Is someone that frequents the PfS a tutor? There's a long story regarding how I got caught up in this, but tl;dr I was suggested as a tutor to a 7th grader for math (algebra) and English. I have two questions: 1) It's understood that I would be paid for doing this, but I'm not sure how much to ask for. Any thoughts? 2) What's a good place to go to for resources (lesson plans etc) to use? __________________ <Malroth> saito is the guy who made trand retroactively right about merfolk =( ---- <@BrassMan> I dont care about what you get for yourself, I want you to get things that make my life better ---- <Nephtys> environmentalism is just irl trolling

depends on your qualifications, but really good and specifically trained tutors can charge $30/hour. For 7th grade algebra and English, it's probably $15/hour

I'm just a guy that likes working with people. I have a Bachelor Degree in Marketing with a 3.6 cumulative GPA. I still live with my grandfather, who is a retired engineer, so I can ask for help with any problem in the math (which is the parents' major concern) I have trouble explaining.

Well I feel that Dombek's past actions are going to haunt him. Considering I knew there was 0% chance of getting anything back from him, why not just let people he steals cards and so they can then protect their stuff? No idea what else to do at this point. Wish somebody had stolen his deck edit: Tranderas- I've tutored people in algebra (high school) and college (calculus) and it's always 20ish dollars. I think fifteen is a good starting point.

1) When I did it, I charged $10/hr. That was a few years ago, when the going rate for professional tutoring was $20. 2) In my experience, my lesson plan was heavily guided by what my students were being taught at the time. Since it's summertime... you might have an issue with that. I guess I really can't help you with this one. __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*Facebook*Logout- I had it second!*CKGB

I got a buddy of mine to sort all of my magic cards for $200. Wondering how much I should have paid the guy, I think it's going to take him a long time to do. I have about 100,000 cards that I dropped off, and am asking for them set, color, alphabetical. What's the going rate for sorting? I figure it's going to take like 2 weeks...

I suppose it depends on how big of a buddy he is to you, and whether or not he has something else to do as well. If he doesn't have other stuff to attend to, it's fine I suppose. Well this all came about because he mentioned on facebook that he couldn't find a job, and had been looking. I was like, well I got this job if you're interested. Dude was all over it. Since he was looking through all the cards, and he's a Magic player himself, I told him to set aside things he wanted, and most likely I'd just give them to him. So there's that. There are some valuable things in the lot, but nothing over like $5... although I can't seem to find my 2 Land Tax, so they might be in there, lol.

I suppose that's fine then. With exception of the Taxes __________________ /Thunder in the wind/No rain/Peace mourns its passing/"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

Yeah it's one of those things that I placed in a special place so it wouldn't get lost. I distinctly remember not selling them. So now it's in that place, and I have no idea where it is. Hate when I do that.

Because smoking causes your body to store nicotine in large sacs around your abdomen. Quitting causes your body to slowly excrete them through your urine. That's why ex-smokers often have very yellow urine. Science!

So apparantly you're not one of those ex-smokers who starts eating after quitting? Props! __________________ /Thunder in the wind/No rain/Peace mourns its passing/"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

Would there be any interest in a CD exchange thread on here?A book enchange thread? Sometimes you just want to share the joy with someone else and turn them on to something that they may have never heard of before. I have a library of books (seriously 1000's) and a rediculous ammount of CD's as well. Just curious if anyone would be interested? ...Pretty sure we could swap refs for it too? =)

You are definitely the minority. Most of the time, people who quit smoking gain weight either because they replace the nicotine/smoking habit with food, and smoking does increase metabolism slightly. Nicotine is also an appetite suppressant.

I'd be interested in a book exchange for sure. The ref question depends on whether it's set up as a "my book for your book" type deal or like the card exchange where you get credit for sending a book out then can request a book from a different user. The second seems to make it a bit easier to get what you're looking for as you don't need a direct match with another trader, but makes it a non-reffable transaction. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. How many cards can you sort in an hour, and what does the dealer use for a price guide?

I've always been a fan of italian ice. Something about water and that slight lemon flavor is refreshing, moreso than a water with lemon.

That's happened to my neighborhood recently as well. A security system salesman randomly solicited business from my wife while she was gardening in the front yard. Ironically would feel much more secure without solicitors engaging my neighborhood. I wonder when my HOA will install a gate?
