StriderHry: G.29.3 - Regeneration is defined as "The next time this permanent would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage from it, tap it, and (if it's in combat) remove it from combat." [CompRules 99/11/01] So if you regenerated your Masticore and in response he bolted it, the bolt would go off, the masticore would have 3 damage on it plus whatever else it had before, and the regeneration would kick in, remove all damage, and keep it in play. Imagenyuss:
if i have wall of glare and two 3/3 tramplers are coming my way and i block both of them would i take 1 point of trample damage? Since the wall of glare has yet to have any damage on it, each 3/3 trampler would have to assign all 3 damage to it, as much as possible to kill the creature. Since all damage is assigned at once. The wall of glare would take 6, and you would take 0. can i make someone discard a card from his or her hand in responce to them playing a spell so that they would have to discard that card from their hand (like if that was the only card or i could choose) No. T.4.8 - The spell card is not in your hand after you start announcing it. [D'Angelo 99/05/01] Mkl: I feel stupid asking this question but, if I play a Balduvian Horde with no cards in my hand would it die? If you can't discard, it dies. Thrash Golem: It is my opinion that mana maze see's itself as the last spell played this turn, so no. But not positive. Reinhart: He seals, in response you ping. The ping resolves and the sergeant takes 1 damage. Charisma effect triggers and goes on the stack. Priority is given, state based effects are checked, sergeant goes poof. __________________ -Guenhwyvar Member of G.A.B Blue Team and Judge in training.

during my turn, i play a samite archer. On my opponent's turn after mine, he attacks with 2 2/2 creatures. i let them both through, but i declare that i use the archer's ability to prevent one damage to me. My opponent says it has summoning sickness. who is right? my opponent plays a blastoderm, and he declares in response to play a cho manno's blessing on it. He said that the blastoderm's untargetability is waived until it resolves from the stack, therefore it can be targeted. Is this true?
are collective restraint's ability cumulative?
pure reflection's ability allows it to destroy all creatures with creature type reflection right? if i have a volcanic island, and a mountainin play, and my opponent casts global ruin, do i have to sacrifice my volcanic island if i choose to keep my moutnain in play? If i tap one of my opponent's lands with a rishadan port, do they suffer damage from manabarbs? can i activate infinite hourglass's ability to remove a counter during my opponent's upkeep. can i use despotic scepter to destroy a permanent that i own, but my opponent controls?

the archer does have summoning sickness.. summoning sickness is defined as the creature has yet to start a turn on your side.he cant target a spell on the stack with cho-manno's blessing.. blessing only targets a creature.. blastoderm isnt a creature until it hits play yes they are cumulatve yes pure reflection destroys all reflections yep... if you keep volcanic.. you have to sac the mountain nope as they did not tap the land for mana yes.. its played as an instant.. and any player may do it yes... since all it requires is that you own the perm © __________________ References DCI Certified Level I Judge (Awaiting Lvl 2 test results) Deck Help & Construction Empire Conventions Tournament Organizer of Western New York (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse)

Okay, a few "simple" questions my friends and I have been arguing over. I have to set it straight. 1) I have a Saber Ants and Thrashing Wumpus in play. I wumpus for 3. Now, is the damage deal like this: 1st damage resolves, making 1/1 ant. Second damage resolves making 1/1 killing first 1/1 ant. Third damage resolves, killing 2nd 1/1 ant and making 3rd 1/1 ant. Wumpus and Saber ants die, and I'm left with 1 1/1 ant. or like this: all damage resolves at same time, and I am left with a dead wumpus and saber ants and 3 1/1's. Or, can I decide whether or not I want to stack the damage, and end up with either, depending on what I want, and if I can, can my opponent also decide to stack it? second question: I have fires of yavimaya in play. I play a saproling burst. They're at 14 life, so I can only do 12 damage to them with the burst (3 4/4 tokens). I remove the 3 and attack. Then, I sack the fires to give one token +2/+2 so I do 14 total damage. My question, is if I've sacked the fires, do my tokens still have haste? So can I still attack with them? third question (just for clarification because my brother won't believe me ) I have a seal of cleansing in play. I sack it to kill his sterling grove. He disenchants the seal (). So, is the seals ability countered or not? In response to him disenchanting, I CANNOT declare to sac the seal again, right? I know that may sound elementary (for it is), but my brother won't believe me. Thanks in advance __________________ bingomck_usa@hotmail.com

I do hope that that comment was not in any way directed towards me, or the previous post I made. So, if you don't have anything good to post, don't post anything at all.

Underworld dreams: 1) Your first scenario. You're left with one 1/1 ant per the reasons you described. Each activation is seperate, and cant' be done as "3" damage. Has to be 1,1,1. 2) You're good to go. C.3.Ruling.5 - You only check if the creature is allowed to attack (such as can only attack if opponent has Islands) during this step. If any attack enablers are removed or attack inhibitors are introduced later, it does not make a difference. The creature is still attacking. [CompRules 99/04/23] 3) The sacrifice of the seal of cleansing is the cost of the activation, which is paid at the time of declaration. There is no seal for him to disenchant, in other words. Thrash Golem: It goes to the graveyard, of course. But only after it crashes through the Tolarian Academy while fleeing in fear. It's heart racing, blood pumping, it seeks to flee it's phantasmal foes, trips over a kobold, and comes crashing down on ashnod's altar. Sucks to be him. __________________ -Guenhwyvar Member of G.A.B Blue Team and Judge in training.

guenhwyvar, thanks a lot. Now I'll have proof when people say I'm wrong. And to thrash golem. Please stop answering the questions on this post. It's coolio's post, and he asks that only those that he wants to answer the questions do. And as guenhwyvar already proved, you're wrong about how the ants die. __________________ bingomck_usa@hotmail.com

Say i have a greel out in play, I pay the cost, discard two cards, and then as soon as I discard they lightning bolt it, does the ability still go off, and if it doesn't, do I get to keep the cards and the mana?Another, with moonlit wake,(you gain 1 life whenever a creature is put into a graveyard from play) if you have 3 out and a creature is put into a graveyard from play do you gain 3 life? one more, if I have a Phyrexian Infiltrator out, and I exchange control of it for one of my own creatures, then in response i exchange it for one of my opponents creatures, do i get back my Phy. Inf. back with my opponents creature and loose the creature i first exchaged with?

alright, I'm quite sure this is going to annoy those present who already know the answer, as quite probably they have already had to tell countless people how this whole thing works, but here goes: Invasion is chock-full of cards counting the number of basic lands. Alpha/Beta/Unlim multilands "count as both blah and blah"; do they count as _basic_ blahs and blahs? i.e. can a tropical island, a badlands and a plains gain you ten life for a wandering stream?thankee fer yer time

How many times can you regenerate a creature a turn? Someone (a lvl 1 judge) on ICQ told me this: regenerate means basically "tap, and keep in play" - it's an activated ability that can happen only once per turnBut someone tells me otherwise...so who's right? __________________ Remember, the World is Square :) ragemonkey@crystal-tokyo.com

Ragemonkey: regeneration can be played as many times as you want just like any other ability...unless it states it can only be played a number of times like the pump up abilities for creatures like Phyrexian Battleflies which says "B: Phyrexian Battleflies gets +1/+0 until end of turn. This ability may be played no more than twice each turn."just my 2 cents.

Jsheldon: 1) Greel creates an effect that goes on the stack. Removing Greel doesn't remove the effect. Same goes for all other cards. 2) Each moonlit wake triggers so you get 3 life. 3) Yes, you target your creature and in response target your oppenents, then when the stack resolves you end up w/the infiltrator and your opponent's creature. Razor2sharp: It all depends on how he assigns the damage. Get back to me on what exactly you're looking for. Ubergott: Basic land types are forest, mountain, plains, island, and swamp. Tundra counts as both plains and island and is therefore 2 of the basic land types. You know better than that Brant, you could have just asked me in person. ;P Ragemonkey: You can put as many regeneration shields on a creature as you want. Each destruction of the creature triggers one of the regeneration shields. G.29.3 - Regeneration is defined as "The next time this permanent would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage from it, tap it, and (if it's in combat) remove it from combat." [CompRules 99/11/01] Note that adding a regeneration shields doesn't tap the creature and remove it from combat. Only the activation of the shield does that. __________________ -Guenhwyvar Member of G.A.B Blue Team and Judge in training.

He says the kird ape lives cuz playing lands doesnt go on the stack.. i know that, but im also pretty sure the turd ape dies. Answer! __________________ Expletive Deleted ICQ - 22402526

this is a question about empyrial armor. is the number of cards in the hand checked constantly? most of the people i play with dub themselves "magic experts" and as such feel that they can just make rulings on cards whenever they want, and while i recognize house rules, i feel that they were less than truthful with me last night. from what they believe empyrial armor was errated so that only at the time of casting was empyrial armors +x/+x bonus checked, and that it remained static for the rest of the time it was in play. d'angelo's says the opposite, and i would rather go with that (more official) than by what my "local experts" say. __________________ "Battle doesn't need a purpose, the battle is its own purpose. Thrash Golem: Playing land doesn't go on the stack and can't be responded to. Therefore, by the time you can sacrifice the seal, the ape is 2/3. Maxbishop: Empyrial Armor checks every time state-based-effects are checked. So any time that priority is given, the empyrial armor checks the number of cards in it's controller's hand.

Me: has a questionWhat happens if i try to dominate an activated chimeric idol, how much do i have to pay? Is it 1UU cuz idol as a creature has no casting cost, or 4UU cuz idol cost 3 to cast as a permanent? My friend: doesnt believe me he says you can't prohibit a ghitu fire for 6 or a kickered llanowar elite. prohibit says converted mana cost though, and converted mana cost of kicker llanowar elite is G so you could.. __________________ Expletive Deleted ICQ - 22402526

alright, we were brought this question up during a local tourney where me and a friend judged. the problem is, there's more than 1 stack. 1. You sac'd your seal to kill another seal, therefore your opponent targeted your seal with a disenchant. ok, you targeted the seal, he targeted your seal, both effects resolve, therefore by him wasting the mana to cast the disenchant. there's 2 stacks, one on your seal, one on his. both resolve. 2. Now, this one depends on which creature you gave pro-red. if you gave the mom pro-red, then yes the creature dies. if you gave say.. a llanowar elf pro-red, then no the elf doesn't die, but the mom would, since there's yet again, 2 stacks, one on the elf, and one on the mom. i hope this cleared up some stack effect confusion amongst people. __________________ The key did not work on a single lock, yet it opened many doors. Ragemonkey The Regeneration rule is, if the creature is dealt Leathal damage (damage equal to or over its toughness) and you regenerate it, then it gets "tapped and stays in play" but if you need to waste the mana for a citadel of pain, you can regenerate, say, your masticore all you want..__________________ The key did not work on a single lock, yet it opened many doors. Let's say I Dominate an opponent's Steadfast Guard after he casts Unsummon on it. Or let's say I pinged teh rebel with my Charisma enhanced Stinging Barrier. Does it come under my control and then bounce back to his hand? Or does it just straight to his hand or what? Can I cast Dominate on a Treetop Village as it becomes a creature? What if I Dominate or steal a creature (like Treetop Village) with a Charisma/Stinging Barrier combo and the card stops being a creature later in the game? Does it go back under opponent's control? Let's say I cast a Stinging Barrier and my opponent casts Counterspell on it. Then I Foil his Counterspell. Then he casts Thwart against my Foil. Can I cast Misdirection on his his Thwart and redirect it to his Counterspell to save my Stinging Barrier?
