Joerauch:
if you counter your spell all the cards end up in a graveyard and its a big mana waste.

if you counter his misdirection: your lava axe goes through.

but you can do which ever you want, it's your mana.

why did they rule that firestorm had to be "different targets" just cuz they don't want a card that's basically a first turn "bury target player". so what if the only thing that can stop it is a force of will-- i want an easy first turn kill.

okay, let's say i have a tangle wire out, and im playing against rebel

can he tap the land for the wire, and use the mana to search for rebels, so he ends up using the mana from the wire tap?

also, if i play a wire, then on his turn, can he cast disenchant BEFORE he puts the wire tap on the stack...some guy did this at a tournament, but i thought cuz it says " at the BEGINNING" , then he HAS to put the wire tap on the stack...help me!

got another one: ive heard how you cant respond to a sacrifice, because they don't go on the stack, but then, i've been playing against a blue deck, and i have seal of fire out, so i sac it off to kill his 1/1 little creature, and he sacs off his seal of removal to save it...argh, i thought that you couldn't respond to a sacrifice, because they are too fast..please help me man!

Well... I'm gonna pretend I'm Coolio and awnser my own question. No one else listen because I'm probably wrong.

I can't get the counter to target itself but I can get it to target the Misdirection. The Misdirection resolves, then the counterspell tries to go off, finds no target, and promptly fizzles.

ok, my opponent has no creatures in play, and i have Blastoderm and some other, smaller creatures out, if my opponents trys to Topple, does it fizzle or does it go the next highest power creature?

and, im just checkin, but you can desert twister enchanments right? like cho-manno's blessing?

hey da odd templar. i think i can answer your questions, (since coolio is absent) the first:
yes he can search but then, after searching he must tap anything he has left to the tangle wire, (that being them rebals he just searched for)

yes he can put the tangle on the stack and disenchant.

yes the sac. goes on the stack, its an ability. he can sac removal and the creature disapears and the fire finds no target.

sorry coolio i couldn't resist tyin, we'll see if my answers match yours.

sorry.. trying to work my out schedule and stuff lately.. just got back to school.. I should be fine after this next 1-2 wks.... after I have all classes registered and all my books purchased..

gogettaex: you can misdirect the counter to target the misdirection.. and it'll be countered when it checks for target upon resolution.
here's how it work.. misdirection resolves.. upon resolution, you change the counterspell to another target on the stack. misdirection is on the stack until you place it in the graveyard as final part of resolution... until then.. its legal to be the "new target" for the counterspell.

joerauch: you can counter either spell.. tho countering their misdirection is better than countering your own lava axe.

ushkhan: trample .. sigh.... when a creature has trample.. this means that it can deal excess damage that the blocking creature can receive to the defending player.

reinhart: 1. is rancor a spell while its on morphling? is it an ability? no.. its an enchant creature thats already on it.. unless morphling gets pro green, rancor stays on it until otherwise removed.
2. search for guard, let it go on stack, wrath. wrath resolves, search resolves leaving you with a bear in play.
3. cant happen.. rule 402.6 of the rules specifically says that removing the source of a spell/effect doesnt remove the spell/effect/ability from the stack.
4. yes, they hit the graveyard first then as state based effects cease to exist.
5. sac is part of a cost, as soon as you declare the effect, the costs are paid, by the time they have time to respond with disenchant, the seal is already in the graveyard.
6. as wrath is a sorcery.. there isnt a way around this like question 2 since you cant stack it.

richie: yes.. tis a triggered effect.
2 lands

swoll: he can stack it anyway he wants.. he can stack the fading of blastoderm on the bottom and then the tangle wire tapping.. then the tangle wire fading.. it fades to 2.. he taps the wire and blastoderm to resolve wire.. then fades blastoderm and sacs it.. perfectly legal so long as he stacks it the right way

lic0rice: where did you hear this? pls do tell.. cus I know it doesnt work.

lucutus: yes.. stack the citdel of pain first then the troublesome spirit.. spirit resolves first.. then the citdel of pain.. here's the ruling on citdel of pain.
It counts the untapped lands on resolution. [DeLaney 00/06/20]

fidu: all targets are declared upon casting.. and you can only name a target once in a spell.. that the games rules.. dont like it.. dont play the game.

da-odd-templar: if he's resolving wire, he cant tap for mana at that time.. however if he chooses to tap for mana.. he still needs to tap however many untapped lands, creatures, artifacts for tangle wire.. if he doesnt have enuff.. he taps everything.
2. cant do anything before beginning of upkeep triggers are put on the stack. they happen immediately when you enter the step. noone gets priority before they are put on the stack.
3. sacrifice is a cost.. you cant respond to it true.. however.. you paid the sacrifice as a cost to use an effect that uses the stack. the seal of fire is an ability that goes on the stack like everything else.. its a pseudospell..
sac seal of fire is cost.. doesnt go on stack
deal 2 damage is the effect.. goes on stack as usual.

gogettaex: whatcha need me for?

phyrexian negator: does NOT go to the next highest creature.. he cant cast it.. tho if he tried.. I'd rule it as its countered.. he losses the spell and the mana spent on it.
yes.. as desert twister says perm.

i was playing a friend and this happened:
i have Krovikian Vampire, a Death Pits of Rath , and Mortuary in play. on his turn he plays a thorn elemental. i enchant the vampire with hermetic study, tap the vampire dealing 1 damage to the elemental (killing it via death pits), his turn i gain control of it. he then kills it with radiant's judgment
question: since i have mortuary in play, would the elemental go on top of my library (since i control it) or into his graveyard (since he owns it)...?
{{me and my friend got into a friendly arguement over it, and after we couldn't figure it out... we ruled the game a draw...}}

if i control more than one parallax nexus, will the cards removed by one stay removed until the other leaves play? or do they return once the one that removed them leaves play?

if i control Oath of Scholars and Psychic Vortex, can i draw three cards (via oath) before i pay the vortex's upkeep?

thanks coolio....heres the twisted explanation that (supposedly) will let you have lots have lots of the same legend in play at once...i guess this is what i get for living in bass ackwards, usa. everyone tries to make up their own rules.

some random legend is out.....say, karn. now, my opponent play a vesuvian doppleganger, and chooses karn. now, according to this person, the doppleganger only gains karn's abilities and power/toughness.....so now there are TWO karns. so now he dopples the karn again,a nd clones his doppleganger, etc. kinda makes me wanna hit him, but if i call him on these rules, he throws a fit. and hes like 30 too...ggrrr.

Ok, if I have a Powder Keg with no counters on it, and my opponent has like a Opalessence and some other enchantments out. Now my question is, can I pop the Keg and kill all the animated enchantments, or do I have to wait till I get enough counters for thier casting cost? LMK

Hi Coolio,

If i enchant my creature with Holy Strenght, and few turns later my opponent casts Reverant Mantra, saying white. Now, does the Holy Strenght stay on my creature? LMK

hey coolio, i got a good question for you...

lets say i have a chimeric idol on it, and my opponent attacks, thus i block with my idol.

after attack, my opponent casts parallax dementia on my chimeric idol. Question: does the idol die, when it reverts to artifact, and the dementia falls off, or does the dementia just "fizzle" because is no longer creature?

My friends don't believe me... who's wrong:

I use a spiketail hatchling (something) to try and counter his spell, he cam't snuff, vendetta, seal of doom or anything like that on my hatchling right??

according to what I've heard; the hatchling will be in the graveyard as a part of the activation cost and oviously then he can't respond...

if I'm wrong, why wouldn't mogg (edit: wrote maniac) fanatic be able to do the same way by killing opponent by sacrifising himself as a respons over and over again

lmk

Okay.

This is T1.

I play a Juzam Djinn. My oppenent Force of Will's it. I play a Ancestral Recall in response.

The recall, being on top of the stack, will resolve, and I'll draw three cards. If I get a counterspell, can I then go and counter the force of will?

Thanks in advance

Ok I am a judge in training and I am gonna try to answer a couple of these

Selvaxri : when any permanent goes to the graveyard, it goes to its owners graveyard
and when the nexus that removed cards leaves play the cards come back same with tide, wave, and burst
and does the vortex say at the begining or during up keep?.. If During you can stack the effect to where you could draw then do the vortex up keep

DarkDamion you have to wait till you have enough counters to destroy the converted mana cost of the enchantment/creature, it still retains its original Casting cost

King Masticore: If reverent mantra can target you then yes the holy strength would be destroyed.

Da Odd templar: parallax dementia would fizzle, the chimeric Idol ability would have to resolve in order to throw the dementia off of it thus no longer a creature, thus no longer a viable target

Lucutus: sacrifice is the activation to put the hatchlings ability on the stack and would therefore no loger be a viable target for snuff and the snuff would fizzle, but remember if an ability is on the stack just because the source is removed, doesn't mean the effect is removed, once on the stack the effect happens unless countered

Underworld Dreams : Yes you could counter you may let the stack resolve to a certain point and begin stacking back on to the stack.

there thats all the answers hope I helped

I have Kjeldoran Royal Guard and I am about to play Cho-Manno's Blessing on it. What color would I have to choose for Cho-Manno if the Royal Guard is not to take damage? (lots of green creatures attacked) Would it be protection from white or green? (green because the attacking creatures are green or white because i'm using the Royal Guard's ability.

This might be an easy answer for you but my friends got me wondering...okay here it is:
Let's say I have a Mishra's Workshop out and I wanna play a 2 mana costing artifact and I have 1 mana floating right? Well, can I use that one mana to do an ability of one of my creatures or do I take mana burn unless I cast something?

well what if my opponent casts wrath of gods and i recruit in response? will the steadfast guard be in play when the wrath of gods takes effect?

2. Can I cast Giant Growth on my Llanowar elf at "end of opponent's turn" so during my upkeep, elf is still a 4/4 creature?

3. there is a chance for instants after damage is assigned and before damage is dealt. What if i cast Giant Growth on my attacker? Can the defending player assign damage again?

4. I have a parallax wave and there are 3 creatures that belong to my opponent. I have none. I remove his 3 and have two tokens left. May I remove the last 2 as a fast effect with no legal target? What if he had 5 and i removed all five. Could i "attempt to remove a non-existent counter" and have all 5 come back in?

Ok, here's the layout:

My opponent has a Raging Goblin in play. If I play a Polymorph on it, and he has no more in his deck, is he considered decked???
