Ha I'm back! Did you miss me? As you can probably tell I am running out of ideas heh.If you put a false demise on an iridescent drake when it comes into play, and it dies, doesn't the false demise trigger, bringing it back into play, and allowing you to re-enchant it with the same false demise? DOes power artifact + grim monolith = infinite colorless mana? Or has this been stopped? Deflection game text states the new target must be legal, however misdirection does not. Was this intended? Or is it errata'd? Can a COP white be used on a white creature even if it has pro white, or is untargetable? If someone casts a spell you don't like, is it legal to activate planar portal, find and cast an opportunity, draw a counterspell, and counter the spell? And yes I realise you could just portal for the counterspell. Can you deflect a deflection? If so, which part can you deflect? The spell its targeting, or the new target? I'm guessing this may have something to do with the legal target part, but then i could also bring in the misdirection complication... If you use kill switch to lock down all artifacts, and you untap it during your untap step, do all your other artifacts untap as well? Then can you use your artifacts, and then re-activate killswitch to lock down only your opponents artifacts? Does Goblin Rock sled count as a goblin? Does Eladimirri, Lord of the Leaves count as an elf, thus affecting himself? Is "unnafected by summoning sickness" the same as haste? If so, why are both terms in use? Can a boa constrictor target any boa constrictor in play? or just its-self? Does howling mine or teferi's puzzlebox activate if you have a necropotence in play? Can you call conspiracy on the creature type: land, donate it to your opponent, and then cast armageddon to destroy all lands and all his creatures (lands) too? If my opponent uses forgotten lore, and and they force my to reselect a new target, can I then, in response activate tornod's crypt and remove his graveyard from the game? Does teferi's puzzlebox activate before or after you draw your normal card? Or is it the active player's choice? If I search for a rebel using a ramosian skymarshall, must I put a rebel into play? Does my opponent have the right to check my library to confirm that I indeed do not have a rebel in there? and if there is, force me to play it? Is prevented damage still dealt? Can you activate nevinyrrals disk and in response capsize it to your hand? In doing so does the disk still go off? Does your opponent lose the game if you use jester's cap on them when they have only two cards left in their library? On jinxed idol, does "permanently" really mean permanently? as in the new controller cannot send it back? How can you sacrifice a creature to its-self? Or is it just one of those things you can do cuz they said so? if someone uses festival on you, can you use relentless assault to attack? Does fog patch trigger laccolith abilities? Whip vine states: Tap target creature with flying blocked by whip vine." Could this be used on a creature that was blocked by whip vine 3 turns earlier? If I cast clone on a legend by mistake is it countered? Can I misdirect it to a new, legal target? If i cast clone on a target, and someone makes the target untargetable in response, can i misdirect the clone to a new legal target? Scenario: There is a psychic venom on my island, I am at 2 life. My opponent uses his ring of gix to tap my land. Is there anyway to save myself with the ability to untap the land? Is scoria cat a 6/6 if you have no lands in play? Is the laccolith ability faster then first strike? If I activate my safe haven to save a creature that has taken lethal damage, and someone strip mines it in response, does the stack still resolve and remove my creature from the game instead of just sending it to the graveyard? DO phased out creatures untap as normal during the untap phase? or if they are tapped when phased out, stay that way when phased back in? I heard phasing only triggers "leaves play" effects. Is this true? Can I use quicksilver amulet to put palinchron into play to untap 7 lands? With palinchron can you untap any combination of player's lands? If in the middle of a turn you took with final fortune you cast time warp, do you still die before you get your time warp turn? What happens when you fork your opponent's final fortune? Can you fork a terror and target a white knight? Round four is at an end. I'm gonna have to start asking friends for more questions to pose. Cuz I'm fresh out. Stay tuned for round 5... hopefully

AdamHBomb: You must sacrifice the needles as soon as the last counter is removed so you don't have a chance to sac it to anything, let alone a spell that is still on the stack. Answer: No.Spirit of Day: You only can use creature abilities while they are in play unless they say otherwise. The spirit's ability can only be used while in play. With two cloaks the creature would be a 6/6. Each cloak would gain you 6 life when combat damage is dealt so you would gain 12 Coolio: It is okay with me that you don't post. I have something to do when motl gets a bit slow for me I was wondering when a new post would come. Guess it is here

asphinx: 1) The text on the drake has been changed to: Text(UD+errata): 2/2, Flying. ; When ~this~ comes into play, if you played it from your hand, return target enchant creature card from a graveyard to play enchanting ~this~. (You control that enchantment.) [Oracle 99/07/21] This was to prevent that sort of combo.2) Power artifact + grim monolith can get you any amount of mana. However, it can not get you infinite mana since infinity is a concept, not a number. Simply tap & untap til you get what you need/ want. 3) Both deflection and misdirection read: Text(6th+errata): Change the target of target spell with a single target. [Oracle 00/10/24] The misdirection just has the added alternate casting cost(acc) text. 4) Damage prevention just looks at the source of the damage. COP: white just checks to see if the damage came from a white source, it doesn't need to target or anything that protection would stop. Story circle is good vs blastoderm 5) Their spell goes on the stack. You activate planar portal. Let the stack begin to resolve and go find opportunity. Then add opportunity to the stack. Let the stack begin to resolve again. Draw four cards. Add counterspell on the stack targeting the other spell that is still on the stack. It gets countered when the counterspell resolves. The spells on the stack resolve one at a time and you can respond after each resolves. 6) Lets use a misdirection and a deflection so it doesn't get so confusing (they have the same game text). Your opponent cast a misdirection on your giant growth (just an example). You can deflect the target of his misdirection to your defletion since it is the only spell on the stack (unless you want to change it from the giant growth to the giant growth). The deflection resolves making the misdirection target it. When the misdirection resolves it finds that it doesn't have a target and is countered. You could also have the misdirection target any other legal spell on the stack in which case you chose the new target for the misdirection, but the misdirections controller changes teh targetof misdirection's new target. Hope you followed that. 7) Only the kill switch will untap suring your upkeep because it is tapped when the others go to untap. I could be wrong, but don't think so. 8) Goblin rock sled is a creature - rock-sled. 9) No, he is a creature - lord. He would have to be a creature - elf to count as an elf. 10) "Unaffected by summoning sickness" is no longer in use. "Haste" now replaces that. Note- summoning sickness is no longer an official term but no term has been made to replace it. 11) The text of boa is: Text(MM): 3/3. ; {Tap}: ~this~ gets +3/+3 until end of turn. Nearly all cards that say their name mean only themsleves. There are some like Akron Legionnaire that have their text errataed to make it moe clear. Akron Legionnaire: Text(5th+errata): 8/4. ; Except for creatures named Akron Legionnaire and artifact creatures, creatures you control can't attack. [Oracle 99/11/01] Just go to crystalkeep and look up the current oracle wording. 12) They don't activate since you have no draw step. 13) K.11.7 - If you are asked to choose a creature type, you do not have to choose a creature type which already exists in the game. You can make up your own type, such as Platypus, if you choose. This type can only have one word. You may not choose a name which has another meaning in the game, such as "opponent" or "land". Also, slanderous, obscene, and otherwise offensive choices are considered poor sportsmanship and may cause ejection from a tournament. [CompRules 99/04/23] You can choose any creature type that exists on any Magic card in existance. You cannot choose the name of a card in Magic (unless that name is also a creature type), or any word that is in the glossary of the comprehensive rules or is otherwise used to mean something special under the rules. [bethmo 99/11/30] 14) You can not do anything suring the resolution of the spell. YOou would have to do this before the lore begins to resolve. 15) You get to chose to put your normal draw on the stack first or the puzzle box on the stack first since you are the active player. 16) If you have one you have to take it. If you don't then your opponent can not look through your deck, but I guess if they wanted to be an *&$ then they could ask a judge to check I guess. 17) Prevented damage is not considered dealt 18) The disk's ability goes on the stack. The ncapsize goes on the stack returning the disk to your hand before it destroys itself. Note- Disk does not require sacrifice, it normal would just destroy itself. 19) You only lose when you can not draw. Having no dck doesn't mean you lose (or searching to remove something that isn't there doersn't make you lose). 20) The idol should read: Text(TE+errata): At the beginning of your upkeep, ~this~ deals 2 damage to you. ; Sacrifice a creature: Target opponent gains control of ~this~. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.) [Oracle 00/10/24] Your opponent can use the ability to give this card back to you. [D'Angelo 98/11/11 21) It commits suicide You can sac it to itself unless it says you can't. 22) The wording on festival is: Text(DK+errata): Play only during an opponent's upkeep. That player can't declare attackers this turn. [Oracle 99/09/03] It doesn't matter how many attack steps you get. 23) The ability triggers even if it is blocked by a spell such as Fog Patch instead of a creature. [Nemesis FAQ 00/02/07] 24) No, it has to be blocked that turn by whip vine. 25) When it comes into play it will die. You can misdirect it because the legend rule only takes effect when the card comes into play. 26) Yes. It checks to see if the target is legal when you anounce the spell and when the spell resolves. What happens in the middle doesn't matter. 27) No, the damage ability will be on the stack. Nothing much you can do about it. 28) Yes 29) Ultra first strike. (yes) 30) As soon as the creature takes lethal damage it dies. If the damage is on the stack and you can activate the safe haven then. If the safe haven gets destroyed while the ability is still on the stack the creature is still removed. 31) G.27.1 - When a permanent "phases out", it goes to the Phased Out zone (see Rule Z.7). Phased out permanents are not in play and cannot be affected by any spell or ability which does not explicitly say it affects phased out cards. [Mirage, Page 1] G.27.2 - When a permanent "phases out", all abilities will trigger which would trigger on that permanent leaving play. [D'Angelo 97/07/03] G.27.3 - When a permanent "phases out", all local enchantments on it are also phased out with it. [Mirage, Page 1] G.27.4 - When a permanent "phases out", it keeps any counters or unlimited-duration (see Rule T.8.14) effects on it. All limited-duration effects (see Rule T.8.14, ones that only last until some time or some condition is met, such as a "until end of turn" or "as long as <something> is tapped", and ones that are to happen at some time in the future, such as "at end of turn") are cancelled and never happen. Also, all damage is removed from the permanent. [Mirage, Page 1] [WotC Rules Team 00/02/16] G.27.5 - A permanent which is "phased out" will automatically "phase in" at the beginning of your next untap step (see Rule P.5). [Mirage, Page 1] They do not have to have Phasing ability (see Rule A.23) to phase in. G.27.6 - Any permanents phasing out at the beginning of the untap step because they have the Phasing (see Rule A.23) ability will phase out at the exact same time that "phased out" permanents will be phasing in. There is no time when both sets of permanents are in play. [bethmo 96/09/19] G.27.7 - Permanents "phase in" in the same tapped/untaped state they were when they phased out. [Mirage, Page 2] G.27.8 - Permanents "phase in" without summoning sickness (see Rule G.37). [Mirage, Page 2] G.27.9 - Any abilities which would trigger when the permanent "comes into play" will _NOT_ trigger when it "phases in". [Mirage, Page 2] This is a special and important rule about Phasing that may not seem like common sense. It is nonetheless a rule. G.27.10 - Any effects which modify how a permanent "comes into play", such as Kismet, will _NOT_ affect a card "phasing in". [Duelist Magazine #18, Page 28] G.27.11 - If a permanent "phased out" under your control, but it was only under your control due to a temporary effect (see Rule G.27.4), then it will phase in at the start of your next untap step, but it will phase in under its actual controller's control. [bethmo 96/10/03] G.27.12 - Permanents remember their history when they phase in. For example, a The Fallen remembers who it has damaged, and a Safe Haven will not forget which creatures it has set aside. [Duelist Magazine #16, Page 24] G.27.13 - Enchantments on a permanent "phase in" when the permanent phases in, but if the permanent never phases in, the enchantments do not return either. For example, a token creature with enchantments on it that phases out will cease to exist and will never phase in, so its enchantments stay out of play. [WotC Rules Team 96/12/03] G.27.Ruling.1 - A token creature that "phases out" ceases to exist. See Rule K.25.6. [D'Angelo 99/05/01] G.27.Ruling.2 - When a permanent "phases in", its effects are considered to be the newest ones for the order in which to apply effects. [Aahz 96/11/08] G.27.Ruling.3 - When a permanent "phases out", any spell or ability that is on the stack which is targeting that permanent will not notice that it is gone until the spell or ability starts to resolve. If the permanent "phases in" before the spell or ability starts to resolve, then permanent is the same permanent and it will still be the target of the spell or ability. [DeLaney 00/07/03] Note - Also see the Phasing ability, Rule A.23. Note - If more than one card phases in at a single time, you may need to determine the order in which their effects enter play. See Rule G.34.3. 32) Yes, see above 33) Yes, as long as it comes into play from your hand it untaps the lands. 34) P.2.3 - A spell or ability may grant a player an additional turn after the current one. If multiple additional turns are granted during one turn, take these additional turns in the order granted. [CompRules 99/11/01] 35) Up to seven lands, it doesn't matter whos they are. 36) Se e above rule. You get the first extra turn. If you live through it and don't win (ie sac the turn to time vault) then they get the next extra turn. If they live throught it and don't win then turn order proceeds as normal starting where you left off so it would be your turn. 37) It doesn't copy the color of the terror so it can target the knight since it isn't black. Where do you come up with all these? gee...

HiI attack with 2 Ophidians, one enchanted with an Empyrial Armor, and they're both unblocked. If I want to draw a card with the unarmored Ophidian and deal damage with the armored one, can I draw a card and increase the armored before it deals damage? Thanks

Grim_85: Well you get to chose whether or not to do the ability right after the declar blockers step so you chose to draw the card, then it is damage dealing step. You can make it bigger.Trnothr: Part of the cost to activate the high market is sac a creature, You do this right after you declare the ability before any responses can be done. This means it is in your graveyard before they can do anything about it. New post attracting more questions or something? (Maybe it is because they know theri questions will be answered in minutes since I am online, hehe)

Here's a few more I thought up to pass the time of day.Can you sac a volcanic island to lithphage? It counts as a mountain but it isn't one... Can you kill a creature with shrink, if you use a dwarven thaumaturgist on the creature first? If someone stone rains one of your lands, and you dump the mana into your pool, can they they then declare your attack phase, thus forcing you to "use it or lose it?" HEY LOOK I'VE NOW ASKED 100 QUESTIONS! GO ME! Can you deflect a stupor upon its caster? If there is a dehydration on one of your creatures, Can you cast a paralyse on that creature and untap it with that? Are you saying your not sure how kill switch works? If it works in the way i was suggesting i want one heh. If card forces you to reveal cards, does your opponent get any amount of time he wants to get to see them, like say 2 hours? Can he get a pad of paper and a pen and jot down the names and what they do? (especially if they're all foreign ) If Personal Incarnation is swords to plowshared, do you gain 6 life and not lose any? Does mindswords trigger Megrim? Can anything other then "untapping" be done during or before the untap step (before the upkeep)? Is thran dynamo activated as a mana ability? What I mean is, can it be countered with bind? If you use grinnnig totem on a creatue in your opponent's library, Can your opponent make you discard the card with a hymn to tourach as if it was in your hand? You lose the game when you cannot draw. Can you lose the game to a worry beads if you do not have any cards left in your library? (I realise you'd die during the draw phase anyways, but i'm trying to get technical here. With a kisnet in play, would putting a city of brass in play cause me to take one damage immeidately? Can you put a fire whip on nicol bolas, then tap it to make someone drop their hand?

I was playing Nether-Go against a friend I dominated one of his echo creatures he had argued that I had to repay echo during my upkeep, however I had recalled a discussion over skizzik saying pretty much the samething as kicker wouldnt have to be payed over again if someone were to parallax wave it or even take control of it. So my question is, was I right or was I wrong?

SoulReave: D.10.3 - After drawing your initial hand for a game, you have the option of calling a Mulligan. To do this, simply shuffle your hand back into your library and draw a hand with one fewer cards. For example, if you Mulligan once, you start the game with just 6 cards in your hand, not 7. [Tournament Rules 09/01/98]GottaLoveElves: Yes, the creature only needs to be attacking. MoUsE-WiZ: G.29.3 - Regeneration is defined as "The next time this permanent would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage from it, tap it, and (if it's in combat) remove it from combat." [CompRules 99/11/01] The creature gets removed from combat so it doesn't get to deal damage. Also, please do not attempt to answer queastions even if you know you are right (which in this case you were not). asphinx: Great, here we go again 1) You can sac a volcanic because it counts as a mountain. 2) Cards text: Text(WL+errata): 1/2. ; {Tap}: Switch target creature's power and toughness until end of turn. Effects that alter that creature's power alter its toughness instead, and vice versa, until end of turn. [Oracle 99/07/01] It also alters other effects so it would alter the shrink even if it comes after the ability. 3) They can declare their attack phase, not "YOURS". Hehe. Yeah, they can do that. 4) No, the target must be legal. Your opponent is not a "target opponent" when casting his own spell. 5) Yup (note - Two Paralyzes are not cumulative. Paying either one will untap the creature.) 6) I am pretty sure how it works. Actually I know I am right on that. Here is the rule to back that up: P.5.Ruling.3 - If untapping a permanent changes what other permanents may untap, those changes do not apply during this turn. [D'Angelo 98/01/09] For example, untapping a Winter Orb will not cause you to back up and choose only one land to untap. And untapping an Amber Prison will not let the permanent it was holding tapped untap at that time. I know my rules, I just forget half of them late at night, hehe. 7) No, that would be stalling: D.3.13 - Players must take their turns in a timely fashion. Deliberately stalling is not allowed and can give you a warning. Failure to begin a match in a timely way in order to get a psychological advantage is grounds for disqualification. [Tournament Rules 10/01/96] They can not record that info. They only can record: whether or not you played a land damage and what dealt it your opponents life total (there are a few others. I couldn't seem to find this list, but I did ask the head judge at a PTQ recently). 8)You only lose half your life when it goes to the graveyard, but swrods removes it from the game. You would gain the 6 life of course. 9) No, megrim only triggers when cards are discarded. Mind Swords only removes cards from the game, it doesn't makes you discard. 10) No, no player gains priority before the upkeep. 11) A.6.1 - Any activated ability which puts mana into a player's mana pool is a mana ability. Any triggered ability that triggers off a mana ability and which also puts mana into a player's mana pool is also a mana ability. [CompRules 99/11/01] 12) No because it is not in your hand to be discarded. 13) NO!!! only when you can not draw (due to anything, not just the draw step) 14) Cards enter play tapped. They do not come into play untapped and then immediately tap, therefore they do not trigger any effects due to tapping. [D'Angelo 98/02/03] 15) Whenever ~this~ damages to an opponent, that player discards his or her hand. [Oracle 99/09/03] The creature gains the ability form fire whip so the creature does the damage. No more hand for your opponent. What, no more questions ? RaZoRsEdGe: Echo is: A.12.2 - This ability means "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this card came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, you may pay its mana cost. If you don't, sacrifice it." [CompRules 99/04/23] Kicker is: A.20.2 - The ability means "You may pay an additional <cost> when playing this spell." The text will then include a description of what happens if you pay (or do not pay) the optional cost. [D'Angelo 00/10/14] The difference is sort of obvious (and right on the card if you would learn to read ) Pay the echo and get on with the game... __________________

ok, I think I have a combo but not sure about timing issues. I have two chains of mephistophiles and a howling mine. the first draw is legal but chains is triggered and you discard that card, then the second is triggered and you mill a card. you never get any cards. you don't die yourself because of gaea's blessings. they never get any cards and constantly mill basically two cards per turn. does this work or what?

Maestro: Chains of Mephistopheles will each trigger on the second card draw to howling mine and both will make you discard. It works better with anvil of bogardan because then you only need one chains. You can also use a card like Gustha's Scepter to save a card from teh chains, but then you would have to m,ill yourself, but you would still be able to draw a card. If you have multiple chains out, each one makes you discard a card for each extra card you draw, but once you mill a card away, no other chains effect that draw. Things that don't make you specifically draw are good too like abundance.Sure, that combination works. RaZoRsEdGe: Didn't mean to offend you, I was just saying it was printed on the card, hehe.

Ya a few more b4 i go to sleepIf someone casts wrath of god, killing 3 of your creatures, can you decide which order they go to the graveyard? If I use parallax nexus to remove 3 cards in a players hand from the game, can all players see these cards? Are you supposed to shuffle your graveyard before using Search for survivors? Otherwise how do you pick a card at random if you know the order? Can lava burst can be prevented or redirected if it targets a player? Must all players have at least one creature in play to be able to cast curfew? What happens if you Clone an Opal Acrolith as a guardian, and activate its ability. Does it stay an enchantment forever?

asphinx: 1) Yes, but they do go to the graveyard simotaneously (you just chose the order tehy are in your graveyard). That made sense, right?2) Yes, it does not say they are removed face down. Any one can view cards that are removed from the game face up. 3) Text(PY): Shuffle your graveyard. An opponent chooses a card from it at random. If that card is a creature card, put it into play. Otherwise, remove it from the game. The graveyard's order is randomized by this spell. [Prophecy FAQ 00/05/25] 4) Yes, only works vs creatures. 5) Nope, they just have to return a creature they have in play. It doesn't target anything. 6) It can turn back into a creature since it has the same game text as the opal acrolith. __________________

Thanks for posting those links! They answered my question so now I don't have one... [Fastbond and Storm Cauldron-- you still take damage for the second land.]Had two other questions but realized both were answered on the links I so recently praised-- just needed to look harder. Ironically we played both situations incorrectly The Soup
