in a recent game, my friend temporal apertered for a blaze, and he said he did it for 20. I told him that he can either blaze for zero, or pay the actual cost, but he does not believe me...I need help, and if for some reason I am wrong, then I need to know.

this is something that's been bugging me for awhile and need it cleared up. so if you could, help would be appreciated.

if i have a parallax tide in play with 4 fade counters on it, can i tap all my lands, 2 islands, 2 forests, then remove 4 fade counters to remove all the lands from the game and cast overlaid terrain with the mana i have in my pool and not have to sacrifice any lands because of overlaid terrain?

i think that's clear. anyway, if you can give me a definate answer to what happens i'd be greatful

K,
My friend taps a cradle for LOTS and says he can pump the extra into a River Boa and regenerate it,
According to the 6th rules, Regeneration is a damage replacement effect and, damage replacement effects can be played ahead of time and it waits until used. But I dont quite understand. Does this work?

sorceric_necromancer: yeah this will work.. he can put up regeneration shields..

according to the sixth edition rulebook regeneration causes creatures to tap. My friend uses this to his advantage by using Yavimaya Hollow to tap my creatures. I believe they only tap once they would take the damage. Who is right?

Also the kid who said you cant counter things played by a temporal aperture still says you cant. Now he says your a moron that doesnt even play magic or know what your talking about.
Man i want to wring that kids neck! We need some good judges around here!

Can I draw or paint on my cards, and play them with or without cases if no markings are on the back????

And how much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood? This is a very debated question...

A wood chuck could chuck as much wood as a wood chuck could chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood.

I dont know the other one for sure though. People around here do. I wish I had good judges at my tournies!! (They aren't DCI Sanctioned, but they should be!)

as for the morphling question a while back. If you pump it to a -3/9, which is viewed as a 0/9, can you still pump it to a 8/1? I dont think so but it would help me out a bunch if you could

gogettaex: putting on a regeneration shield and regenerating are different things. the actual act of regenerating (destruction prevention) taps a creature, yes. putting on a regen shield doesnt tap the creature. therefore, your opponent putting on a regen shield with yavimaya hollow doesnt work.

as for the temporal aperature
Color=Artifact
Type=Artifact
Cost=2
US(R1)
Text(US+errata): {5},{Tap}: Shuffle your library and reveal the top card. Until end of turn, as long as that card
remains on top of your library, you may play the card as though it were in your hand without paying its mana cost. If
the spell has X in its mana cost, X is 0. [Oracle 99/07/21]
I dont see anywhere saying the spell is uncounterable.
a few things from D'Angelo's
The card is played just as if it were in your hand. This means you are casting it if it is a spell, and playing a land if it is a
land. And you are subject to any restricted use the spell or land might have. [D'Angelo 99/02/27]
The card is removed from the top of the library when you play it, just like a card is removed from your hand when you
play it. [D'Angelo 99/04/11]

now.. when you play it.. like every other spell.. it goes onto the stack waiting for itself to resolve. therefore it means it can be countered. all it takes is a little common sense. tell him if he is to ever play at a tournament I judge.. and tries to pull this off.. he gets a warning for misrepresentation the first time, second offense is grounds for DQ under cheating. (trying to lie to your opponent about aperature spells being uncounterable would be considered cheating)

thefirestarter: sure you can.. however in or not in sleeves, if requested by a judge to replace the card with that of one that isnt marked on the front, you'd have to.. that's to avoid confusion during a tournament.. so if you're asked to replace it.. you'd have to

swoll: artifacts isnt a color.. neither is colorless or brown.

master of tolaria: no.. most you can pump morphling is 5/1

I have a Sneak Attack in play.
I tap for R and play Gilded Drake. The Gilded Drake is traded for a Mons Goblin Raiders (irrelevant vanilla creature).

Can the Gilded Drake be sacrificed?

ok here is the situation....

1. my opponent casts word of command
2. chooses wheel of fortune
3. i have 2 pshychic purges in my hand

do they take 10 damage?

they would if the controled the effect that forces me to discard my hand....

i think because they forced me to play the wheel w/ the word they control it but he thinks i control the effect because i cast it, forced or not

I was just wondering something about Goblin Festival. Can I respond to using it by using it again and again? And if I can, does everything resolve even if my opponent gains control of it while everything is resolving? Or does everything fizzle?

Ugh ok I hope you understand

See my response to your post Swoll.

For clarification does the trample from a Avatar of Might go over my Pro: Green Mother of Runes?

If I have a Morpling out, attack with it, then pay one blue mana to untap it, is it still able to attack again that turn? Also, if I have an Emperor Croc out, and it gets blocked by a Pouncing Jaguar then gets bolted, is it dead? Also, if I use a spell that brings a creatures toughness to zero, is it dead? Thanks

Littleman,
Spells that reduce a creature's toughness to less than one kill it. Regeneration does not replace this event.

The combinded damage of a Pouncing Jaguar and a Lightning Bolt is enough to kill the Emperor Croc.

Unless a spell lets you, like Relentless Assault, you may only attack once a turn.

Richie, you cant play instants during your Draw Phase. You can do it before your Draw Phase however, and that will work.

juseck: this is from D'Angelo's
You only sacrifice the creature if you still control it at end of turn. [DeLaney 98/10/21]

fatman: this is also from D'Angelo's
The spell which is played is considered as being played by the player targeted by Word of Command and not by the
caster of Word of Command. [Arab FAQ 94/01/05]

you are the caster and controller of the wheel... not them.

kworb: yeah you can keep doing it in response.. and let them resolve individually..
yes the resolve even if your opponent gains control of it
If you activate this multiple times in a row so the stack has more than one of this ability on it, the abilities will
still resolve even if Goblin Festival leaves play or leaves your control before they resolve. For example, if
you use the ability twice, and after the first flip you lose control of it because you lost the toss, or it leaves
play because it is Disenchanted, then you still flip for the second ability. [Urza's Destiny FAQ 99/05/25]
The controller of the ability chooses one of his or her opponents. If this card changes controllers before the
ability resolves, you still pick an opponent of the player who controlled it when it was activated. [DeLaney
99/06/13]

gogettaex: depends.. read up on trample rules.. I've explained this twice at least already..

littleman: unless u have a relentless assult or something that gives you another combat phase: no.
2. yes
3. yes

gogettaex: pls leave the answering to those I've stated that are welcome to answer them.. thanks

richie: yes.. draw step comes, drawing a card goes on the stack, its treated as a at the beginning of your draw step trigger..

gogettaex: sure you can play instants during draw step.. why cant you?
