So if I do but it, I'll buy it when it's a stable release. Knowing current PC game devs, that would be the 1.8 release.

Wise words. Case in point: Creative Assembly and the Total War series. I have given up entirely: when I bought MTW2, a bug kept me from being able to command battles (the biggest part of the game) for six months. It was actually the most serious bug in the game, and they didn't get around to fixing it for six months! Thousands of us had the same issue. And then, of course, there was the ETW fiasco, but I'd refused to buy it, so HA!

Anyway, yeah. Blizzard is really impressive by those standards but, to be fair, those "standards" hardly justify the use of the word.

To be fair, I don't play many new PC games and I prefer to play the console versions if I can help it because it's more cost effective when you don't care about playing with other people. I'll be flat out honest though - I can't find many good PC game reviews myself.

However, the number of decent written reviews provided by the users of GameFAQs - especially for games typically unpopular in America - really does help. YouTube almost always has the footage that helps makes the decision as well, and within an hour tops, I can usually tell if I want the game or not.

The biggest piece of advice that I can give is to perform due diligence on your decisions, because you shouldn't be buying many games that have you quitting 10 hours later. That might seem counter-intuitive, but only does it work but in the process, you might learn about games that you would have never thought about trying in the first place.

I am debating if I want this for Wii ($50) or PS2 ($20)

If you have it for Wii, do you just turn the Wii-mote sideways and play "classic like" or do you have to use basketabll type motions? Odd question, I know, just kind of curious.

If by "doesn't hate its customers" you mean "takes 36 hours to respond to a bug report/customer service problem, generally gives you the run-around when you finally do contact them, releases unbalanced games and bans for what you do in their games offline" then yeah I see your point with Blizzard.

@Tran: What maps don't you like on Reach? I like the remakes of Ivory Tower and Ascension, although if you have good Snipers on Pinnacle and get control of both towers, then it is basically game over. I detest sword base, but I think the rest of the maps are okay. Small caveat: I only play living dead, team slayer, swat and team snipers, with some invasion mixed in every now and then.
