wth?
Offer to buy it back for half the price. Call it idiot tax. I know sometimes things look nicer in the scan but when you get a good deal its usually too good to be true. I bought an extended art card for $14 once when the card itself was worth $10. I knew the alter was likely to be bad but I took the risk and it was bad (you can really see the brush strokes). People just want to be handed gold for nothing.

This happened at LGS tonightliar: "I want your Rofellos. You looking to trade your Champion of the Parish also, I need one." newb kid: "Ok, but only as a set. I think I have to anyways since I want that Bonfire. It's a lot, but it's gone down, right?" liar: "Yeah, you okay with SCG? (checks phone) Bonfire's gone down to about $40. So Rofellos is around 10 and the Champions are $4-5. So pick out something else. I'll give you a deal if you pick something out of this page. (shows crap page with EDH junk)" newb kid: "Ok, man Bonfire used to be liked $50! How about Restoration Angel?" liar: "That's not small. Something else? (hands over a box of bulk rares)" newb kid: "Don't find anything there, but Gisela? I need that one." liar: "Okay. We good? Cool." The trade involved a few more money cards (all of them ending up in the liar's side of the trade) but Bonfire and Rofellos were the ones that stood out. Afterwards, the kid wanted to trade with me. He asked me what guide I used for prices. I told him that I don't use a guide, I just trade if I want to. If I'm willing to trade what's in my pile for your pile, then I'm cool, don't bother looking up the price of every card because it's probably not going to work. Then he got suspicious as if I was going to rip him. I knew that I made a mistake and that he was one of those who follow guides blindly. He insisted that we used prices and a guide. And asked me if I used SCG? I said, "Did you use SCG on that trade you just made with that guy? And how are you going to look up SCG since you don't have a smart-phone? I don't have a smart-phone either." I then pointed out to him that if he is so insistant on using SCG, Bonfire isn't $40 and that it's $25. I told him that the other guy just straight lied to him on using a guide and that he's been ripped off if all he's going to do is use guides. In the middle of pulling out my cards, he stops and says we can't trade anymore. He's pretty angry and upset. Later, after the Tues. night draft, I apologized for any hard feelings. I told him that if he's upset it's okay, I pointed out that he got ripped and if think it's rude or I stepped out of place, I apologized. But I asked him again on the value of Bonfire and since he has no phone how does he know it's $40 and the guys no lying? Then the kid stood up for the guy who ripped him, saying that he trusts him. I was like, what?!?! You trust a dude who just ripped you? Okay, help yourself, man. It's like telling a girl who gets beat by her boyfriend. "You got to leave that bum." And she gets mad at you because you called her boyfriend a bum.

Once again I'm suprised by the sheer stupidty of traders on this website. I make an offer for cards the guy has listd as "high priority"....it's even $10 in his favor according to the website he wants to use to determine value. Not like small stuff either, a bunch of $15-20 cards for a bunch of $15-20 cards on his side. Some more some less but it's not like trading a bunch of $1 rares for a $30 rare.
Anyway, I get the message back...."No way man, I'm not trading down for stuff I don't need". 1.I didn't know cards from Innistrad block(some from his side) and Avacyn Restored were considered "vintage". Meanwhile most of my cards were from the same blocks....but he's "trading down".... 2.Don't put cards on your "high priority" list if they aren't "high priortiy". Man....I wish I was a mod just for one day...only to go through the h/w list and literally ban anyone that is screwing with the trade matcher with this bs. It's frustrating beyond words.

This is why I stopped trading on this site and just sell and buy. It's gets to complicated with everyone's little rules. The mythical premium, traders who list their friends cards, and hard to get decked cards have killed it for me. There is nothing complicated with I'll sell these for this amount and buy those for this amount.

Even with transaction costs (time, post cost, et al), it's still much easier to buy and sell than trade. I haven't traded much since 2005 here. Also, I've figured out that you really don't want to call out other people too much without a good idea of what the personal relationships are. Some guy is apparently still mad at me for "ripping" somebody in like 2004 for a trade involving a Kokusho. Except that I never traded for a Kokusho, I only ever traded them away when I got bored of Greater Good deck. As a studious outsider you are unlikely to have any idea of what's really going on.

Went to the post office to mail out some packages. There were some international packages in the lot. The lady behind the counter said to me, "These aren't really worth $15, are they?" I doubt she really cares, but so awkward. It was probably only a couple hundred bucks worth or stuff ><

I was reading this articlehttp://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/td/222 And saw that both Jund decks run 2 copies of Inquisition of Kozilek and 3 copies of thoughtseize. It seems to me that thoughtseize is better so why not run 4 and 1? Is this just to avoid getting screwed over as badly by things like cranial extraction that remove all copies of a card from your deck?

Most of the time, Inquisition will hit what Thoughtseize would have hit without the life loss.

i think there was a time when they played 3 inquisition and 2 thoughtseize, but theyve switched it for life loss reasons and thoughtseize helps versus things like RG tron

There's the problem. When I read it I thought thoughtseize made THEM lose life.

Also, things like meddling mage, if that's still played, or cabal therapy. Or whatever.

****** prices, zero refs, and seller pays first. I don't see many people selling to him.

People probably tell them "Dude, you should totally sign up at this site called MOTL, people sell cards super cheap there!". Kind of like a couple years ago when someone from Europe would sign up every other day and post an awful buylist.
