Fiend Hunter. Dissipate. Geist of Saint Traft. Grimoire of the Dead. Stony Silence.I'd put my money on one of the above. __________________ -Schmitty 7th in Refs [193] in OH-IO (Catching up to jmedina) 2nd in Posts [5887] in OH-IO (Have a long way to go to catch Val) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place.” - Rick Pitino

I really want to like Geist, but...I don't know...what's stopping it from getting chumped on its first swing in your typical aggressive standard environment? Or is it more used for a stall tactic to encourage opponents to keep blockers open to knock it out? Or am I missing something entirely about it? edit: inglish harrd.

Which would be a better route to go for Aggro if I wanted to play Standard?G/W Humans or Timely Reinforcements/Midnight Haunting/Elspeth Tirel/Hero of Bladehold token aggro? __________________ -Schmitty 7th in Refs [199] in OH-IO (Catching up to jmedina) 2nd in Posts [6001] in OH-IO (only 2000 behind Val) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place.” - Rick Pitino

I don't know if Timely Reinforcement would have good synergy with an Aggro deck. And Elspeth Tirel may be too expensive for an Aggro deck.

My choice also. Feels like it's gonna be a solid $5 bird. Then again, I though the Saddle Bags from M12 was going to be worth a few bucks but none of the teenybopper pros are playing it yet so... Still early though, the wagon may still pull through.

Mindshrieker is going to be a beast. Repeatable pump is going to win games.

I think I'm going to homebrew a deck this week. I haven't home-brewed in a long time. Definitely starting with blue. I think it will be a tempo based control deck. Not sure what my finisher will be yet, maybe some titans.__________________ *Joshweek*Letter Bombs!*Facebook Me* *Logout- I had it first (second)!*

Mayor of Avabruck and Champion of the Parish for me. Also some of the colorless producing lands with the duo color abilities will probably be better than their current pricetags indicate.

Conditionally. Most decks are going to either have a turn 4 spell (except maybe Tempered Steel with a really good hand) or enough creatures on the board to block it and then finish you next turn (assuming it flips). So you're probably giving up your turn four to flip it earliest, and then it's a lot less impressive on turn 5. That being said, I need 3 more for my werewolf deck And a fourth Mayor of Avabruck, and a couple instigator gangs, and so on... __________________ It is a known fact that more Americans watch the television than any other appliance.

Anyone have suggestions on how to approach businesses that don't normally accomodate Magic players to see if someone would be willing to let us associate with them for sanctioning purposes? The future of Magic at our local store is less than bright at the moment, and I want to start getting things lined up in case things go south. I have a couple thoughts on places to hold the events, so I can run unsanctioned for a time to keep people playing, but if the WotC freebies dry up, I fear people won't stick around long.__________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Just make sure you're speaking with the owner, then ask? If you explain how wotc sets it up and such... also if they sell magic let them know they might see an increase in sales and such. Its a business so anything that appeals to making money is going to get their attention. If they have area that you're wanting to use for play and such, that might make it a bit more difficult sell. Good luck. Also, not sure what the rent is like for out of the way areas (and I know there are quite a few out there), have you considered running something yourself? I'm not sure what kind of money your players spend. It wouldn't have to be a full time shop or anything. We have someone here that found a small location in the back of an area w/ cheap rent. Hes open on tuesday nights 6-11pm(when we normally played magic), thurdsays for ~2-3 hrs (just to get the shop/paper work in order), friday nights 5-11 (to run FNM), and saturday 10-6 (foe his pokemon stuff and whatever magic things we feel like doing). His site www.mainphasegaming.com It is quite a bit of time investment on your part but would be made easier if you had someone you trusted enough to split up the time with. Just throwing it out there as a possibility if your current shop is going under or such.

If your store just doesn't want to run events you can still be affiliated with them and run them elsewhere. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 11000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 13th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

The problem is that the only place that sells Magic is a Fred Meyer (Kroger) that wouldn't be interested in anything. We got lucky with the video game store, but there simply aren't any places in the area that have anything to do with Magic that we could talk to. I'm exploring other options, but we're just hoping to find some random store that would be willing to let us use their name. Renting a place isn't an option, as $1,000 is the cheapest place I've found, and I'm clearing like $100 a month on a really good month. It would go up some, but there's just no realistic way I'd be able to cover costs.

Even if the store remains in business, which is questionable, people won't keep showing up if I have to keep canceling prereleases and releases because the product I've been promised is not available at the last minute. If I work out a deal with another local business, I'm planning on fronting the money for the Magic orders, giving them a few bucks for their services, then taking possession of the boxes as soon as they arrive and running things myself. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Whats up with people with absurdly low refs (let's say...5) asking for people with 170+ refs (lets say...173) to send first? I don't care if you're a "legit mtg store" or not, I didn't work hard to acquire my refs for them to mean nothing.

Well in tribal terms, yeah. For this set, at least. If the thallid were in Time Spiral block, it'd be good because of it's tribalness.
