Sorry MM. I was just fondly remembering how I almost always used to accuse jott, right off the bat. I have no idea where he went or what he's up to. MM, as I recall, you wanted the season of 10 games to end in September. For that we computed a game length of 21 days plus 2-3 days of downtime. If you are going to need 10-12 days between games, the season is going to end somewhere around Christmas. My understanding was you wanted to avoid that.I recommend that if you are busy enough that you can't run back to back games with 3 days of downtime, you might want to consider alternating GM duties with someone else, and thus running every other game, giving you a few weeks of recovery time. Unless of course, you are unconcerned with the end date of the season, I had the impression you were, but if that's incorrect, then it's all good as it is. I just wanted to bring it to your attention in case it slipped your mind. __________________ -- PlasteredDragon A.K.A. Chuck Seggelin * Sagewood Studios * My Flickr Photostream * My Blog *

Alright, I don't think I'm the one being alluded to, but I wanna double check. Define an insult for me in this scenario--are we talking solely about the extreme cases? (see: the player who called Woolly a moron a couple of games ago) Are people with attitudes like Bernek & Tranderas affected by such things? Is it still fair game to tell someone they're making a dumb play or that they're playing a bad game, or are we going to play werecarebear?Just covering my ass as necessary. __________________ MOTL's answer to Billy Crystal. Even before the kill I'm suspicious of PD, GLE and Liq. Usually the wolves kill these people off and when they are alive they tend to be the baddies, except for last game when PD was left alive until the last kill.

I think it's a reference to the post made by Montague toward the end of the last game.

GLE I am a little discouraged by the fact that I have an attitude when I play. This is the reason I have avoided playing. I am not trying to have an attitude behind my writing. I write as I see fit but when I read it in my head it doesn't come off that way. My apologies to the people if this is how you feel. For the better of the game if people feel as though I have an attitude and I am being an *** about it. By all means just tell me and I won't bother with this game here forward. I get excited when I read stuff that don't sound right to me. I get very eager to post. I just hate the fact that everyone shoots down my ideas. Then someone comes up with their own and people follow and they were wrong just like me. So like I said I will play this game and if people feel I am being a hinderance just LMK. It's something people clearly keep forgetting, so I am mentioning it so you guys don't punt the game again by following their every word. They can go as far as accidentally giving themselves away but because they are so charismatic they don't need to defend themselves, as people will just assume it was a "typo" (obvious example comes to mind). No need to put down my accusation just because you don't agree with it though.

Don't you worry about it Bernek. We grow used to your style and I like you just fine. I will always suggest areas of improvement--but don't let that discourage you.quote: Originally posted by Bernek77: I just hate the fact that everyone shoots down my ideas. First, part of the game is knowing how to convince people. If people are shooting down your ideas, it might be entirely in the presentation, or there really might be an issue with the idea in question. And secondly, having a well presented and well thought out argument doesn't mean one is correct. But for the most part people respond better to calm and well thought out presentations than they do to excited bursts of ideas which may seem half-baked. The fact that a carefully reasoned argument turned out to be wrong isn't a mark against carefully reasoned arguments, my friend. Try not to let it bother you... roll with it. If you keep being right time and time again, people will start to overlook your style and pay attention to your substance. quote: Originally posted by ryan2754: This is one of the stupidest things that I could think of to say before the N0 kill: Why make suspicions of people already?
Eh. He's just doing what he thinks is best. I see his point. Yeah it's a little preemptive, but whatever.quote: Originally posted by XplicitR: It's something people clearly keep forgetting, so I am mentioning it so you guys don't punt the game again by following their every word. First of all--I agree with you in principle, if people are going to listen to me, I want it to be on the solidity of my arguments and not because they just love my creamy, seductive, cinnamon-scented prose or my stunning good looks. If you look back over past games, you'll note I've often posted a reminder that if you are looking to place blame for being lead somewhere, blame yourself for allowing yourself to be lead.Secondly, yes, you were right to suspect GLE, but your argument about him putting the word "(citizen)" after your name wasn't very compelling, he was listing various players and putting "(citizen)" after the names of those who had been revealed. It could as easily have been a cut and paste error--that was a very plausible explanation. I say this not to get in a peeing match with you, but to remind you that you need to be as objective about your own arguments as you wish everybody else was about GLE's, Liq's, and mine. The argument you hearken back to was weak--the fact that you were correct doesn't strengthen the argument as framed. Thirdly, and most importantly, chill. You apparently have a chip on your shoulder, and you need to get past it if you want people to be more receptive to your arguments. Framing people as agreeing with certain other players simply because they are "charismatic" is incredibly uncharitable. If you couldn't convince people it doesn't necessarily mean they are easily duped fanboys--you could just be making an argument that isn't as strong as you think it is. I seem to recall a game not too long ago where a certain player claimed this was a "everybody does what PD says" game as if I was handing out marching orders and people weren't capable of listening to what I had to say and deciding for themselves that it made sense. I was a cit. We won. As noted earlier, I agree with you in principle--we should not allow ourselves to be overly swayed by a player simply because he is funny, or sweet, or well spoken. It behooves us to dispassionately consider all arguments (including our own). BUT--we're all grownups here, and I think we all understand this--it's not GLE/Liq/PD, 13 mindless drones, and you. That said, keep pointing out what you think needs pointing out--it's better than sitting there in silence. __________________ -- PlasteredDragon A.K.A.
