From Maros blog:mrtickles22 asked: Why aren't there more pigs in magic? What about pigfolk? I’ve designed the one pig in Magic (Atinlay Igpay in Unhinged) so I am definitely pro-pig. * He missed Offalsnout and Zodiac Pig. But still.

Well, looks like I'm unofficially running Magic around here again. The employee who's been handling it for the store walked out today after working 15 straight days and not getting paid on time, so 2 previous employees who'd been let go got rehired, and neither one really wants to run the events. I'm going to request TO status, but not really expecting that to happen. On the plus side, we've worked out a schedule to alternate FNMs, every other week is Standard, and the in between weeks will rotate between Modern and 2-Headed Giant to give us some variety. Should be interesting, and I'm already plotting backup locations should the need arise.__________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Sounds like that place is a real winner. What kind of labor laws do they have that this place isn't closed already? __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 2nd in posts in Canada 10th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Hard to keep employees if they work 7 days a week and they don't get payed, sounds like a crappy place to work, I'm wondering why the former employees came back at all.

Oh, it gets a lot worse, but I don't really want to talk about the details publicly. I really wish I could afford to open up my own store and let people see how things are done correctly for once. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. I was just over at that other MTG site, MTGS. I dont wanna sound like a jerk or anything but what do you think the average age of the user is over there? I ask because I was reading a topic about a store employee playing in a tournie and winning fair and square. 3 pages of people saying its wrong due to it being gambling, unfair, ect.. So God forbid I ever got a job at my card shop, according to them I could never win a tournie there again. Cause some of them said it was in poor taste that he won. So I guess it woulda been fine if he lost. Damn my heads going to explode

Those young whippersnappers, so lazy and entitled with there EYE-Phones and EYE-Macs and those newfangled NINTENDOES. In my day we worked without getting paid 14 days a week and were happy to have the work. No wonder nobody wants to hire these lazy, unskilled, demanding people who certainly need a reality check. Vote Romney!

And now you've learned never to read that site. To be fair playing in any tourny could be considered gambling. Paying X dollars to win X prizes. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 2nd in posts in Canada 10th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

I agree up to the vote Romney part, then you lost me. One of my local stores was worse though, you couldn't draw ever, wasn't allowed to happen, and people hated byes so much they would all just drop from the event... __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

So even if it went to time you just had to keep playing? __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 2nd in posts in Canada 10th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Depends on who was there, some times it was a draw, other times they made up rules on the fly. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

I was making fun of stupid people who complain about the younger generation. And stupid old people vote Romney. Just look up the election stats. Stupid Old People are in there between Spanish-Americans and Turkish-Americans. Also, Romney once said something similar to that phrase. Because a man who never has to work to eat and was born into wealth is just so in touch with the struggles of youth.

Returning to things more closely related to Magic:Another FNM, another profitable night! I opened Hallowed Fountain in P1P1, got Supreme Verdict in P2P1, and played a ridiculously slow Bant (Azorius, splash green) deck that featured SEVEN cards with CMC = 6. I played with 3 Trostani's Judgment, 2 Isperia's Skywatch, and 2 Courser's Accord. Dramatic Rescue, Avenging Arrow, 2 Towering Indrik and a Pegaus were my early game (along with Supreme Verdict, of course), and I just tried to stay long enough for some combination of Slime Molding, Horncaller's Chant, or Cyclonic Rift to win it for me. 2-1, and opened a Sphinx's Revelation. That's enough for a free draft this week, enough to pay for next week's draft and a little bit extra. I love drafting this set.
