This is one of the most mediocre sets I've ever seen. Maybe as bleh as Dragon's Maze, almost as blehch as Forgotten Empires. (As a commander only player for constructed decks, and sometimes cube. rarely booster limited events.)Angel of Sanctions looks great, but its not the right wording, and a 3/4 doesn't last long in Commander, Embalm is cute - but self-exiling my stuff is not how I like to play.
Anointed Procession, this looks cute - and would give me an excuse to jam a Elspeth or two into my Radiant deck. But its just another piece of bull**** for tokens-producer-decks like Ghave and Marath(? the naya token one..)
Cast Out is interesting, flash is nice, cycling is nice - but Sun Titan can't get it back like it can O-Stone and Banish.
Protection of the Hekma is fine in a pillow-fort deck, just run it along side Urza's Armor and it might kind of amusing actually. I may have to put my monowhite prison/fort deck back together actually...
Sparring Mummy - more combo Jiki-Twin.....bleh. And it is a 3/3 which can be important.
Vizier of Deferment still just Banishing Light with Flash. But with a situational trigger.
So...nothing from white that I want - except for Procession, and that's a big, big if.
Vizier of Many Faces is just a clone, with Embalm. Nothing exciting there.
Commit//Memory is just more "meh".
Not a single blue card in this set that is interesting...
Archfiend of Ifnir looks interesting, if you can build around it with cycling and discard effects, it's a strong one-sided wrath with legs. Also, that art is amazing.
Never//Return is ... a solid 3 mana planeswalker removal spell, but its' only Sorcery ... and the Return part is about as medicore as it could be without being straight up irrelevant.
By Force is fine red artifact-hate, but still not as good as Vandalblast.
Combat Celebrant is a 3 mana second combat trick stick with summoning sickness. Not much about it, not playable other than in 40 and 60 card formats.
Glorious End - Well....Sundial of the Infinite and this are a .. "combo."
Warfire Javelineer might be a decent FTK, but again it depends on your graveyard being full of specific card types.
Nothing exciting in red, moving on.
Quarry Hauler kills planeswalkers, with green. Enough for me to try it...somewhere...?
Sandwurm Convergence. Wurms? Yes. On endstep? Yes.
Shefet Monitor isn't a creature, it's an instant that reads "draw a card and get a land into play for four mana." I'd rather have "get two lands," in a four mana sorcery.
Vizier of the Menagerie is definitively playable. Easy four mana, easy splash, lets you use any mana color to play creatures. 10/10 will jam in many decks.
One green card, maybe two.....except for Vizier of the Zoo, nothing to exciting.
Bounty of the Luxa .... draw 0.5 cards, or ramp 1.5 mana. On a four mana enchantment? No thanks.
Nissa, Steward of Elements's middle ability is the only thing that interests me. And only because of putting more lands into play is my motto.
Samut, Voice of Dissent is something I think will be very good in Hazezon. Flash being the key reason.
Two decent multicolor cards, one for ramp, one for aggro.
Edifice of Authority, more pillow fort!
Oracle’s Vault, I really hate cards that give people ways to cheat big things into play. I hate that part of magic. Full retail or bust.
There's one card for sure I'd want to get...if I remade my pillowfort/prison deck. Artifacts are meh'er then meh.
Cascading Cataracts is cute. AND it is indestructible. And I might play it in a Grixis deck that's 100% multicolor cards.
Cycling duals - Does it have forest or plains subtype? Playable. If not, then no.
Overall, I rate this set a 2/7
