I assume this will again increase the cost of shipping into CA from the US?

It will not. Canadian lettermail is going up 15 cents. But the "P" stamps are still valid, I believe. I'm going to stock up on them.

Almost a buck, getting steep. but, if you look at the chart comparing the cost of a group mailbox to individual home delivery, I'm surprised that hasn't happened already. Hell, I'm surprised larger US cities haven't already done this. They shut down two of our post offices this year to save money. I would have rather them started to phase in communal boxes rather than a) get rid of two pretty busy (IMHO) and convenient offices and b) lay off some of the employees. But I'm to picture a communal box even in my neighborhood of about 300 houses and picturing the cluster it would be for a long little while.

"Hell, I'm surprised larger US cities haven't already done this" Some cities in the US have. My in-laws neighborhood does community boxes for each block. There would probably be a ton of backlash if they did this for anything but new developments. The post office will also have to claim domanin over the land where the boxes will go - and you can bet that very few people will want the box in front of their own house.

The boxes are usually off to the side of the house or in an alley on the side. They are not usually front and center.

Best do it quick: they're gonna stop selling them 'til after March 1.

I'm confused - how does a P stamp affect mailing a letter to Canada from the United States? I don't think that USPS accepts Canadian stamps.

Read them as 2 separate thoughts in one post and you won't be confused. The first line affects US residents, the second line affects Canadians. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. This story reminds me of quite a few small town local stores I have played in over the years. My personal favorite was the store in a gutted 100+ year old building and an owner that smoked like a chimney and had about 5-10 cats running around. Not even sure if they were his cats or just strays from the ghetto he set up shop in. That place was always freezing. I don't even know if he was legally set up in there. It was the only place that had regular T1 events in a 100 mile radius of where I was living at the time. This latest story seems pretty consistent with the horror stories I often hear about the small store PTQ system. So many LGS owners get these events, but absolutely botch things up when it comes to running them. They think holding an event in their regular store is a perfectly rational idea...even if it violates several building/fire/health codes. I'm so glad to live in an area now with at least three good stores close by and a major TO in the region who knows what he's doing. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. I used to play Vs System there. Luckily there were never huge turnouts

Small stores feel entitled is basically what it comes down to, dealt with a few myself, some people just shouldn't have stores, let alone run events, makes the game look bad. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

I wouldn't consider kings games a small store. If its the same one I remember its owned by Alex schvartsman, ex pro tour player. They've set up at grand prixs and pro tours before. I wouldn't call that being a small store. However their conditions in the store are deplorable at best from what I read.

Someone should alter a Tribute to Hunger to reflect The Hunger Games.__________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S. EliotRIP Ari Legacy UGB River Rock primer. PM comments/questions. Info on grad school in Phil.

Does wizards give any sort of education on running events? I'm curious about that. As for the store's conditions they are disgusting, but the writer of the article was too whiny. I agreed with his statements, but didn't want to. It was a very one side article. I'm not familiar with that store but have encountered other shops that were less than ideal... Does this store make a lot of profit? Does it have the money to improve? I don't know, but the article came across as extremely juvenile. A child entitled to his cookie after a meal.

Does anyone else think "Mr. F" from Arrested Development when anyone abbreviates Deathrite Shaman, DRS ("Dr. S")

I'd rather have Sol Ring than any of the p9. Maybe recall is an exception, but that's it. Time walk? Sol Ring is a double time walk.

Agreed, There are people I've talked to who don't allow Sol Ring in their cubes because its power level is so high. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario and Canada 9th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

So would I. But, how many Time Walks are available on MTGO? Just the thought of pulling and/or playing a POWER 9 makes people draft em, knowing they won't get another chance, well till next xmas time. Sure you can't keep it, but you can't keep the Sol Ring either. So people draft the Power 9 knowing they won't see em any time soon. __________________ 28th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona!
