k coolio i got 2 questions for you:
1) if i have a angelic chorus in play and a castle in play, then i put in a 0/5 wall of glare, would i gain 7 or 5?

2) i thought o a combo i think is an ultimate if it doesn't get countered, use animate land on an opponents land then use eradicate on it and remove all their basic lands from the game except for the ones they hgave in play(besides the one targeted), is this combo llegal?

Hi! I have two questions for you:

If I attack with a Deranged Hermit and 4 of his squirrel tokens (2/2's) and my opponent blocks the hermit with a 3/3, does he/she take 8 damage from the squirrels (from being 2/2 each), or 4 damage (from being 1/1 each)?

How does that happen with the Scryb Sprites and the Sengir Vampire (an earlier post)? I don't understand that.

I hope you can help me. Also, if you don't understand the questions, I can reword them for you. Thanks a lot.

If coolio don't get mad to me, i'd like to answer some questions:

goku701: If you attack with hermit and 4 2/2 tokens, and the hermit gets blocked, tokens still do 8 damage to opponent, because hermit is still in play when damages are assingned. After the damage dealing phase the hermit gets lethal damage and dies.

And the Sengir Vampire question goes like this: Sengir Vampire is 4/4 first striking creature, which gets +1/+1 for each creature it kills. So, 12 1/1 faeries block it. Because of first strike, Sengir Vampire kills 4 1/1 faeries before they can deal damage. Because of this, S. Vampire is now 8/8. Now comes the normal damage dealing phase (first strike creates an additional damage dealing phase), and 8 1/1 faeries deal 8 damage to Sengir Vampire, which is lethal damage and Vampire dies.

Goaswerfraiejen: Counterspell is a spell, so it can be countered just like any other spell.

stomperman: I believe that you get 7 life, because WoG is in play when Angelic Chorus checks its toughness.

And your Animate Land/Eradicate combo is perfectly legal, but it only affects lands with same name as eradicated land.

Again coolio i'm sorry if i'm wrong in some questions, i just wanted to help you out.

Question:

1.) I Trechery a Sergent from my opponent. He responds by Disenchant on the Trechery and states that he is casting it before I can untap my lands (from the Trechery). I was holding a counterspell. Is that legal?

Stomperman: 1) 7 life 2) Yes

Goaswerfraiejen: Yep, no reason you can't.

goku701:
1) All damage is assigned at once so they take the 8 from the tokens at the same time the hermit takes the 3 damage.
2) King Masticore got the vampire/fairy question right and I don't feel like retyping it. ;P

Crossing: Nope

1.) I am playing Cluster Bomb and have a Phyrexian Tower in play. I played another Tower and tapped it for mana before it left play. The opposing player and judge both said I couldn't do it and after a little agrument, they made me not do it. Could I of done it?

2.) I am playing Cluster Bomb again. My opponent plays a wild dogs during their first turn. During my turn, I blaze them for 1 and gain control of the Wild dogs when during their upkeep. After awhile, a fecundity and alboni troll have come into play. I block an attacking albino troll with the wild dogs that I got and it dies. After some argument wuth the opposing player, the judge once again rules in my opponents favor and decided that he draws the card. Does he or do I draw a card or do we both?

So, essentially, I could Counterspell his Counterspells until we run out, then Spell Blast his Spell Blasts until we run out, then Power Sink his last Spell Blast, and he could respond by Power Sinking my Power Sink? Don't worry, I would never be so foolish as to do all that, but the question intrigues me.

Hopefully coolio won't get mad at me...

Richie: The Nether Spirit's ability is a phase ability, so you can only use it once per turn.

Goaswerfraiejen: Yes, but I doubt you would want to waste that many counterspells

But what about Power Sink's cost? You're forgetting that you can pay to fizzle it and...oh, hell! This is getting confusing, Coolio! Help!

(But wouldn't I have to pay for the fizzle before countering with more of the same?)

Goaswerfraiejen: Actually Power Sink isn't that confusing, you just counter his/her power sink with your own power sink, and you don't need to pay any mana for opponent's power sink. Then opponents all mana sources get tapped if he/she don't either pay or counter your power sink.

Greven53:
1)No, you can't have two or more legendary permanents at same time in play. And via 6th edition rules you can't tap it for response.

"K.17.Ruling.1 - Because they are put into the graveyard as a state-based
effect, it is not possible to use any abilities of the permanent before
it is gone. This includes mana abilities. [D'Angelo 99/05/01]"

2) Fecundity reads: "Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard from play, that creature's controller may draw a card." So when Wild Dogs die, you control them at the moment, so you get a card.

coolio's going to kill me

But if I don't pay to fizzle Power Sink, my last Power Sink then fizzles, forcing me to go back in time and work it all out step-by-step. Anyway, I'm just confusing myself even more, so I'll go away and think about it awhile.

do creatures go to a negative power??

here is why i ask....

if i pump a morphling to 0/9 will it be 0/9 or -3/9 because if its 0/9 you could spend more to make it 8/1!!! does that work?

no im not crazy but it'll be somthing to do when you have x-tra mana and its a little x-tra damage....

Sorry coolio...

Fatman: A negative power is considered 0 for all purposes except for raising or lowering it
So, if your Mophling was pumped to a -3/9 and you played a Rancor on it, it would only be a -1/9. But if you attacked with it, it would count as a 0/9

JeremyIQ:I'm not sure about this one, but I think you sacrifice the Lyrist as part of the cost, and it is put onto the stack, followed by the response of playing Crater Hellion, so I think it would be like this:

Hellion comes into play and deals 4 damage to every creature in play, but since the Lyrist has been sacrificed to pay its cost it is no longer in play, so then its effect resolves, destroying the Sneak (Could someone tell me if this is right?)

all right.. for the last time.. pls refrain from answering questions.. this will avoid confusion and wrong answers.. so far.. kevin and now 1 more person is welcome to help with the answering of the questions..

as for corrections and clarification.. I'm still here for that..

mad? no.. I'm happy ppl are willing to help out.. but as I said.. to avoid problems and wrong answers and personal opinions thrown all over.. pls leave the answering to me, kevin and strategest.

lemme go back to page 4 back to when I last replied..

reinhart: yes

yawgmoth's lackey: yes, edict is on the stack, he sacs upon resolution.

reinhart: if the effect is on the stack. rule 402.6 states unless countered.. the effect will resolve when the time comes.. removing the source of the effect doesnt counter it.

same thing, just depends how its played out.. he can always draw in response to the disenchant.. and before the disenchant resolves when he has priority

scrapheap question - well D'angelo's dont have anything specific on this.. so I'll have to say no.

king masticore: u can fork the counter to counter the second bolt yes.. counter is now an instant... u get 2 COLORLESS mana

lunk: yes
2. the clone is another vesuvan, but is what the vesuvan is currently copying.. but will have the ability to shift on upkeep.

goblin_snowman: no, afterlife is countered upon resolution since target is no longer valid.

nukemoose: (no comment) I dont answer opalesence and humility questions

purplepat: it gains the ability. (added on top of its regular tap for 1 <fill in the mana symbol>
2. yes
3. 2 of any 1 color

reinhart: yes.. when u declare target
2. yes.. it has been targetted.. it fugitive dies period.. even if rancor is countered.

jasongerke: I'm looking into that currently.. I'll post the answer when I have it

muder'arunen: yer answer is at your post.

rakin: yes that works.

richie: no.. nether spirit only triggers at beginning of upkeep.. meaning it only triggers as you enter the upkeep step..

stomperman: i replied to your email with answers

goaswerfraiegen: uh... wouldnt know why u cant..

goku701: 8.. damage is on the stack before hermit dies.
vampire question.. I dont care to explain it really.. its rather simple if you know how first strike works.

king masticore: I appreciate the help.. thanks

crossing: yes.. untapping lands is on the stack, he can disenchant it before you get to untap to counter.

greven53: nope.. its no longer legal under 6th edition rules.. it was under 5th..
2. fecundity says controller, since you were the last controller, you get the card.. this holds true for the reason why you can treachery someone's rector.. and when it dies. you can search for the enchantment.. and not the owner.

goaswerfraiegen: yes
and I'm not going to bother discussing this.. I can figure it out.. if I wanted to look at it.. but I dont.. its 1am.. and I just got home from work.. not that I'd want to examine this question at any time anyways..

fatman: no, creatures do not have a negative power.. anything below 0 is viewed as a 0 until you try to alter it..
you can pump morphling to -3/9 but u'll look at it like its a 0/9.. however.. if you giant growth it.. it'll be 0/12

jeremyiq: yes he can activate sneak attack in response.. but the lyrist is already dead.. sac is a part of its ability's cost.

galauski1: yeah.. but you dont get to touch the spell they played.. as its no longer in their hand.. its in the stack zone already.

greven53: eradicate does not pass graveyard.. do no grab enchantment, do not collect $200

as for D'angelo's being down.. its up right now..

Scrapheap question:
Rule 410.10d: In essence, whenever a permanent leaves play, it triggers leaves play effects that it generates itself. You gain life for scrapheap going to the graveyard.

I think I'm going crazy...
What is all this talk about Sengir Vampire being first strike? I went and got mine, and they aren't first strike, but instead flying. So the whole scenario with the scryb sprites is different. Right?

If i counter something that someone is buying back does it go back into there hand or does it go in the graveyard? For instance i counter a lab rats w/ a regular counterspell do they get it back in there hand or does it go to the graveyard?

underworld dreams: I answer this one, because i probably didn't explain that too well. Sengir Vampire was enchanted by some enchant creature that gave it first strike (i don't remember it, something like Reflexes or Lashknife).

coolio: i stop answering now, i promise

can you clarify the wording to: Inflame.
does it deal 2 damage to each creature that has dealt damage (ie: an unblocked creature) or deal 2 damage to each creature that was deal damage? (ie: a blocked creature)
