

Most groups accept these, and EDH rules say nothing about not being able to use them as Proxy (sheldon has made comments that he himself, is ok with people using GB stuff.) quote:

I went agianst Skytherix once, was hard, but ..any 4/4 flying haste regenerator is going to be. My personal opinion about PSN however is that I don't see it alot, but if someone wants to use a crutch to deal 10, instead of 40 or 21, all power to them.

We don't use proxies at all. If you really want to play with a card, go trade for it/buy it. It's still magic, so you play with real cards.

<-would like to point out that the GB stuff are "real" cards in most senses. Just the back is different, with gold instead of white or black border. Also, WOTC released the GB decks for several reasons. Also, its a casual format, you can't make any restrictions on it. __________________ Joz - can we ban Leshrac for not fixing the Chrome PM issue?Gunslinga - If I thought it would help, and if I could, I would.

If you can't play it in a sanctioned tournament, it isnt a real card. Cant play GB, -> not real cards. And you can put whatever restrictions you want on a casual format, so long as you let everyone know. It is generally accepted for EDH that gold bordered, along with CE and IE, cards are ok. But some playgroups dont feel that way. Check with the people you are playing with and see how they feel.
