Flashback, unlike madness, doesn't affect timing restrictions. You can only flashback a sorcery if it is legal to play a sorcery from your hand.__________________ DCI certified Level 2 judge gzeiger@hotmail.com

A.17 - Flashback A.17.1 - The ability is written "Flashback <-cost->". In addition, cards with Flashback have an icon of a gravestone by the card's title. [CompRules Update in Odyssey FAQ 2001/10/04 - 502.22a] A.17.2 - The ability means "You may play this card from your graveyard by paying <-cost-> rather than paying its mana cost. If you do, remove this card from the game instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack." [CompRules Update in Judgment FAQ 2002/05/28 - 502.22a] A.17.Ruling.1 - Flashback is an alternative cost for the spell. [CompRules Update in Odyssey FAQ 2001/10/04 - 502.22a] See Rule E.1 for more details on how alternative costs work. A.17.Ruling.2 - If any other replacements are applied before this one, this one will still be applied afterwards since it replaces anything. [DeLaney 2001/10/13] A.17.Ruling.3 - Any restrictions on when the spell can be played or options on how the spell is played apply as normal. Flashback does not override these restrictions or options based on card type or those defined in the card text. [DeLaney 2001/11/07] A.17.Ruling.4 - If the spell is countered, it is removed from the game instead of going to the graveyard. [D'Angelo 2001/12/16]
Here is the complete rule section on flashback. The part in bold says that cards can only be played in their normal timing (i.e. a sorcery with flashback can only be played when a sorcery could be played from your hand)

All three enchantments will trigger when you cycle a card.

1)If i have mana echoes out and i sac symbiotic wurm for whatever reason, do i still get the colorless mana since they all come into play at the same time?2) If i have that goblin that deals 10 damage to each creature/player and i use glarecasters ability, can i deal 30 damage to target player? __________________ Existance is futile.

1) Yes. All of the Insects come in to play during the resolution of the Symbiotic Wurm's ability, so Mana Echoes will trigger seven times. For each trigger, you can choose to add either seven or zero colorless mana to your mana pool (assuming you don't have any Insects in play other than the tokens). So, you can choose to have 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, or 49 colorless mana to do with as you please. 2) Yes, you can have the Skirk Fire Marshal deal a total of 30 damage to a single player if you have an activated Glarecaster in play. From the Onslaught FAQ: quote: If you and Glarecaster would be damaged at the same time, Glarecaster's ability will redirect all the damage that would have been dealt both to you and to it to the target creature(or player).

I am pretty sure I am right but want to check this before I do it at a tourney and look stupid.Say turn 3, I contagion someone's 2 creatures, removing a duress from the game. Turn 4 I cast yawgmoth's will, removing it from the game. Then, I could remove a dark ritual in my hand from the game to play the contagion for free again. Right?

About those new tribal lords...They require you to tap 5 creatures. Is it legal to tap 4 of them, untap one at instant speed, and then tap it again to make number 5? Or do you have to tap 5 different ones all at once? __________________ "It's hard to be humble when the whole world is bite size."E-Mail Address: eclinchy@yahoo.com AIM Handle: eclinchy5 MSN Handle: eclinchy5@hotmail.com Need an Apprentice opponent? Its a cost. Like if a spell said "sacrifice 2 lands, do 5 damage to an opponet - you couldn't sac a land, play yawgmoth's will, and put it back into play to sac again (yes will is a sorcery but..)." You have to pay the entire cost at one time.

I'm going to trim down your question a bit, but my answer covers the whole thing:quote: Originally posted by TunaBoo: I... ...look stupid.Right?
Right. That is entirely correct. quote: Originally posted by eclinchy: About those new tribal lords... They require you to tap 5 creatures. Is it legal to tap 4 of them, untap one at instant speed, and then tap it again to make number 5? Or do you have to tap 5 different ones all at once?
You need to tap them all at once. Once you announce an ability and start paying costs, you don't have the opportunity to play instants or instant speed abilities. The only abilities you can play during the announcement of a spell are mana abilities.

Okay i have morphling in play and i want to make it a 7/-1 then when damage is on the stack i use it's ablility to make it a 5/1, is this possible???? Will me makeing it a 7/-1 kill it right away or does it still stay alive when i pump it's defense??? I'm asking this because i have always was told and understood that i could pump it to a 7/-1 then pump it to a 5/1, I was told this by a level 1 judge and now i just lost a tuorny at a different shop because they say you can't do it. Just please help me out on this and if you can find me a ruling that says i can or can't do it so i can be for sure. Thank you in advance.

You cannot pump a Morphling's power above 5 and have it survive. As soon as the pump ability that makes it a 6/0 resolves, the Morphling is put into the graveyard as a state-based effect. Once Morphling is 6/0, you can't do ANYTHING before it dies, let alone put combat damage on the stack.

1) if i cycle a card and lightning rift is triggered, is the damage done by lightning rift goes on stack or does not which is the feature of cycling?2)if my opponent cast play a spell thru flashback, and i memory lapse that spell, will it goes back to his library or removed from game? ( whether the spell is instantly removed from the game once it is play or only after it resolves?? )

1. The trigger on lighting rift goes on the stack (ie: somebody can respond to the triggering of the 2 damage.)
2. Whenever a flashback spell would leave the stack, it is removed from the game. __________________ Ari - We'll miss you.

We missed one Yes, that's legal. Yawgmoth's Will lets you play the card "as though it were in your hand." You can still choose to use an alternate play cost. Flashback (for instance with Recoup) would work differently - because flashback is an alternate play cost which you would have to choose instead of pitching a card. __________________ DCI certified Level 2 judge gzeiger@hotmail.com

It should be noted that with Yawgmoths Will you cannot discard cards in your graveyard because "play as though they are in your hand" does not mean you can discard them. But any normal method of paying a cost(alternate or otherwise) is fine. Just make sure you discard a real card in your hand to do it, not one thats in the grave.I'd have to say thats a pretty evil play! Two Contagions in a row is nasty...

Hi, just a few quick questions:1. Can I use Genesis's graveyard ability more than once per turn? 2. If I have Aurification in play and put a gold counter on a creature, then play another Aurification the next turn, then lose the first Aurification, does the gold counter go away because the Aurification that put it on was destroyed, or does it stay because there is still an Aurification in play? Thanx for your help, coinmagic45 __________________ Trade me MTGO (Magic Online) stuff: boosters, tournament packs, singles, etc. See my h/w list!

Ya I wanted to discard a real card fromy my hand to use contagion the second time. To guy above, you can only use genesis once per turn. Read the card and take what it says literally.

What exactly does dream chisel do? Does the cost to turn the creature face up cost one less or does the generic 3 mana cost less, and if thats the case with three dream chisels out can you play creatures facedown for free?__________________ Existance is futile.

With Dream Chisel, the cost for playing them face down is reduced. The cost for flipping them face up is unaffected. And yes, with 3 Chisels in play, playing a creature face down is free.

I cast chain of plasma, my opponent copies it back at my creature, in response i sac my creature. Now the chain has an invalid target, and is countered under the rules. Now i assume i can not fork it back, is that correct? since the spell is countered and all because it does not have a legal target. __________________ Its not a weeble, it will fall. Okay here's my question....If I have 2 Explorations out does it mean I can drop 3 lands per turn or just 2 still? Just asking because I never used the card before. __________________ "I'll crucify him, cut out his tongue, and send him to hell." -Naru Narusegawa from "Love Hina"
