Is suspend a activated ability? If so what would an azourious guildmage do to it?

Suspend is a keyword that represents 3 abilities: * The first ability lets you pay mana and exile the card. This is a static ability that doesn't use the stack. * The 2nd ability lets you remove time counters. This is a triggered ability. * The 3rd ability lets you cast the card when the last time counter is removed. This is also a triggered ability.---- None of these are activated abilities so Azorious Guildmage does not interact with suspend. Stifle and Trickbind are slick though. If you can counter the last (triggered) ability then the card stays exiled permanently.

No. Suspend represents a static ability and two triggered. quote: 702.59a Suspend is a keyword that represents three abilities. The first is a static ability that functions while the card with suspend is in a player’s hand. The second and third are triggered abilities that function in the exile zone. “Suspend N—[cost]” means “If you could begin to cast this card by putting it onto the stack from your hand, you may pay [cost] and exile it with N time counters on it. This action doesn’t use the stack,” and “At the beginning of your upkeep, if this card is suspended, remove a time counter from it,” and “When the last time counter is removed from this card, if it’s exiled, play it without paying its mana cost if able. If you can’t, it remains exiled. If you cast a creature spell this way, it gains haste until you lose control of the spell or the permanent it becomes.”

Yes, you will take full damage from the trampling creature.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, the question: "Fire Servant from M11, if two of them are on the board and I lightning bolt my opponent, does it hit for 6 or 12?"Thanks in advance for an answer, Jesse __________________ "call the hospital now" "I'm gonna kill you" inspiring words from Mino Fazio

It is doubled and then doubled again. 3->6->12

When the Bolt resolves, the 2 Fire Servant replacement effects will kick in, and each be placed on the stack separately. When the first resolves, the damage will be doubled, then the next will resolve, doubling the damage again for a total of 12. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. replacement effects dont actually get placed on the stack (they aren't a triggered ability) so they literally just replace the "effect" that is on the stack already, ie: lightning bolt, as the spell resolves.

Lifeline, Blasting Station and two critters in play.Since Lifeline says,"at the beginning of the next end step", is there 'time' to use Blasting Station to do infinite damage? __________________ NEQUAQUAM VACUUM If you list one of your interests as M:tG you send first.

No, not without infinite turns. If you use Blasting Station's ability before your end step, Lifeline's trigger hasn't resolved yet and you won't get to untap Blasting Station. If you use Blasting Station's ability during the end step AFTER Lifeline's triggers go on the stack, Lifeline's trigger for this creature going to the graveyard won't resolve until the next turn. You can't make an infinite combo this way unless you also have infinite end steps to create infinite triggers. (And if you had infinite turns, you could just kill your opponent with a Prodigal Sorcerer without the need for the Blasting Station OR Lifeline).

Situation that came up today during a game:Opponent as active Rubinia Soulsinger in play. I have in my hand an Avenger of Zendikar and a land. Is it possible for me to play the Avenger, which creates some plant tokens, and then play my land to pump them before my opponent can steal the creature with Rubinia Soulsinger? Thanks in advance! --Evil __________________ I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.

Probably not, if they're smart. It depends on when they try to steal it. If they activate Rubinia with the ETB trigger on the stack, you wil lose the Avenger before you can play the land. If they let the ETB trigger reslve, creating the plants, you now have priority to play the land and the Avenger will trigger and give you counters even if they steal him in response.

Yes he can respond to the avengers ETB ability (that creates plants) with rubina and take it before you can play the land.If he waits till after the ETB plants trigger resolves. Then you can play the land before he can activate rubina. And get the landfall trigger. quote: Originally posted by evilempire22: Situation that came up today during a game:Opponent as active Rubinia Soulsinger in play. At that rate then, does bolt hit for 6 or 12? This is where we were at the draft a couple of weeks ago...

its been answered. 2x double = 12 one replaces 3 damaged with 6, another replaces 6 damage with 12. No replacement effect replaces the same event twice so its not a loop or anything.

okay, it was when I saw the "oops" that I thought I was back to square one! The "stack" part of the equation didn't help either as that is where we got to at the tourney... Anyways, thanks for the clarification. Peace, Jesse __________________ "call the hospital now" "I'm gonna kill you" inspiring words from Mino Fazio

I have trinisphere and defense grid out, how much do opponent's spells cost to play if it's my turn, assuming it was a single color to cast (like swords)?

This happened to me on MTGO, and I think it might be a bug, but I wasn't sure.I have a turntimber ranger and some dorks in play. I cast mass polymorph, flipping up 2 allies (not turntimber rangers) and some irrelevants. I put all my triggers on the stack, and notice that I have two wolf tokens. Should the turntimber ranger that got exiled by the mass polymorph get triggered by the allies revealed by the mass polymorph?

No, the exiled creatures should not trigger. Very strange.

We've been having a debate at my house over Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. I'm fairly certain that I am correct, but would someone please explain how exactly this card works? Using an example would be great. Thanks.Mishra, Artificer Prodigy Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may search your graveyard, hand, and/or library for a card with the same name as that spell and put it onto the battlefield. If you search your library this way, shuffle it.
