How do you feel about Brainstorm without shuffle? The mana that is available from those sets? Playing against a Green deck? Delver does seem like a very good shell though. Swap Ice Age for Khans, and you get fetches and Mentor. You can use 5th Ed for Brainstorm or one of the M12/13/14 for either ponder or preordain instead?

Disperse or Essence scatter seems better than Incinerate for this deck. (And fuels Force.) And I think I'd replace Thought Scour with Clairvoyance (slow cantrip, but gives information on their hand.) Also, Portent, Power Sink, Swords. Arcane Denial, and Martyr of Frost can work as well. Also.. Geist of St. Traft, Temporal Mastery (got Brainstorm anyway, and would kinda work with Clarivoyance, Portent, and Arcane Denial,) Dissipate is also a thing. Black is also ridiculously easy to splash when you've got access to pain lands and Innistrad lands anyway - Lingering Souls, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad would also be a good sideboard card. UW; or UW/b seems best for IA/Inn/M14

Was Necropotence ever banned in type 2? All I can only find it banned in other formats.

Those are really strong decks that are entirely contained within a single block. Seems like a good start to just add things here and there. But I didn't play back then and have absolutely no idea where to begin building. This isn't a supported format so testing is pretty much nil until the day of the event. Half the fun is brewing but I don't want to waste my time on a pile though.
Untested formats usually bow to burn. Hellspark elemental, goblin guide, plated geopede, etc might be ok. Blood moon would probably wreck.

the mana is god awful which is why thought scour is in there. Snow basics though. How can you even be mad at running them? Probably 1-2 Ghost Quarter, 1 Mutavault, 1 Desolate Lighthouse, 4 Sulfur Falls, and even 2 evolving wilds to shuffle sadly. The only reason I picked those was to meet my goal, which is to play Delver and Young Pyromancer. I think building BYOS is basically a game of; what cards do i REALLY want to play and what sets have the best shell to build around it

To my knowledge Necropotence was banned near the end of its life in Standard after the Summer of Black Death made standard painfully boring to play. I could be wrong though because I stopped playing for the last bit of standard when Necropotence was legal because standard was very boring when you either played against Necropotence decks or Stasis decks.

Those aren't burn spells though. quote: Originally posted by dfitzg88: The only reason I picked those was to meet my goal, which is to play Delver and Young Pyromancer. That is a really good reason to play. Having fun is the biggest part of BYOS. I'd love to be able to play Mythic again, and I'm trying to build a storm deck.

Obviously those aren't the burn spells, but they are the backup to the burst lightning, searing blaze, etc/

With tempest block, you'd also get jackal pup and cursed scroll and shock and wasteland and price of progress. With mirage block, you'd get incinerate and fireblast. I havent played burn enough to think about the ramifications of picking each block.

Have you seen the price for Crucible of Worlds? Quit bitching about Wall of Omens and play Wall of Blossoms instead!

I have no deck that runs or needs either. Quit making assumptions when someone is curious about a price spike.

Wall of omens has been climbing steadily since last summer, and started rising fast this winter. I'm not sure it's fair to call it a spike. That out of the way, there are lots of NM and LP copies on TCG player in the $6-7 range.

Eldrazi decks had the highest day 2 conversion rate for the pro-tour. Archetype seems to be tier-1. I would not be surprised if eye of ugin gets banned when SOI is released.https://twitter.com/mtggoldfish/status/696039260999323652

I'm so glad the twin banning made the T8 so diverse. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

To be fair, with the day 1 meta being mostly comprised of affinity and burn, chalice of the void, spellskite, and a full set of ghost quarters probably made the deck the best pick for day 1. once the metagame adjusts, i imagine things will change.

I hope so, but keep in mind this deck virtually has 8 solrings, 4 of which are repeatable tutors, so definitely should be on the watch list as of right now.

Does the deck construction rules follow the banned rules for the block? If it does Cursed Scroll is banned in Tempest block constructed.

Weekly change in Standard prices looks just silly. Endless One just broke my losing streak in bad spec investments.

Glad I got my order in on Friday morning before the prices went crazy. This could just be another hardened scales though and be back down in a month.
