I have to ask this question. What happens if your opponent is a real sneak, and you catch them cheating, but the judge comes over and starts talking to them like they know them, and says that everything is okay and continues on his way. Whats the penalty for beating the holy tar out of the 2 of them? I mean from a sanctioned tournament point of view? Question may sound weird, but I am curious.__________________ Clear Cascades. Okay I need to know something about Eureka I have the chance to get 3 so I need to know this first I am thinking of making a deck using 4 Eureka and many different Tutors. The tutors are to search for the Eurekas. And I have duals and city of brass as my land so that I can play whatever tutor I get. Then the rest of the deck is made with huge creatures like 7/7 etc So what I need to know is if I get four lands out and play the Eureka do I get to put the first creature, enchantment or atifact out? Then the second thing I need to know is if my opponent decides not to play(or can't play) any more creatures, land, enchantment, artifact do I get to continue playing them from my hand with the Eureka? Your help would be greatly appreciated thanks very much If I can continue to play them I will be so happy but I am thinking that would be to good to be true.

Sorry for the delay, but I haven't had internet access in a while.BEEFED: I will see what I can find. Actually I will ask coolio, hehe. Alkiser: Is everybody and his mother playing this deck? If the top card in your graveyard is a creature, it comes into play as a copy of that card and will trigger any of its own (or others) comes into play abilities as appropriate. [D'Angelo 99/06/01] Any "comes into play with", "as ~this~ comes into play" or "before ~this~ comes into play effects will not happen, since those take place before the copying effect. [bethmo 99/07/27] Text(MI+errata): 12/12, Trample. ; If ~this~ would come into play, sacrifice any number of creatures with total power 12 or greater instead. If you do, put ~this~ into play. If you don't, put it into its owner's graveyard. [Oracle 00/02/01] You don't have to sac the creatures. Jochen Cobussen: Interesting. That is not the intention of the wording of the card, but it could be taken that way. It is only meant to be played where they don't untap for one turn. Jochen Cobussen: The players don't put mana into it, they put an ability on the stack. All of the abilities that were activated will resolve. Imagenyuss: T.10.8 - Each replacement effect gets only one opportunity to apply to each event. For example, a player controls two copies of a permanent with the ability "instead of dealing their normal damage, creatures you control deal double that damage." A creature that normally deals 1 damage will deal 4 damage, not just 2, and not an infinite amount. [CompRules 99/04/23] For another example, if a creature has both Pariah and Treacherous Link on it, then there is no loop. The damage always ends up where it would have been if neither had been there. [D'Angelo 00/01/02] totalgeno: You do not take the extra turn imediatly. You take it after your current turn. Playing a final fortune in response to a spell will do nothing to keep you alive. You final fortune will resolve, then the shock/ stroke will resolve killing you. If you flame rift and it kills you both, then it is a tie game. In a tournament you play best out of three games so that would count as one of the three games. "Best out of three" mean that who ever wins the most games means they win the match. A 1-0-2 for you would mean a victory. Firestorm_Hellkite: If the wall loses its ability when it leaves play then the creatures do not return to play. Imagenyuss: Sure. This question has been asked many times and the answer has been "duals count as two basic land types and multi-colored creaures count as multipe creature types". Drengar: Taping a creature will not stop the effect from happening. When woe's ability is declared, it is put on the stack and the woe is tapped as part of the activation cost. If our opponent responds by tapping the woe, they tap an already tapped woe and that does not stop the ability. They must use bind or interdict to counter the ability. Sorry, don't do e-mails. washburn1983: The creature will die before it deals damage if it doesn't hae first strike. Yup, it will kill the derm. Thrash Golem: The creature does get the +1/+1 counters. The effects are applied so that the creatures characteristics and counters go first. Then external effects go second so the creature is a 1/1 and has no abilities. The creature is a 1/1 w/ no abilities so it has no penalty to attack or block. Solquest: That is a violation of the floor rules and you will be removed from the tournament. coreycorey2000: You get to put the first one into play and it continues in turn order. When a person skips putting a permanent into play, then they do not get to put any more into play. The eureka ends when every one declines to put a permanent into play. You get to drop your whole hand

CaquaaThanks for looking into it. But I found a ruling on it in one of the judges of Denvers, Computer bank. So now the judges in Denver know the rules on this card. Thay all were ruling that Desertion would gain the control. But I do wonder if it's still a problem in a lot of area's? And If you can find a site on the net that a player with judging problems on this card could refer a judge to? Again thanks for looking into it for me. BEEFED

if i tapped the slimy kavu, made one of my opponents land a swamp, put a spreading algea on it, would the end of the turn destroy the algea, or would it stay on the land because i played the algea while the land was a swamp__________________ ~The~ Fallen Angel I never metamorphisis I didn't like.

BEEFED: Since I kept getting interupted by AIM when I went to e-mail, I kept forgetting. What is the ruling that the judges are using for Kavu Chamelion / Deseration? Also could you post a link to the site that you found the info at? It would be nice to look over card rulings... I like to do that for fun... I am wierd.fallenangel1021: The "~this~ may enchant only a swamp" is a targeting restriction (see Rule K.12.6).Since it is a targeting restriction, it only checks when you cast the algae. I think the is a "neat" combo. Maybe good for a fun LD deck... Thrash Golem: This is a very odd rule, but apearently the counters from dragon's blood would do nothing while humility is in play. Here is the ruling that would make me think that: K.10.Ruling.1 - Because of Rule K.10.2, the current power/toughness of a creature is calculated like this: a) start with the initial value, b) apply any plusses and minuses from counters, c) apply plusses and minuses from other effects in the order in which those effects entered play (unless the ordering rules for continuous effect change this ordering). [CompRules 99/04/23] K.10.2 - Counters on a creature are applied before applying any external effects. [CompRules 99/04/23] Humility is a very stupid card. I belive that humility should have the same ruling that Shahrazad has: No, this card is more annoying than you imagine :-( Ruling straight from crystalkeep, lol.

I'm not a newbie or anything but for some reason I cannot conjur up the answer to the following question anywhere in my brain. This is a dumb question but i'll ask it anyway. Can I use a misdirect on a counterspell and then target the counterspel to make the counterspell counterspell itself? It's a kind of confusing predicament but a ruling on this would be great. Thanks for everyone's time! __________________ They take your pleasure and replace it with pain. -Kyle Foust

adamisthebest: You cannot make a spell which is on the stack target itself. Thus, you cannot make Counterspell target itself or make another Deflection target itself. [D'Angelo 99/12/07] (Misdirection and deflection basically have the same rulings)You may make the counterspell target the misdirection though. The misdirection will resolve, changing the target of counterspell to the misdirection. The counterspell will go to resolve and not have a legal target so it will "fizzel" (new term is be countered). __________________

Thanks for the answer. There was some dispute as to whether Nether Void had been errataed to read something like "spells cost 3 more to play" or something. if i have a humility and play a spike feeder does he end up a 1/1 with no ablities, a 2/2 with no ablitiies, or a 3/3 with no abilties. I think it's a 3/3 since it get's 2 counters and then becomes's a 1/1 instead of a 0/0 and ends up a 3/3.

I have a question, it is concerning cards in the upcoming set. Eveyone knows what silver drake will do, 3/3 flier and bounce a creature back to your hand. Everyone also knows what meddling mage will do, name a card, it can't be played. Can you play the mage and then bounce it back with the drake and then play it again naming another card and making 2 cards unable to be played? I think so because the mage doesn't say anything about its effect not working when it is not in play but this is a complex predicament which would take me an intensely deep thought for me which I do not wish to persue. If anyone caould help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. __________________ They take your pleasure and replace it with pain. -Kyle Foust

Well, this message is directed to caquaa, about that flame rift, say I cast flame rift and me and my opponent were at 4 life each, I would lose the game, if a player plays a spell or ability that simultaneously wins and loses him the game, he DOES lose the game, I am not a judge but am planning to take the test in a month, the reason I know about the flame rift ruling is that I have asked one level 3 judge and 3 level 1 judges.

Reap cost 1G Instant Return any number of target cards from your graveyard to your hand. You may not return more cards in this way than the number of black cards an opponent controls.Would this recheck its restriction upon resolution? So if a black card leaves play after it is announced its caster would get to choose one card not to pick up? Or is it just a targeting restriction checked once? __________________ email me at gzeiger@hotmail.com All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither; Deep roots are not touched by frost. --- JRR Tolkien

ILG4E999: The spike feeder would get the two counters. Then the effects are applied as I stated earlier and the feeder would be a 1/1 w/ no ablities.adamisthebest: The set has no been released so i will not answer questions on it yet since the EXACT wording on all cards is not out yet. plaguemaster: Your opponent gets to search your graveyard, hand, and library looking for squirle tokens and remove them from the game (of course they will not find any). There is no restriction on not being able to play/make any more squirle tokens. Sorry, we don't do e-mails. Just bookmark this thread. pacegal: How about these rules for you:
The state-based effects are: [CompRules 99/11/01] a) A player with zero or less life loses the game. G.20.1 - If both players lose the game at the same time or during the resolution of a single part/event of a spell or ability, the game ends in a draw. It does not matter if one player has a more negative life total. [CompRules 99/04/23] The rule you were talking about refers to something different. Don't be so quick to say I am wrong next time LORD PHAT_DIABLO X: G.37.3 - It does not matter if the permanent was a creature at the start of your most recent turn. You just had to control the permanent at that time. [D'Angelo 98/02/03] So if you animate a land or artifact (see Rule K.5) that you controlled at the start of the turn, then it is not subject to the effects of summoning sickness. K.2.Ruling.1 - Because they are creatures, they are subject to creature restrictions such as being unable to attack unless they started your most recent turn in play under your control (see Rule G.37). [D'Angelo 98/02/03] It has summoning sickness so it can not attack unless he happens to give it haste (ie: has has fires of yavamia in play) Dark Prodigy: Thanks for the link, but I go here to see what cards do because it always has the current errata on them You do not get to pay the kicker for the next thicket elemental because you are not playing it. You can only pay kicker when you play the creature card, not when it comes into play via other means. gzeiger: This one was easy. How bout a quote: The count of the number of black permanents opponents control is done during announcement since it only affects target selection. It does not get recounted later. Sorry caquaa, I have to help explain your answerILG4E999:This is what happens when Humility is in play... When figuring out your creatures' abilities and power/toughness, apply all card effects in the order they entered play. Built-in abilities of a creature and any counters on the creature are applied first. Then, you apply all external effects in the order they entered play. The result of this is that any effects on the creatures' abilities or power/toughness in play before Humility enters play are completely overridden. But that any played after Humility enters play stay. [D'Angelo 97/12/01] For example, a Crusade is in play, then a Humility enters play. All your white creatures are 1/1. If Humility enters play, then Crusade, your white creatures are 2/2 (they become 1/1 then get +1/+1 in that order). See Rule K.10.Ruling.1. K.10.2 - Counters on a creature are applied before applying any external effects. [CompRules 99/04/23] K.10.Ruling.1 - Because of Rule K.10.2, the current power/toughness of a creature is calculated like this: a) start with the initial value, b) apply any plusses and minuses from counters, c) apply plusses and minuses from other effects in the order in which those effects entered play (unless the ordering rules for continuous effect change this ordering). [CompRules 99/04/23] So the feeder would get its counters then the Humility's effect would happen making it a 1/1 with no abilities. __________________ BlackStorm Enterprises Founder Pres./CEO Now You Know And Knowing Is Half The Battle!! Okay, supposed I have a spirit linked Serra Avatar in play (with, say, 20 life) and an opponent casts Wave of Reckoning (or Repentance). The 20 damage from the Avatar to itself would be put on the stack, as would the life gained via Spirit Link. My question is in what order? Would the Avatar take 20, die, and THEN give the player another 20 life? Or would the life gain occur at the same time or before the damage is dealt, and the Avatar would suddenly grow to 40/40, and survive the 20 damage? Or would the life gain not even trigger until the damage is actually dealt, and with the Avatar dead and spirit link gone the player wouldn't gain a thing?
