Morrowind would have been much better without the endless fetch quests or the boring walking.

Bethesda's RPGs have become progressively worse since Morrowind, my favorite RPG of all time. I wish they'd return to that formula: Simple yet deep game, with a massive world, intertwining faction storylines, a house you can buy and build up by completing quests, and a grand storyline that you feel like more than a cursory part of. I played morrowind for 350+ hours; oblivion, around 60, and F3 around 30. I want more of what made Morrowind good.

To be fair, Bioware also took out my favorite part of Mass Effect (planet landing and exploration) for ME 2, and I dislike KoTOR/KoTOR2 due to being too linear and repetitive. Because I hold out hope that bethesda will make me a new Morrowind, I find myself more excited for Elder Scrolls V than ME3 or a new Fallout.

Bethesda has a project I'm much more interested than either of these series, though- Brink. I can't wait to try free roaming FPS goodness!

I played Morrowind, and honestly - I think it was too much. Too much work on the players' end to get things going, and then there was all the "behind the scenes" dice rolls and such going on that I felt like I wasn't really getting anywhere. That said, the world was expansive (bigger than Cyrodil IIRC) AND it had 2 relatively large expansion packs both the same size or bigger than Shivering Isles (it's been a while since I touched Morrowind, so correct me if I'm wrong). But with all the content, it's easy to drown in it. I think Bethesda realized that and started cutting back on too much stuff. In F3, I think there was just the right about of content for someone to complete if they really try, and yet leave us waiting for more. I hear a lot of older gamers complain about F3 and TES:IV being too easy or boring - I think that RPGs have come a long way from their origins and Bethesda is catering to a newer type of RPG player. For better for worse, I'm the newer type and I'm perfectly happy with the games.

If I'm not drowning in an RPG's content, it doesn't have enough content. From the moment I first played Runescape (in 2001, before tutorial island existed) and was like "ok...so what do i do now?" and was forced to make my own way in a hostile, expansive world, I have been hooked on that feeling. I love and crave it. RPGs' diversion away from that feeling has been disappointing. They're too linear, with too few things to do and too few paths to take. FO3 didn't even leave me wanting more- I completed roughly 80% of the content, saw the most disappointing and logically confusing ending sequence I have ever seen, and went "welp, this isn't fun". I played 320 of those 350 Morrowind hours without using either DLC. the extra 30-50 hours were spent on only one DLC- i never touched the other one. I crave games like Morrowind, and wish someone could direct me to another one.

neeeeeecroooooooooooo

So I logged into Steam for the first time in a year last night. To play TF2 with a streamer on jtv (www.justin.tv/uleetpopsgats)

He was also playing a game called "Bloody Good Time" which appears to be the sims meets TF2. It uses TF2's engine, and you play as actors who need to eat, sleep and use the bathroom when those meters run low...and kill each other, without getting tazed by the bouncer who doesn't like you having weapons in the house. It sounds silly, but it's a lot of fun, and it's $5 on Steam.

Tranderas is my Steam account name if you folks ever want to play TF2 or some silly Steam game.

Edit: Also, sorry for necroing a >300 post thread, i didn't realize it had over 300 when i hit reply, and no thread#9 has been made...
