Here's a question I got from someone.. I don't know the answer. Please help, thanks.

Ingo has a Gray Ogre (Ogre 2/2), enchanted with his Spirit Link. Laurie has a Worship in play (and a creature), and has only a single life left. Ingo attacks with the Ogre, and Laurie doesn't block. Will Ingo gain life from the Spirit Link?

Goblin_Snowman: No. Spite and Malice, along with the rest of the cards, are modal in nature. When the spell is announced you declare which part of the card you are casting and that is used for all things. So therefore the card is black, has a casting cost of 3B, and is an instant while it resolves.

Underworld Dreams: The damage from the grey ogre is not prevented or replaced, so the spirit link triggers and Ingo gains 2 life. Lori takes 2 damage and goes from 1 life to 1 life, as she can't go below that.

yonyb: The vile consumption only triggers once for each creature, so no.

squee44: Nope. It is returned to its owner's hand at the end of turn only if it is in play. [D'Angelo 99/03/24]

Imagenyuss:
1) Guardian Beast as a Black Artifact Creature. Yes, you can attack with it and not tap because it is an artifact creature. The artifact creature can die since guardian beast only protects non-creature artifacts. If the artifact that can become a creature, such as chimeric idol, is not a creature when someone attempts to destroy it it will be fine, otherwise it's toast. Shatterstorm would only kill the Guardian Beast and other artifact creatures. Everything would be destroyed at once, and the Guardian Beast's ability kicks in and ignores the destruction of non-creature artifacts, then the guardian beast dies. Guardian Beast doesn't prevent removal from the game, so everything leaves play via Apocalypse.
2) Norritt - The creature dies at the end of the turn, so the player could not attack with his creature on the first attack, then attack with it on the secondary attack of relentless assault and it would be fine. The ability may only be used on a creature on its controller's turn at a time when it would be legal for that player to declare an attack later in the turn. [Aahz 95/04/11]

Hope that answers all your questions.

Varchild's War- Riders.
Who owns the Survivor Tokens?
Who sacs permanents to Tainted Aether when the Survivors come into play?

I know there was a ruling on this, but can't hit D'Angelo's site for some reason.
Last I heard, the controller of the War- Riders owned the tokens, but they came into play under the control of the opponent. Is this still correct? (I'm thinking of Brand and/or Tainted Aether)

What do you mean lightning bolt and lifeline??? Life line is for creatres.

Orinn:
Varchild's War-Riders
Color=Red Type=Creature - War-Rider Cost=1R AL(R2)
Text(AL+errata): 3/4, Trample, Rampage 1. ; Cumulative Upkeep - Put a 1/1 red Survivor creature token into play under an opponent's control. [Oracle 99/11/01]

The token creatures are controlled by your opponent, but they are owned by you. This means you can use a Despotic Scepter on them. [bethmo 97/01/09]

G.26.2 - The owner of a token creature (see Rule K.24) is the controller of the spell or ability that put the token into play. [CompRules 99/04/23]

Tainted AEther
Color=Black Type=Enchantment Cost=2BB US(R1)
Text(US): Whenever a creature comes into play, its controller sacrifices a creature or land.

Tainted AEther says the controller sacs the permanent not the owner so you are in the clear. War-rinders and AEther would be ugly with multiple AEthers, hehe.

Does Cursed Totem stop elves from tapping for mana?

Does Null Rod stop artifacts from tapping for mana?

I've always thought they did but recently some people told me that they changed something so that things could still tap for mana. I hope they aren't right, cursed totem kicks butt!

Do the original dual lands (ie tundra, taiga, etc) count as basic lands? Could I untamed wilds for a taiga? Or return one to my hand with a groundskeeper from my graveyard?

EDIT: Had written "library" instead of "graveyard"

lifeline-
Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard and a creature is in play, return that creature from your graveyard to play at end of turn.

So does this only work for your creatures?

Imagenyuss: I did answer your Norritt and Guardian Beast questions, they're on page 3 of this ruling post.

m24Nirvana: Nope, the creature card you get via bribery isn't in play and therefore is unaffected by Cowardice.

GogettaEX: Yep, no mana from elves. Null Rod does affect mana source abilities of artifacts. [D'Angelo 99/07/10]

Razor2sharp: I don't believe so. But not positive, one of those things I can never seem to remember. ;P

Imagenyuss: Lifeline: Info: Color=Artifact Type=Artifact Cost=5 US(R1) Text(US+errata): Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard and another creature is in play, return the first creature from that graveyard to play under its owner's control at end of turn. [Oracle 99/07/21] It works for all players and has errata to remove the "your graveyard" text. [bethmo 98/10/02]

Reinhart: Nope, at the time the cards are chosen, the spell is in the middle of resolution during which you can't do anything as priority isn't given between the choosing of the cards and the discarding thereof.

question: if i have dual nature in play, and i play a thicket elemental ( 3GG, kicker 1G; 4/4 if paid kicker pull an oaths of druid) and it's kicker; do i go 'druiding' for two creatures?
if i play a kicker creature with dual nature in play, do both creatures got the kicker advantage?
these questions are bugging me.

oh thanks i didn't see that there.

I was wondering can blastoderm be counterspelled?

does lifeline only work for your creatures as it says "YOUR GRAVEYARD".

if i enchant a first striker with venemous fangs will any creature without first strike die before it can deal damage to my first striker

If I have a wall of vapor and i block a 7/7 w/o trample and someone else has a repocution out would i still take 7 before the damage was reduced to 0? (I don't think I would take 7)

okay here is my question:
I need to know what happens to a token creature when is gets killed... does it go to the graveyard? does it get removed from the game? or what? if it does go to the graveyard can spells resummon it such as exhume or can spells like repoulate put them into your library? even if you could how would you do it and what would the mana cost be?

this maybe a dumb question I dunno

hey coolio,
a few (simple) questions...

1) does purging scythe target the creature? I don't know... if it would, I would think that it would say target.. the 6th rules were already in affect then, right? So it would... lmk

2) with reflecting pool, you can't add colorless if you have no other lands, right?

3) i have opalescence and am attacking with a seal of cleansing.. after blockers are declared for the seal, could I terror the creature blocking my seal and let the seal go through? or because blockers are declared that no damage is dealt...

4) I have a seal of cleansing and an opalescnece. I'm blocking an attacking masticore and survival of the fittest (creature because of opalescence). could I declare blocking the survival, and before combat damage is deal, sac the seal to the core to kill it? Would no damage go through with the survival that way? I guess it's like the last question.. if it is, just lmk.

Thanks

Selvaxri: No, you only get the one kicker effect. It has to do with this:
- If a permanent with a kicker cost is put directly into play, you don't get the chance to pay the kicker.
which was on the invasions FAQ that I posted a while back (and apearently no one read )
The dual nature simply puts a duplicate of the card directly into play so no chance for kicker.

Imagenyuss:
1) Yes, blastoderm can be countered. His ability only works while he is in play.

2)Apearenly you are blind. Please look at guenhwyvar's post with date/time October 17, 2000 10:47 PM. It has the errataed wording of life line there. You do not go by what is printed on the card, you go by the errata.

3) The first strike will deal damage first killing anything it deals damage to as long as thier creatures don't have first strike also. Of course if your creature is small enough they can just block with a lot of creatures to kill it (you only get to kill creatures equal to the damage ou can do).

4) All damage deal o the wall is prevented hence no damage is dealt and Repercussion does not trigger.

datfat_1:
K.25.6 - Token creatures cease to exist entirely if they ever leave play (to the hand, graveyard, removed from game, phased out, or wherever). Before ceasing to exist, the token will trigger any zone changing abilities that apply. [CompRules 99/04/23] It is removed as a state-based effect (see Rule T.11), so it is not possible to target the token with a spell or ability before it is gone.

K.25.Ruling.1 - Before ceasing to exist (as per Rule K.25.6), token creatures do briefly go where they are sent, which can trigger effects.
For example, Soul Net can be used on a token creature going to the graveyard. See Rule K.25.6. [CompRules 99/04/23]

underworld dreams:
1) Purging Scythe
Color=Artifact Type=Artifact Cost=5 US(R1)
Text(US+errata): At the beginning of your upkeep, ~this~ deals 2 damage to the creature with the least toughness. If two or more creatures are tied for the least toughness, you choose one. [Oracle 99/07/21]

Does not target the creature it damages. [DeLaney 98/10/05]

2) If none of your lands can produce mana, or if all of your lands are Reflecting Pools, then they cannot be tapped for any kind of mana. [Duelist Magazine #23, Page 23] This is a specific rule for this card that does not apply to how any other card should be treated. [bethmo 98/11/24]

3) Once the creature is declared blocked it will not deal damage to your opponent even if the blocker is removed... unless it has trample, then it will deal the damage to the opponent. In that situation no damage would be dealt.

4) Yeah, it is the same as #3 sort of. Since the survival was blocked already it would not deal damage and the masticore would be dead (or have regenerated) so it too would not deal damage.

Rulings for specific cards
If you have any questions look for it under one of those links before asking... you would be amazed how easy the answer is to find.

I attack with a 5/5 bird token and my opponent blocks with a 6/5 stormwatch eagle (coat of arms in play). Can he return the stormwatch eagle to his hand so that it lives while my token receives damage and dies?

Dragonlady: Yes. After combat damage is put on the stack your opponent can return the stormwatch eagle.

this is a tough one to get out:
Okay the artifact creature Metallic Sliver says in the card text that it counts as a sliver. A person that I play with says that because it is a sliver that it gets +1/+1. and to try to prove me wrong he showed me the muscle sliver and a few more that had on it all slivers get +1/+1 and he did not even have the muscle sliver in his deck, hand or in play. He said that it was an abilty that slivers have because it was a sliver And I showed him the heart sliver that says all sliver are unaffected by summoning sickness i said so all slivers get +1/+1 gain summoning sickness, trample(horned sliver), , flying, first strike and all other sliver bonuses because they say it on one card?? that would be stupid!! please help me out and prove him wrong.
