Post all your rules/tournament questions here and they will get answered. Please wait a bit before you think we ignored you, we all live lives outside of MOTL but we do answer when we see them.If you are going to answer a question, please be 100% sure that your answer is correct. If you are just guessing or *think* you know the answer, keep it to yourself. There are plenty of judges and people who will know it correctly, and if multiple answers are given, it just confuses the person who asked. This thread is a flame-free zone. If you can't be civil, don't respond. New players shouldn't be worried about being made fun of when they're trying to learn. Some information for ya... Comprehensive Rules (also available in Word, Rich Text, and PDF formats) The complete rules for the game of Magic. Beginners should not go here; they are very intimidating. Oracle Card Reference The official text for every card in existence (use Gatherer for any quick questions about Oracle texts, Gatherer uses the Oracle text of all cards). Official Tournament Rules The official rules for sanctioned tournaments. Basic Rulebook Simplified rules for beginning players. If you are new to the game, you should read this and not the Comprehensive Rules. Set FAQs The official FAQs for each set. Look here if you have a specific question about a card. Judge Certification Program How to become a judge. MTG-L mailing list archives A good place to get official answers to rules questions, or to search for previous answers. DCIJUDGE-L mailing list archives The official Judge list. A good place to search for previous answers and discussion involving judging decisions, philosophy, etc. NOT rules questions. That's what MTG-L is for. __________________ Looking for misprinted Commander decks. Got one? Talk to me.

You can attack a different player or planeswalker. Its on the gatherer rulings: http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=247236

I'll add something here. The confusion comes from ninjutsu where you have to attack the same player / planeswalker. In this case you choose.

Myr Superion says Spend only mana produced by creatures to cast Myr Superion. My question is with a Heartless Summoning in play can a Myr Superion be played for free since Heartless Summoning lowers all creature spell costs by 2 or does there still need to be mana produced by creatures to play a Myr Superion even if Myr Superion now costs 0 to play?

Since Myr Superion will cost zero mana with heartless summoning in play, he can be cast for zero mana; you don't need mana producing creatures to produce zero mana. Side note: Apparently in German the name for this card is Ubermyr. I had someone at states announcing uber myr whenever he would play one, but I didn't realize it was actually printed on the card until after the game when he pointed it out. I thought it was cute.

A friend of mine played a Incinerate on a creature last night and his opponent casted a Ranger's Guile. I just wanna make sure; Incinerate is on the stack without having a target yet so the Ranger's Guile is the last spell on the stack and resolves first so the Incinerate fizzle right? or (the one I hope is wrong) Incinerate goes on the stack with a target so even if Ranger's Guile resolves first, the Incinerate was already targetting the creature and gets through?

Player 1 says "I cast incinerate targetting creature X" the game checks if creature X is a legal target, it is, so the spell goes on the stack.Player 1 passes priority, Player 2 says "In response, I cast Ranger's Guile on creature X" the game checks if creature X is a legal target, it is, so the spell goes on the stack. Player 1 passes priority, Player 2 passes priority, Ranger's Guile checks if Creature X is still legal, it is, it resolves. Pass, Pass, Incinerate checks if Creature X is still legal, it isn't, the spell is countered on resolution and put into the graveyard.

Yes, lotus bloom's converted mana cost is 0, so you can put it on prototype portal and make them for free.

Fallen Ferromancer has an ability of paying 1 and a mountain, then tap to deal 1 damage. Can I pay multiple, say 2 and 2 mountains, then tap to deal 2 damage? It seems to me like the way the card is written, and because you pay the 2, then tap.. you could first pump up more than 1 time, then tap.. any one know for sure? __________________ 1. siml send is the preferred method for trading/sending, but I'm new to the site and will send first if you have a good bit of references. 2. all cards are nm/m i expect the same. 3. make intial offer and we'll take it from there, I try to respond to everyone if not don't take it personally,

You have to pay the whole cost once (1R, T) to get the effect once. You'd need some way to untap him if you want to activate that ability again in the same turn.

No, the tapping is part of the cost. So to use the ability, you have to pay 1R *and* tap the card (all together), making it impossible to use it a second time before somehow untapping the Ferromancer. Note that if it were written without the tap symbol, i.e., "1R : blah blah", it would work as you say. Abilities can be used as many times as desired, but the cost of the ability must be paid, entirely, each and every time.

Can you Time Stop in response to mana being tapped by the opponent, therefore forcing them to end the turn and get mana burn?

No, for multiple reasons. 1) Mana abilities do not use the stack and cannot be responded to. 2) Mana burn doesnt exist anymore. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? to add to the previous answer (since it seems like this might come up): When gideon enters the battlefield again, the game will view it as a new gideon. If you have used gideon's +2 ability, the opponent's creatures would not have to attack the "new" gideon.
