Does anyone know why Crucible of Worlds has been on a slow-and-steady climb? As far as I can tell, it's just a sideboard card for a few decks. Does this have something to do with EDH?__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Probably. From what I hear, new Omnath seems to be a pretty popular general.

Tolarian Community College started hosting some Magic: the Amateuring videos on his channel. View counts for them are dropping like rocks....still more than MTG Headquarters though...

A video the Professor posted seven hours ago at the time of me posting this, has more views than one of the Amateuring videos that was posted four days ago. I accidentally clicked one a couple days ago, and most of the comments were along the lines of "Why is this even here?"

Looks like WotC is banning hard for the Kozilek and Waste spoiler. It appears that the cards were shown to judges to gather feedback and at least one judge shared it. Roberto Gonzales, of MTG Focus, who shared the cards on Twitter got a 3 year suspension.Mtg focus statement https://twitter.com/mtgfocus/status/679134468033024000 Almost everything is also on Reddit but with lots of speculation and hearsay https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/3xrtyv/most_of_the_l3_judges_in_the_southeast_us_region/ Ban list - many south-east region judges got 3 months http://magic.wizards.com/en/content/suspended-dci-memberships WotC statement http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/statement-concerning-recent-suspensions-2015-12-21 Judge program statement https://mobile.twitter.com/ahalavais/status/679201528096296961

Seems like an overreaction to something that primes demand for their products. I get it legally speaking, but temporary bans? How about they just get some in-house peoples with rules knowledge to figure that crap out instead? Technically speaking, judges aren't employees unless they're at a certain level.__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. Drama grows! http://apps.magicjudges.orgJudges took down the judge application site in protest of dci suspensions. "tl;dr -- the magicjudges.org network of sites is suspended in protest of recent actions by Wizards of the Coast. For details, read on."

So I guess that SCG event in Atlanta in January is going down with the site? __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread

Updated WotC response.http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/statement-concerning-recent-suspensions-2015-12-21 Tldr: the suspensions were justified because this group (of judges) shared in spoiled cards in the past even though they didn't leak them to the greater public. Helen Bergot is going to appear on an upcoming mtgfocus podcast. I find the last bit very odd as mtg focus was the podcast that spoiled the information outside the group (they haven't said publicly who inside the group showed them) and R.G. got a three year suspension.

Considering Jess Dunks, CJ Shrader, and Bryan Prillaman (two of whom are suspended) were already selected as the head judges. There's a good chances SCG is scrambling to fly in new judges. Of course they could always run the event without DCI sanctioning. I'm not sure if WotC gives them any financial or promotional(foils/supplies) support anyway. DCI sanctioning is more to make players comfortable with consistent rulings and whatnot. Edit: for those not aware those three judges I named run a very good judge podcast called judgecast and they have openly announced they were all selected for the same SCG event. I think it's Atlanta but I could be wrong on that detail.

I don't play legacy or Vintage, my only interest is that it was a favourite card of mine in casual back in the day, so can someone please explain to me why Chains of Mephistopheles has risen so much in value. Yes I get it turns of cards like Brainstorm but most decks only play one in the side and those few decks that do play it main only run 2 maybe 3 at the most.I do understand that by todays standards Legends is a fairly limited print run but $400 median seems like there is more too it than the obvious.

It gets played. It's rare. It's from an extremely rare set.Other rares from Legends. Tabernacle, $800 (4x in legacy lands) Most, $300 (Played at all in competitive?) Eureka, $100 (I think I've seen this in a top 8 this year) Falling Star, $4.25 (banned in all formats)

To my knowledge, Moat is not played Competitively, nor is Eurkea. They are all played in EDH quite often. But Legends was such as small set, and with some absurdly powerful cards, that anything from it that is even half-good, is worth way, WAY more than it really should be. physical rarity + very unique effect + power = costly.

no, its actually a BIG set with a small PRINT run. making the rares that much more rare.

Also wasn't there some weird issue with how Legends was distributed or printed, somehow with the printing a higher percentage of certain rares or uncommons ended up in one part of the country much more than the other coast and vice a versa.

It was a problem with the uncommons. Some of the boxes had a small blue mark on the bottom (they got half the uncommons) and some did not (they got the other half of the uncommons).
