I only wish they had also gotten rid of Consecrated Sphinx. While I run Prime Time everywhere, I am more than happy to take him out of my decks. The card is definitely a focal point of abuse.

Solring, Signet, Walking Atlas. Those colors don't have alot of ramp so Tithe, Landtax or Gift of estates are good cards to include. Other than that Blue is pretty home free on what you want to include for Counters, Draw, etc. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 2nd in posts in Canada 10th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Do you have a focus for the deck, or is it more RWU good stuff? These things do matter. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

I run a RWU deck. I use Zedruu, so a lot of cards are theme based, but basic autoincludes IMO are: Land Tax Gift of Estates Tithe Condemn Swords to Plowshares Wrath of God Mother of Runes Enlightened Tutor Karmic Guide Teferi, mage of Zhalfir Mystical Tutor Fact or Fiction Consecrated Sphinx Capsize Rhystic Study Reiterate Wild Research (this card is a HOUSE - makes games go long, but still awesome) Tolaria West I also, im my build, consider Empress Galina, Gamble, and Weathered Wayfarer autoincludes.

In 1v1 Edric is fine. Just mainboard Submerge and green hosers and you'll do fine. After all, very few 1v1 edh opponents don't have green in their decks.

It's beatable, but you want to play Submerge? and green hosers? You have to play a lot of cards just for Edric matchup and that doesn't seem very fun.

Well, I play Jhoira, so I can just discard the useless cards. And submerge is playable against non-green. And it's not just for Edric. There's a tokens deck. And ramp. And others.

First game night with PT gone and Kokusho in.Managed to recur Koko three times and gain 60 life (5-player game)...but still lost due to Akroma wailing on me. I should note, I only started using Koko after someone hit me with a Sorin. There were things I would have much rather been doing with my resources. A blue player having mana problems fired off a Bribery, only to lament that what he really needed was a Primeval Titan. He had to settle for an Oracle of Mul Daya instead, which whiffed for the next three turns. Bad beats. My first outing with all-creature Animar was a rousing success. Managed to finish off the game thanks to a Kessig Cagebreakers making seven guys, followed by a Craterhoof Behemoth the next turn for about +15. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. This is why Primeval Titan is banned! LOL. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 2nd in posts in Canada 10th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Enough mana to play Bribery, but has "mana problems"?Seems like a personal problem. Cheap spells, winning since 1993.

5 in EDH isn't all that great, or he could have been color screwed.

It depends on the deck. Most decks in EDH aren't great until they reach at least 5cc. But it doesn't have to be that way, which is what I'm pointing out. So if you build a deck that gets rolling much faster, you get ahead. That or just ramp faster.

It was a player I had not encountered before, so I can't comment on his deck much. He was playing UW (GAAIV) and I did see quite a bit of high cc stuff coming from him. So yeah, he probably wants to rethink his curve a little. He did seem to be able to do a little more once he hit five mana. That said, I pack plenty of low cc spells in my deck AND several on the higher end because those are the sweet spells that make the format worth playing. I build fairly consistent decks that are not top heavy and work the way I want them to 99% of the time. There's still that game every once in a while where you make a bad mulligan decision, don't hit mana rocks/ramp, or proceed to just continue drawing the highest cc cards in your deck. It just happens. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

I used to play GAIV, I packed it full of low-cc stuff so GA would make it even easier to play them. I played draw spells and had counter-mana open alot. However, all of my win-cons were high-cc.

In multiplayer GAIV makes you too much of an easy target, I've found. You never get to untap with him in play.

GAIV slows everyone down, but he's normally not the biggest threat. I've played it enough in the group that people don't auto target him. Since then, I've retired from playing Green/Blue and jumped to Red. I feel Red's got a lot more play in EDH than the other colors. All else fails, at least I get to destroy stuff and deal lots of damage.

Need a new, fun commander. I would prefer something tribal. I have already looked at Vampires and Zombies and none are super interesting. Any ideas?

me and a buddy were discussing a deck tonight that I came up w/ on the fly. he mentioned Doomgape as a joke and I just kind of ran with it. It would be 5 color, progenitus as the general. The focus of the deck would be 10+/10+ creatures and playing literally everything from leviathan to polar kraken. Cute tricks with disciple of bolas, greater good, elvish piper, sneak attack, eureka, show and tell, etc. No idea if it would work at all, but I think if I could get it running it might be fun to sling insanely large beasts around. Gatherer shows result of 24 creatures that are 10+/10+ and I know some are easy auto cuts such as BFM (unglued) and maybe deaths shadow. The deck would likely run stifle/trick bind so things like Jokulmorder work. We'll see if i get enough energy to make something resembling a deck list. I just had to post about it before I forgot since it sounds so random. edit #2: It you want another random deck idea, I have an EDH deck online where Reaper King is the general. I run a ton of ally as well as changlings. It has some fun interactions especially w/ the champion guys. Not sure how tuned you can make it, but people always seem to think its cute.

While not tribal, I recently built a Damia deck in which all of the creatures have deathtouch. There are things that synergize with deathtouch in there like Thornbite Staff, Grappling Hook, Mortarpod and Triangle of War. I really like the deck because instead of jamming my deck with value creatures I would estimate that 85% of the deck is cards I have never played in EDH. You run out Typhoid Rats T1, follow up with Baleful Strix T2 then Daggerback Basilisk and people sit there and look at you/your board funny.

My only tribal EDH deck is Ruhan... aka "Giant beats" Even though it is completely out of my preferred colors (G/B), it is still one of my favorite decks. Just a thought Take it easy, Jared
