Ok, I am interested in knowing if I have a Tangle wire and storage matrix in play. can I use the wire to tap my matrix BEFORE my untap then untap it so I can untap all my cards and since the matrix is untapped my opponent will only be able to untap one type of card? I emailed jiverson for you, Coolio, since you've answered that one before My question is: Is the upkeep ability of Wild Dogs and Ghazban Ogre triggered by the life count, or does it trigger every upkeep? If it triggered each upkeep to check the situation, then instants could be played at that time in order to gain (or lose, hypothetically) control of it. __________________ email me at gzeiger@hotmail.com All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither; Deep roots are not touched by frost. --- JRR Tolkien

What`s the difference between played(Play), and Cast? They used to just say Succesfully cast to show the difference between casting a spell, and when it resolves. But with the Stack thing now, they no longer use the term. Does Played (Or play)mean the card must come into play(IE Sucsefully cast), or just cast? For example: I have a Skittering Skirge in play(Which has been errated to say: When you play a creature spell, sacrifice ~this~.). If I try to cast another creature, and it gets countered, do I still have to sacrifice the Skirge(I`ve been told yes at a local tourny, but I hope they were wrong)? And not that it matters, but Can Blind Seer counter spells while Mana Maze is in play(So long as another spell was cast of course)? I don`t think so, but better just to make sure.

I have a pandemonium and a serpentine kavu in play. My opponent waves out my kavu with his last counter, and my kavu returns to play on his next turn. Can I deal 4 damage to him through pandemonium, or is this illegal?__________________ "Don't run, you'll just die tired....."

Me and my friend were just having a Saga booster draft so.. If I attack with a Seasoned Marshall and he has an Elite Archers, can he tap his Archers in response to kill my Seasoned Marshall?
Also, if he has an Opal Caryatid, and I try to cast a Monk Realist.. can I target the Caryatid?

Can someoen clear up fading for me? a card comes into play with 5 fading counters, and has the ability (lets say a parallax) that you can remove a counter to remove a land from the game, and when there are no more counters, then bury the parallax and return the lands to play. But fading says that each turn you remove a counter in your upkeep, right? so im wondering, can i remove 4 of the five counters, in one turn. then next upkeep the 5th goes away? or what?

This is a question about cspells (this actually happened too)Late Game, U/B Control w/ Woe vs U/W Control: I drop a Blinding Angel, hoping to shut out his combat phases before his last Woe comes out. Next turn, he taps 2 swamps, double rituals, 2 more swamps and drops an AoW. I counter the Woe. He Undermines my counter. I absorb the Undermine. Finally, he's tapped out, but he removes a couterspell from the game and Misdirects my Absorb (last on stack) to his Misdirection, thus letting the Undermine go through? (Its confusing but it confused me too) So basically, the stack is: Misdirection - Him Absorb - Me Undermine - Him Counterspell - Me Avatar of Woe - Him Help! What resolves?!?!

Ok, this has been really irking me as of late. I was at FNM, and this guy had out a sandstone needles and a forest. He had 1 counter left on the needles and tapped it for the 2 mana and tapped the forest to play harrow. He targetted the needles, and did his thing. When he started doing it, I asked him it that was legal, and he said yea. Then our resident rules guru said that was legal. But I thought as soon as you remove the last counter, the needles die. I think that nothin happens to the first dreams, but the second Dreams wopuld not go through, or would have no effect... that's what I read out of it anyway but I'd like to know the right answer __________________ "It's OK. if you know stuff about rules please tell me the answers to these. Thanks.1. Chris has a Crusade and an AEther Flash out. Tyler plays a White Knight. What happens to the Knight? 2. Chris plays Living Death, in response Tyler returns two islands to his hand to play Gush. One of the cards he draws is a Foil. Can Tyler now counter Living Death? 3. Tyler taps his Prodigal Sorcerer to do 1 damage to Chris. Chris casts Terror on the Sorcerer in response. What happens? 4. Chris has 1 life left. Realizing his destruction is eminent he plays a Healing Salve by tapping his Adarkar Wastes for W, dealing 1 damage to him. What happens? 5. Tyler plays Unearth to bring his White Knight back into play. Can he do that? 6. Tyler attacks with a Mogg Fanatic. Chris blocks with a Carnophage. Can Tyler sacrifice the Mogg during the damage assignment stage and deal the 1 damage to Carnophage and still have the Mogg deal the damage it was assigned to deal via combat? 7. Tyler plays a Goblin Berserker and then attacks with it. After Tyler's attack is declared Chris uses his Icy Manipulator to tap the Goblin in response to it tapping to attack. What happens? 8. Tyler is using his Elf deck which is notorious for producing enormous amounts of mana. He taps his Priest of Titania producing 5 green mana, but he only wants to play a Llanowar Elf. To avoid the 4 mana burn he attempts to play his Ancient Silverbacks regeneration ability 4 times. Can he do this? 9. Tyler has an Infernal Genesis out. During his upkeep he puts the top card of his library into his graveyard. The card is Wax/Wane. How many tokens does he get? 10. Chris has a tapped Tooth of Ramos and a Covetous Dragon in play. In an effort to kill the Dragon, Tyler cast Disenchant on the Tooth of Ramos. Chris realizes that his Dragon and his Tooth of Ramos will die so he sacrifices the Tooth in response to the disenchant and plays a Sword to Plowshares on his Dragon with the mana obtained from the Tooth. When the stack has resolved what is the outcome? 11. Both Chris and Tyler are at 4 life. Tyler attacks Chris with a Flesh Reaver, Chris doesn't block it. What happens? 12. Tyler is attacking Chris with his Scaled Wurm. Chris chooses to quadruple block with 3 Banalish Heroes, and an Alloy Golem. He bands all of them. Legally, what how can Chris assign the damage? 13. Chris has a Humility out. Tyler plays a Rancor on his Black Knight. How big is the Knight? 14. Tyler attacks with his Albino Troll that is enchanted with Armadillo Cloak. Chris blocks with an Alloy Golem, then casts Healing Salve on it. How much life does Tyler gain? 15. Tyler attack with a Phrexian Negator and a Phrexian Broodling. Chris blocks the Negator with an Erhnam Djinn and doesn't block the Broodling. In response to the damage assignment stage Tyler pays 1 and sacrifices the Negator to the Broodling. What happens?

Alright, this will prolly be my last post for a very long while... no access to a comp or no time when I do have access.reinhart: Yes, rancor falls off. When you hit zero you die before the healing salve resolves. When a creature regenerates (not when it activates the regeneration ability) it is removed from combat so it will not deal any damage maxbishop: Thanks, I was prolly in a hurry kingkyle3: He controls the enchantment so he gains the life. Avatar of Might: You have to have a legal target, but seal of cleansing can target itself because it targets before costs are paid. Your opponent dies since the manabarbs is a triggred ability and is put on the stack. Ertai4: No, opposition targets the creature. PalinFlare: Yeah, it does target hence the creature becomes huge. TheAdjudicator: No, the idol just taps our untapped lands. Yeah, you can activate all of your idols. You can target him while he is not in play (ie: on hte stack w/ a counterspell) If you have declared it as an attacker it is still attacking. Selvaxri: No, the fires must be in play to declare them as attackers. gzeiger: Yeah, the damage would kill the opponent before the cloak triggers. Solquest: No, you must put all upkeep effects on the stack which means declaring targets. You don't get to return the riders. Plaguelord can sac himsellf for -1/-1 Simo legends die. Sorry I couldn't get to all of the questions. As I mentioned my time is limited Maybe someone else can answer them *hint hint*

um, answer these as well plz:et's say I have Aether Flash and some 1/1 that says "When this comes into play, deal 1 damage to target opponent". The damage goes thru before it dies, right? What about pandemonium and Phyrexian Dreadnought? Does the 12 damage go thru? __________________ Looking for someone to play Apprentice with? Come vote in our polls

Goblin Game What precautions do you take when hiding objects? Do you turn your backs to each other and hide random objects? Do the objects have to consist of matter or can you hide your emotions from someone? Do they lose the game if they look at how much stuff you hide? Can you hide stuff like houses or cars or do you have to hold them? By hiding can you mean blocking them from the other guy's point of view? Sorry caquaa, it had to be done. I won't make a habit of this, coolio, but you've answered these before Damage would be dealt in the first case because both CIP triggers would be activated before either resolves. The Dreadnought does not deal damage if you didn't sacrifice the necessary creatures. The errata reads: If Dreadnought would come into play, you may sacrifice creatures... If you do, put Dreadnought into play. If you don't, put Dreadnought into its owner's graveyard. It never comes into play without the sacrifice, so it wouldn't do any damage.

Well I'll volunteer, I'm not the most informed person on rulings, but that's what crystal keep is for, I'm hopin to some day be a judge so it could be good practice... and God knows I got the spare time... let me know if possible. Oh, and since u don't like ppl posting without a question: If I cast a card with an ACC, and it's rethinked, can I pay the ACC again, or do I have to pay the mana cost? __________________ "It's OK. Oooh! Oooh! I volunteer too! Let me answer few questions to show I know SOME rules... Bakerfam: Simoon will not kill the Glider because the effect is green/red and Thermal Glider has protection from red, which nullifies all damage dealt to it by red sources. mumboman: 1) Knight is automatically 3/3 as it comes into play because of Crusade. It lives. 2) Yes 3) First the Terror resolves, killing the Sorcerer, and then the Sorcerer's ability resolves, dealing 1 damage to Chris. 4) NOT SURE: The mana is added to your mana pool and the damage goes on stack. In response to damage Salve can be used. 5) Yes, because it has converted casting cost of 2. 6) In combat after declaring blockers, you can use fast effects before and after combat damage is on stack. You can sacrifice Mogg Fanatic to deal 1 damage to any target after it puts its damage to Carnophage on stack, so yes. 7) You can not respond like that. All tappings must be done before declaring attackers, in which case Tyler can always choose not to attack at all with any creatures. Manipulator's effect goes to waste. 8) Yes. 9) 2. It counts both casting costs on the card. 10) Dragon is sacrificed before StP is used, so Chris ends up taking one mana burn. 11) Chris dies. 12) Chris can assign all the damage to one of his Heroes. 13) NOT SURE: The knight will become 3/1. If the Humility would have been played after Rancor, Knight would be 1/1. 14) Tyler gains 5 life. 15) Chris takes 2 damage from the Broodling, it becomes 3/3, Erhnam Djinn dies and no permanents will be sacrificed. GottaLoveElves: ACC = Alternative casting cost? You'll have to pay the mana. I hope I didn't get any of these wrong... I want to be a judge some day soon but no 3rd level judges live nearby . Didn't have time to check the dead-proof rules for these, so...

Mumboman: 1.First of all you apply the continous effect of the crusade and then the come into plat effect triggers, so the knight lives. 2.Both players get an opportunity to add to the stack after each spell has resolved, so he can counter living death. 3. Tapping the Prodigal Sorceror puts the 1 damage effect on the stack. the sorcerer leaving play does not effect the ability on the stack. 4.The 1 damage ability is "attached" to the mana abilty and so resolves at mana ability speed. this is the same for all painlands apart from city of brass which has a seperate triggered ability. 5.The ability only applys whilst the knight is in play. all abilities usually follow this rule unless otherwise stated. 6.Tyler can sacrifice the mogg fanatic after combat damage is put on the stack to deal 2 damage to the carnophage. 7.The tapping has to be made before the attack is declared. However, the intention to attack has to be declared. If you are not given a chance you can "rewind" back to the main phase. 8. Yes 9. The split card can't give a single answer so it combines the 2 casting costs. 10. Covetous dragon has a state-based triggered ability. As the sacrifice of the tooth is part of the cost, the covetous dragon checks and sees there are no artifacts in play. the swords to ploughshares can not even be announced as it has no legal target. 11. I need some help with this. 12. My knowledge of banding is a little shaky but i will look into. My advice: don't play things with annoying abilities like this. 13.As the rancor came into play after humility, it means the knight is 3/1 14. 2 15. It depends on whether you are doing this before or after damage has been put on the stack. If before, the negato deals no damage and the broodlings 3. if after the negator deals 5 and the broodlings deal 2.13/15 aint bad. I hope nobody minds me answering, I just want to help out. If I got any of these wrong just mail me and I will edit the post.
