Yes they are considered basic lands. Being so, they have the same deck rulings as basic lands. (You can use more than 4). The only published information I found was this on www.crystalkeep.com, it states: Snow-Covered Lands: Snow-Covered lands are considered basic lands. It was under the separate rulings for Ice Age cards. __________________ AIM Handle: SURFNSKI4REALKing Woopywoopy of the Penguin Clan The more you know, the more you know you don't know. - Socrates Let's laugh at these dolts who use InQuest/Scrye prices: Cycloniss, Cerebus, spyderman179, Scrilla666@aol.com, Thrax

Note: you can only use snowcovered lands in formats where Ice Age is legal.

question: if I have 2x Collective Restraint in play, would their effect be combined? like, if i have the 5 basic lands in play, would my opponent need to pay 10 to attack with a creature?~RPGfreak17 __________________ "Don't worry, the Antlion is tame to people. Hello, this is my question. My friend has a shadowmage infiltrator in play with an opposition. I have two Llanowar elves in play. He only has his shadowmage infiltrator. I attack him with the two Llanowar elves, can he block one with his shadowmage infiltrator and tap his shadowmage infiltrator to tap my other elf? __________________ "Do not fear death. No. The unblocked creature would have dealt him damage because the tapping of a creature doesn't remove it from combat. A creature has to be tapped prior to the combat phase to be unable to attack. He is able to tap your creature in response to your announcing your attack phase, but only before you declare attackers. I'm 90% sure on this one. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. My question: Am I able to kicker a spell by sacrificing a Lion's Eye Diamond?

I'm pretty sure you aren't You have to pay the kicker with the original mana cost, so if you discarded your hand to the diamond to add the mana, you couldn't play a spell unless it was able to be played from your graveyard or returned to your handI think the scenario you are thinking of is this: play spell-only pay Converted Mana Cost in response discard hand + add 3 mana of any one color + sac diamond pay kicker for the spell before it resolves, and i'm reasonably sure you cannot do this, kicker must be payed when you pay original mana cost. __________________ its crack...its crack, magic is crack4th in ohio in posts, yea baby! You can use opposition's ability regardless of whither or not the Horseshoe Crab has summoning sickness.

fladnag: qijo basically got it right, although technically the answer to your question is "yes, but it doesn't do you any good to tap something already in combat since it will still be an attacking creature at that point". :]qijo: No you can't. The mana from Lion's Eye Diamond can basically only be used in 2 ways: to pay for an ability (triggered or activated), or to play a spell that isn't actually in your hand (Yawgmoth's Agenda or such). You cannot use the LED during announcement of a spell or ability since it specifically says you can only use it any time you could play an instant. So you have to activate it first and once the mana is in your pool, play the spell or ability.

Umm...as uninformative as that question was, I would assume you are referring to his discard and remove from game abilities that pump him. If so, then yes. Any wording on a permanent that affects how it is in play is considered an ability, whether or not it has an activation cost. (i.e. Flying, Swampwalk; Tap, W: ~this~ gains first strike until end of turn, and Banding are all abilities) __________________ AIM Handle: SURFNSKI4REALKing Woopywoopy of the Penguin Clan The more you know, the more you know you don't know. - Socrates

It is now legal to take notes about anything that goes on in the match, subject to slow-play rules at the judge's discretion. With regard to writing down cards in a player's hand as Duress/Peek resolves, Fact or Fiction splits or a library viewed with Extract, the old rule still applies: there is a one-minute time limit for searching any zone, which means you have no more than a minute to make any choices the card calls for and write stuff down.
