Bought a NM- Sea Drake, foiled Golgari Thug, 3x Brainstorm (MM) and 3x Breakthrough for 5$ today

Gotta love D&D stores with boxes of uncommons/commons/foils laying under the comic book shelves where no one can see them

Nice! I've pulled a Llawan and an Italian Gwendolyn Di Corci from the local shop's $1 rare box, and Magic is the main thing there.

The comic shop where I've been playing 90% of my 15-year career of Magic, Golden Memories - closed today. RIP

Q: how many magic players does it take to replace a burnt-out bulb?

A: five. One to replace the bulb, four to stand around and complain that the bulb wasn't the part of the electrical system that was broken in the first place.

Wouldn't the correct answer be:

Five, one to replace the bulb, one to complain that the bulb is busted and is going to break standard, one to complain that it just dies to removal, another to complain that they hate turning the lights on ever since they changed the shape into that ice cream cone thing, and another pining for the old days when bulbs were made of glass rolled on the thighs of virgins and cost $1.00 and he got them but sold them all when they were $2.00 because who's going to pay more than $2.00 for a light bulb.

Also you have the seller of the light bulbs claiming it's the best thing since sliced bread and it's taking the Light Bulb Opens by storm. Buy the light bulb for $24.99, and purchase Lights Premium so you can keep on top of the light bulb metagame!

Dont forget the guy who buys 50 of those light bulbs, never opens them, and then holds on to them in his basement hoping some day that they will be worth 30.00!

Also dont forget the guy who's Home Depot is sold out of lightbulbs so he asks all the others to buy him a lightbulb, ship it to him overnight in a 14k gold box..first, and then he will send them 25.50 for it.

EDH games should not be 5-person affairs. They get absolutely insane. Some features of the 3-hour ish game I played tonight:

- A bonehoard granting its germ +28/+28, plus Wonder and Filth in the graveyard to give it flying and swampwalk
- An 11/11 Triskelion courtesy of the Mimeoplasm and Pelakka Wurm
- Kuon's Essence and Sheoldred, Whispering One forcing everyone else to sacrifice 2 creatures every turn
- Black Sun's Zenith for 6, killing everything, followed by Life's Finale... followed by Living Death bringing everything back

We almost always play 5-person games as a "star" format. It just makes it go so much faster, so we don't end up having super-long drawn out matches. It also makes the politics much more interesting than just a regular FFA.

This is probably my favorite way of playing EDH nowadays. Since there are 2 dedicated opponents, ppl cant afford to just ramp their first 5-6 turns. Nothing worse than edh just turning into mindless battlecruiser mtg.

I hate EDH.

*I suddently have the feeling I'm getting hated right now by the majority of casual players*

What is star? I've never heard that term but it just sounds like you can only attack left and right one person over?

I remember a while back someone mentioned that to get someone to confirm your account on the magiclibrarities forum you had to actually contact one of the admins. Does anyone know which one?

That's the basics of it. Five-person game where the people directly on your left and right are your "allies" for the game. You can't attack them and spells/effects that say "opponents" (Grave Pact or Syphon Mind) do not impact them, at least the way we play. You can target them and their permanents though.

Essentially, you have two opponents that you need to take out to win and two allies that each share an opponent with you. You work with allies to help take out the opponent you share, but there is a point where you have to stop them from winning as well.

No hate for you. I remember what it was like not being able to turn off that "must win all the time" switch.

No, but close to the worst I've ever seen.

Which someone printed off and glued on CGI artwork.

Does any1 have a nice archenemy deck list? I need a deck that consistently beats the crap out of alot of people. I have a decent mono black one but I get pounded sometimes playing just 3 opponents.

Add lots of Black Sun's Zenith, Damnation, Mutilate.

Then go with 4 demigod of revenge, barter in blood, innocent blood, exanguinate, etc...

That is easily the worst alter I've ever seen. Dude clearly just painted over the existing card without stripping off the ink first (using nail polish removal or sandpaper), which means it's much thicker than a normal magic card, making it tournament illegal.

Not to mention it's hideous. What, he couldn't be assed/wasn't competent enough to extend the bowl or even match the damn color correctly? Eurgh. 5$ is too expensive for a piece of toilet paper IMHO.

Mental Misstep is $3-3.5, keep it out of that box.
