ILGE: I'll save Coolio some time.. you can't do that because WOTC changed the errata from "fizzled" to "countered", so your card would have no effect. (I think thats right)I have a question though. Under new wordings, all mana sources and interrupts are instants. So this would mean I could quash a dark ritual, right? I had a LvL 1 DCI judge tell me I couldn't, but I was pretty sure I could. __________________ "It's OK. They're just elves." "Alcohol... the cause of, and solution to all of life's problems!"

For the En Kor's from the rath cycle, I heard that it was possible to keep redirecting damage to the En Kor over and over again so it never dies. It this right?

new question. with sylvan library, it says draw 2 then put them back as you want and pay 4 to keep each one. so, does this card basically mean at your draw step, look at the top 3, rearrange them as you choose, and then draw 1 and 4 life for up to 2 more? i think it doesnt since this would reslove before you draw, making looking through the top 2, rearranging as chosen, paying life as chosen, then drawing. everyone looks at the top 3 on apprentice though.

If i have a phyrexian infilrator with festering wound, and i control the wound, can i exchange control of phyrexian infiltrator and another creature, and in response gain control of another target creature so i get the 2nd, and the infiltrator, (i know i can do that but) is it possible to put the wound's thing on the stack strategically so they take the damage?__________________ Offer of the Week: I have 1x Air Elemental 1x Hate Weaver Also have some tigers Only interested in your Rishadan Port

HanSolo6385: No, he has to let you respond to the ability first, then he can sac his fires Not much you can do about it really cept bind.ILG4E999: No, you have to have a target for the spell to cast it. GottaLoveElves: Please don not answer questions. Although you got the answer right, you got the reason wrong. You don't need to save coolio time because he has two helpers Ritual is an instant so it can be quashed. maxbishop: You gain 5 life no matter how much they had. Elfarmino: No. You can redirect from one to the other and back again, but you have to stop some time. Do it for more than two or three times and a judge will probably get you for stalling. The damage has to go somewhere. ILG4E999: The current wording + rulings on the library is: At the beginning of your draw step, you may draw two cards. If you do, choose two cards in your hand drawn this turn. For each of those cards, pay 4 life or put the card on top of your library. [Oracle 00/02/01] *Spells and abilities are resolved one at a time, so if you use multiple Sylvan Libraries in one stack, each will resolve in sequence. You do not get to draw all the cards at once then put them all back at once. [WotC Rules Team 94/09/15] *You may resolve your normal draw before this ability by ordering them on the stack properly at the beginning of your draw step. So you can decide whether or not to draw two cards for this card's ability after seeing your normal draw. [D'Angelo 00/03/03] For the rest of the rulings go [url=http://www.activesw.com/~sdangelo/magic/rule-cards-S.html#Sylvan]here[url]. You have to pay four life four EACH of the two cards you don't put back. People look at the top three on apprentice because it is easier that way and also because that way you know they didn't cheat (if they drew the cards then put it back you couldn't be sure they put back cards drawn that turn). underworld dreams: You can play the cans in your graveyard AS IF THEY WERE IN YOUR HAND. They aren't actually in your hand so you can't discard them. Thrash Golem: You can give them the creature with the wound, but you can not escape taking the damage during your upkeep unless you switch before your turn. You can do anything during your untap step cept untap and you have to put the upkeep on the stack before you can do anything else during your upkeep. Okay, I think I will be going to sleep soon because it is 2:40 and I have to be up at 6:00

1. Are duallands (tundra, underground sea etc) considered as non basic lands? In other words should i worry about wasteland, price of progress etc with a bunch of duals in play.2. Ok Karn, Silver Golem is in play and i play a Mishra's Helix. Can i attack with my helix or any other just played artifact if i activate the ability from Karn to the just played artifacts?

ok, me and my buddy are playing a mirror match with our cadaverous bloom decks. after like 3rd or 4th turn, he pulls off a 32 point drain life on me. as a fas effect, I abeyance him. does the damage still go on the stack? does the spell fizzle, and he take 32 points of mana burn? does he still gain life, or what? I'm confused w/ how the card abeyance works now. please help out. thanks a lot!__________________ DragonSoul "If you are breathing, consider yourself prey" References: GAB (Quartz Team) Commander Langhoff MOTL DragonSoul's MOTL references Have/Want list

Bluedecka: Ummm... I am lost. Is that supposed to be a joke or something, because if so I don't get it? Those cards don't interact with each other at all.Donater: 1) Yup, those are non-basic lands. The only basic lands are swamp, mountain, plains, forest, island, and their sonw-covered versions. They are non-basic lands that have basic land types. 2) G.37.1 - All permanents have "summoning sickness" from the time they enter play (or otherwise come under your control), until they start your turn in play under your control. [CompRules 99/04/23] G.37.2 - Creatures with "summoning sickness" cannot attack, and they cannot use any of their own abilities which have a tap symbol in the activation cost. Non-creatures are unaffected by summoning sickness. [CompRules 99/04/23] G.37.3 - It does not matter if the permanent was a creature at the start of your most recent turn. You just had to control the permanent at that time. [D'Angelo 98/02/03] So if you animate a land or artifact (see Rule K.5) that you controlled at the start of the turn, then it is not subject to the effects of summoning sickness. Also an interesting note on summoning sickness: Note - The term "summoning sickness" has been officially obsoleted, but it is still in common usage since no new term was made to replace it. [D'Angelo 99/05/01] DragonSoul: It only affects player's right to announce things. It does not affect anything which was already announced but has not yet resolved. [D'Angelo 97/06/30] In other words, Abeyance cannot be used to counter a spell or ability. [Duelist Magazine #19, Page 34] You take a lot of damage and he gains the life.

1 or 2?How many lands can you untap during your Upkeep if a player is in control of 2 copies of rising waters? Do they check simultaneously, like Oath of Druids, and if so can they target different lands? It seems like it should work.... People have been telling me that the errata says 2, but I can't find that anywhere at crystalkeep.com. __________________ "Believe in the ideal, not the idol."

kING bUZZO: Each rising waters untaps a land for you. At the beggining of your upkeep both abilities are on the stack. When they go off you chose a land to untap. There is no errata on the card. Now that I think about it, a good way to beat a rising waters deck is to play with your own rising waters too, hehe.

Okay, here's the trouble!Me and my friend are having an arguement...I attack him with a 10/10 green trample creature, and he blocks with a 1/1 pro green. Do I only need to assign one damage to the Pro green creature and 9 damage to him, or do I have to assign all my damage to the pro green creature??? I think I'm right by saying I can deal 9 damage to him! __________________ God said to Noah "There's gonna be a floody floody!"

You need to assign at least lethal damage to each blocking creature, and any amount remaining you can assign to the player, so yes, he takes the 9 damage.

Inzane: A.27.9 - Assigning damage from a Trample creature only considers the actual toughness of the creature, not any abilities or effects that might prevent or redirect damage once it is assigned. [CompRules 99/04/23] For example, if a 2/2 creature with Protection from Green blocked a Force of Nature, you would only need to assign 2 damage to it, even though that damage will be prevented by the ability during damage prevention. [WotC Rules Team 98/10/18] Another way of thinking of this is that you need to assign enough damage that the creature would be lethally damaged if nothing prevented or redirected the damage. Hey again! My question: can you misdirect (with Misdirection) a Counterspell to counter itself??Another one: the situation: I have three elves in play and a Cradle. I play a Llanowar Sentinel and then I tap my Cradle to search for others. The text on the Sentinel says: 'When Llanowar Sentinel comes into play, you may pay 1G to search your library for a Llanowar Sentinel card. Put that card into play. Shuffle your library afterwards.' Does my Cradle make 4 mana when I use it for this ability (is it already counting as 'in play' for the Cradle??)? Or does it tap for GGG? Help plz. __________________ - Don't try to outrun one of Dominia's Grizzlies; it'll catch you, knock you down, and eat you. Of course, you could run up a tree. One new question again...My friend has a verdant force with one saproling token already. I have a defense of the heart. He ends his turn, and then I go to my upkeep. He currently has 2 creatures, but he needs to put a saproling into play during my upkeep. Could I technically sacrifice the defense of the heart after the token comes into play, or do I not have the chance to sac it until next turn.

Lots of things that have been bugging me!If I use Alexi to target 8 creatures, does the ability fizzle if one of those targets leaves play in response? Can I tap basalt monolith for 3 mana, then untap it for the 3 mana indefinetely? Kinda Pointless, but fun. Conspiracy can affect creatures in the library, demonic tutor can target a card in the library, so my question is: does pack hunt have to target a creature type thats in play? or can it be in the library, or even in the graveyard for that matter? Can you misdirect a demonic tutor before or after the target card is chosen? can you deflect the target of a clone? If not, can you clone creatures with protection from blue? Can you cast anarchy, then sleight of mind the color of destruction to blue to destroy all blue permanents? If I use Volrath's Laboratory to create 2/2 Black Legend tokens, can i only have one in play at a time? Could wall tokens not attack? Does Dual Nature trigger when you use hell's caretaker? If you bolt a spiny starfish, can you regenerate it 8 times to create 8 starfish? if not, how about if you put a serrated arrow counter on it? Is there a difference between losing life, and damage? If so, can conservator really prevent only the loss of 2 life, not 2 damage? Can you magical hack the name of a basic land, to make an island that produces white mana? Would this allow Sea serpent to attack? If thieves action is played, do all creature enchantments snuff it? or can they be re-cast? or does only the controller of them change, not the target? If I cast Sonic burst and it is countered, do I still lose a card at random? Can you dump all your mana into "regeneration shields" to stop from taking damage from cards like power surge? If there are 2 citadel's of pain in play, is it more worth while to take mana burn, then to keep lands untapped? If you use rishadan port to lock down a city of brass, do they take 1 damage everytime you tap it? Dumb stuff: With Volrath's Laboratory, can you create 2/2 Purple People Eater tokens? If an albino troll is controll magic-ed does the new controller have to pay its echo? Can you use rishadan pawnshop to shuffle a card you own and control into your library when you no longer have any cards in your library? Thus allowing you to live another turn? Thats all I can think of right now, but We find new stupid questions all the time!

The Magic Dude: No, a spell can not target itself. However, a counterspell can be misdirectioned to the misdirection. The creature is already in play so you get the four mana. Inzane: All abilities trigger at the beggining of the upkeep. The verdant automatically triggers and the defence checks to see if it triggers, but it fails because there are only two creatures in play. You can not do anything at the beggining of the upkepp before seeing if the heart trigger. Next turn it is. asphinx: My Lord that is a lot of questions. I guess I will answer them since you are serious about these. Alexi's ability only fizzels if all targets are removed. The basalt monolith has been errataed so that you can only untap it once at the beggining of your upkeep. Conspiracy affects the creatures in the deck but doesn't target them. Demonic tutor doesn't target the card in the deck (you just choose one). As far as I know there are no cards which target cards in your deck. You have to target a creature in play for pack hunt (and all other cards unless they say target creature in your graveyard or something to that effect). Demonic tutor doesn't have a target so you can not target it with misdirection in the first place. The target for misdirection must have one, and only one, target. Clones target can be misdirected because it targets. The current wording on clone is: Text(RV+errata): */*. ; ~this~ comes into play as a copy of target creature. [Oracle 99/09/03] The clone can not target a pro blue creature as it is a spell targeting it which is not allowed under the protection rules. The anarcy can be sleighted... what else would you do with sleight? Yup, wall tokens could not attack and there could only be one legend token in play because of this rule: The token has the same name as the creature type. [bethmo 98/02/27] Yeah, the nature triggers so you get the creature and a copy. THen sac the copy so the origonal doesn't die and you get lotsa creatures You only get a token when the starfish does regenerate and it only regenerated when it recieves lethal damage. THe bolt only damages it once so it only makes one token. Creatures can not regenerate from having zero toughness anymore. G.21.2 - Loss of life cannot be prevented or replaced by a spell or ability which prevents or replaces damage. [CompRules 99/04/23] Some older cards say this as reminder text, but it is true even if they do not. You can only prevent damage. Magical Hack only changes the game text of a card. This does not include the name of a card. Answer to thieves auction question: If you choose a local enchantment, you can put it on any permanent it can legally enchant. If there is nothing it can legally enchant, it remains removed from the game... and it can still be chosen by you or another player later in the auction. If there comes a point where only local enchantments with no legal permanent are left, they stay removed from the game permanently. [MM FAQ 99/09/22] ou have to discard the card in addition to paying the mana cost. You do this before any thing else (cept declaringthe target) so the card is gone. Yup, regeneration shields rock. That is why I love river boa, hehe. Mana burn over citadel pain is preferable. Of course you can always wait to see if your opponent is smart enough to take the burn or the citadel damage. If they don't do the burn then you may want to take the citadel pain rather then remind them of the being able to burn instead. City does one damage to the controler no matter how it is tapped. With volrath's Lab you could only create purple-people-eater tokens. The name chosen can only be one word. Echo is paid whenever the creature comes under that players control,, this means they have to pay echo with control magic. Of course you can. You only lose if you can't draw, not if you have no cards in your library. That is all you could think of? Gee... tey harder. LOL (No wait, don't. That was too many quesions ) Imagenyuss: Zero damage isn't damage. I am tired. Asphinx asked a lot of questions.
