Makes sense. I think foil Thoughtseize from Lorwyn are more likely than non-foil ones.

Heh, well it's kind of hard to find enough stuff to justify trading off a 7.5 beta lotus. but if you can do 3/4s cash :-p

Bought a couple shoeboxes of commons and uncommons from a dude today for $40. No complaints about the 17 M10/M11 Lightning Bolts that were in there. I didn't spend a ton, and it was a decent bit of shoring up my list on Pucatrade. Things were starting to get pretty sparse. I pulled a small little stack, and it was $120 worth. The Bolts, Relentless Rats, Pathrazers, Go For the Throats, etc.

Holy crap! Modern staples are spiking all over the place and we're still a month or two away from the beginning of Modern season. Is there heavy speculation going on??__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. People don't want to get caught with their pants down like last season. (Go glimmervoid go!). More people are also shopping at the beginning of the year - or so I hear

I bought 15x from the vault realms around christmas time at $100-$110. Now just the grove is almost worth that. Absolute insanity.

THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN FULFILLED. EDIT: When does Modern season actually "start" in terms of relevance? I gathered some stuff a few months ago for a deck, but I'm thinking I might just shoot for cashing out. Prices like this make it very difficult to actually consider keeping a competitive collection around when I can do maybe 1-2 events a year. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. I've been thinking of playing both online and paper more competitively instead of being a collector, but how could I hold inquis @20+ each? Just for an OCCASIONAL modern event at the LGS? Pretty sick to trade a playset of those straight for a non blue expo fetch. Seems like the play to me

The price of magic cards is just going to #1. Continue to rise with Inflation. #2. Continue to rise with a growing consumer base. #3. Continue to rise because people don't want to miss out on the next big ticket low-profile card.Solution: Buy out Hasbro. Absolve MOST of the reserved list except power nine. Put in clause to allow gold-border prints. Reprint the thing not on the reserved list using supplemental product such as WELL designed FTV, CMDR sets, duel-decks, etc... And fire Rosewater.

http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=magic/products/reprintpolicy Im sure as soon as they do that, some asshat with a lawyer will make a fuss and it'll get changed again. relevant sections quoted here: Reserved cards will never be printed again in a functionally identical form. Starting in 2011, no cards on the reserved list will be printed in either premium or non-premium form. Wizards of the Coast may print special versions of cards not meant for regular game play, such as oversized cards. so its fuzzy. obviously gold bordered arent functionally identical because they're explicitly not legal and therefor not functional. BUT do they consider gold bordered cards 'not meant for regular gameplay'.

People have been shouting for a vintage or legacy cube, gold-border, for years. And it would sell like mad. But so far, it seems the only cube WOTC is willing to put out is online.

Why is WotC making controlling strategies damn near unplayable? It's going that way in standard. It is that way in Modern. Seems like Legacy is more slanted towards proactive decks. Miracles seems to be the only exception that does well.__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Because in their hubris, they've decided what "fun" consists of, and you're going to play by the rules of their idea of fun, and ****ing like it, or else Mark Rosewater will burn your ****ing house down because he wrote for Roseanne.

WotC is trying to kill legacy and vintage even harder than before. TO THE PITCHFORKS! AND BRING THE TORCHES!
